While my puppies love these, I find them too expensive to purchase on a regular basis. The chews keep them busy for about 20 minutes. I reserve the treats for times when I want the pups quiet so I can get some chores done around the house. All three of my dogs LOVE this food -even my ultra-finicky dog! It is human-grade food and full of every good thing. It is very, very easy to make, and meal-time has become a big deal in my house -they all sit with wagging tails as I prepare it. When I stayed at my mom's house for a couple weeks, her two dogs were much more interested in having my dogs' food than their own regular dog food. I originally bought this food because I wanted to put my dogs on a vegan diet. For the protein source, I use tofu and all sorts of beans like chickpeas/garbanzo beans, black beans, etc. They love it no matter what I add to it. I rotate the type of oil I use, or sometimes I use a blend. When I first put them on this food, I used the serving size they recommend, and my dogs started gaining weight. So I am actually able to use less than what they say in the instructions. I have three 50-pound dogs and I use approximately 1 scoop per dog, twice a day. In the 10-lb bag there are about 198 scoops, in the 5 lb bag there are around 99 scoops, in the 20 oz bag there are around 24 scoops. So from that you should be able to calculate a good estimate of the cost for your dog(s). Of course for smaller dogs you can use less. With my finicky dog, I used to have to stand over him and goad him into eating his commercial dog food (which even contained meat). Now he scarfs his food every time! One other note: I sometimes add some Nature's Recipe Vegetarian formula dry dog food just to add some crunch. For vegetarian/vegan treats, I feed them Sam's Yams and C.E.T. VeggieDent. It is a wonderful thing to be able to give my dogs a cruelty-free diet! I have gone through many brands of cat food for my Maine Coon mix female. She's about five years old now. I discovered this food first at a boutique type pet store... I was looking for our regular Eukanuba brand. This fancy place only had some pricey food, including Royal Canin, which I was not familiar with. I bought it anyway since I had never seen food especially for the Maine Coon breed. Well, our cat Vita loved it. She can't just scarf this food down and then throw up like she does with other food! She eats it properly and, amazingly, does not leave food in the dish. Her favorite trick is to always leave food behind and then complain that it's stale. For instance, with the Paul Newman food, she eats a few bites and then walks away. Then she comes back and camps out by her dish waiting for a few more "fresh" morsels. When I give her Iams, she gobbles her food like a little demon. Then I go to work or do some chores and voila, I find a pile of thrown-up kibble on the carpet. Of course, I try giving her small doses of kibble... boy, does this cat eat a lot. She is very healthy though and not too fat. After having moved to where there is no PetsMart in the state, we are SO GRATEFUL to be able to get this food from Amazon for our two Coon boys! I have two Maine Coons. They've been with us since they were about six months old, and for their first year out of kittenhood we were on Royal Canin Maine Coon 31. I have everything good to say about this food when we've used it: the grain size is large, so that my large-mouthed cats had no trouble with grabbing food and they chewed so that we didn't have to brush their teeth often. It's so tasty for them that when we tried switching to cheaper foods (initially, a brief flirtation with some other brands) they would dig up the Royal Canin and only eat that. And the biggest vote of confidence in this food's quality is the effect we've seen on our boys since they went on this food: their coats have gotten incredibly glossy and their energy levels have gotten higher than when we switched to Royal Canin. We used to feed another brand of food and it was not unusual to find throw up around the house. We have 2 M.C. cats and a house tabby. I thought it was the tabby throwing up all the time. Then we switched to Royal Canin 31 specially formulated for them. THEY LOVE IT! They quit throwing up uneaten cat food and the tabby loves it too. Only one of our three dogs learned to use the machine, which is fine, because she's the one we bought it for! It took her no time to learn to use it. She looks like a little factory worker pushing the lever up and down. We've had it for five years, but my son accidentally stepped on it tonight and broke the plastic dome. My dogs have to work for their dry food, end up they lost weight because each press only few drops come out and they take longer time to finish the food. Remember don't put too full just put what they need. It is a fun Treat Machine, I enjoy very mush to watch them, especially when taught them to get food from the machine. My dobermans love Yuppy Puppy. The enclosed pamphlet says it can take up to two weeks for your dog to learn how to work it, but that is probably an exaggeration as food is a great motivator. One of my dogs learned how to use it in under five minutes, using her paw, the other took about a day and prefers to use her snout to depress the lever. I tried to teach her with her paw but she learned her own way to do it. It is cute to watch them and is much anticipated when I say "Work the Machine!" Product is built sturdy for heavy use by mongrels and stays in place well. Doesn't tip over. Highly recommended.

I am trying to train my dog and he is not particularly food greedy. However, he LOVES cheese! But as you may know, cheese isn't that portable. This is perfect. I have a small Morkie (maltese/yorkie mix) and the top food compartment is perfect for one serving of food, or few treats. I love that it comes with doggie waste bags and has a very convenient hole for pulling the bags out. This feature made potty training easier, since we were able to have her waste disposal bags AND her treats for going potty outside. The water bottle that comes with it, is also perfect for a small animal since it's small.
