I too have rec the new formula for the True Chews chicken jerky fillets. It's smells horrible and looks more like jerky than dried/compressed chicken fillets. I will not buy this product again. I guess I will have to start buying Smokehouse. Beware, Smokehouse products may show made in USA (front of pkg) made in China (on back of pkg). Finally, a dog treat made in the U.S. that's made me and my Wheaten very, very happy. I just wish that this product was easier to purchase, as the popularity of U.S. made products for dogs has made these True Chews difficult to find, even on Amazon. Until about six months ago, True Chews, made by Tyson (yes, the same company that makes food for humans) were exceptionally hard and difficult to tear into pieces. The company obviously listened to consumers and changed the formula so that these treats are much easier to break and my dog seems to like these as much as the previous jerky. I'd like to give this product a 5+.

My cat has had a poor appetite for months, which was explained recently by a diagnosis of chronic renal failure. I dreaded the prospect of trying to switch him to an even less appetizing food than what he was currently refusing to eat. Well, rats. I finally found a renal cat food that my cat likes, and they change the formula!! To defend her pickiness, Sabrina has had renal disease for 6.5 years. She's been through all the mainstream renal cat foods and sooner or later, tired of each of them. No going back, either. Kitty with a memory my luck. I read good reviews about Hi-Tor Neo Diet early this year, and ordered a case. She SCARFED that food down! Things went along swimmingly until my last order >> hmm, new label, new size, new consistency, doesn't smell the same. For a week now, Sabrina has consistently taken a few bites, then turns her nose up at it. She's eating maybe 1/8th of what she used to eat. My cat has renal disease and has been on Hill's k/d dry and canned food for over a year. Recently she was getting picky about eating and not wanting the either type of the canned k/d. Based on the Amazon reviews, I ordered the Hi-Tor Neo Diet hoping that she would love it. At first she did love it (something new/different I think), but now she is very ambivalent towards it and lately has preferred the k/d. Perhaps it is due simply to her personality or perhaps it is due to her stage of renal disease, but I have not seen any difference between k/d and the Hi-Tor Neo. Finally! My cat had been eating k/d diet both wet and dry for years. Suddenly she lost interest in the canned and I was forced to add sardines to it. Sort of defeats the purpose of limiting the protein doesn't it? Well, I was heartsick because already thin to begin with, she wasn't eating enough to gain weight. She would just sit and stare at her bowl. In desperation, I knew I had to find a better food, so I read the reviews here and ordered a case and voila! She eats it without sauce or sardines. She can't get enough of it. I had to order another case. So now she's eating one can a day which is good. Though I wish they would make this in a dry too, so she could nibble through the night. She won't even touch the dry anymore! And we all know what a wet diet can do to the teeth. I highly recommend a dental treat such as enzadent oral chews and a daily cleaning or adding a dental additive to the water. But I shouldn't complain, she's eating and that's what I wanted. Anyway, I don't know what they put in this food, but my cat sure likes it and thanks to it, she's going to be around for a long time still!

Oh my goodness, my young Boxer and my elderly Jack Russell LOVE these. My Jack Russell has lost a few teeth and it's difficult to find something that she can really "chew" on, you know, but she can chew on these without a problem, and she's happy like she has a real life chewie while "little" sister chews away on the longer ones (the 6 inch ones). But with these, little Midgey can chew and crackle through the cow tube (the little ones) while big Annie indulges on the longer ones. So they're both happy and they are delicious, I am told. We have 2 pembroke corgis, one 60 pound hound of mixed heritage, who all love these saddle bones. These bones are great chews for active chewers which all of our dogs are. We only allow the bones under supervision with our large 60 pound 1 year old pup because he is such an active chewer that he will break off bone pieces. The older corgis just knaw contently without as much vigor once the meaty bits are gone.

I have an English bulldog puppy that loves this stuff. However, the Amazon price is simply way too high. I bought a 15 lb bag at a local pet store the other day for $28 (that includes tax and everything). It may be worth your time to check around and see if you can find it cheaper in your area.PRODUCT SAFETY ALERT !!! This product has been recalled by the mfg (Diamond). Our dogs thrive on "Taste of the Wild". I give it 5 stars for quality and I give Diamond 5 stars for honesty in the recall. But I give Amazon (who I normally love) 1 star for selling the stuff after the recall went public. This is a huge trust snafoo for Amazon. They are currently selling the product (on May 5, 2012) after the recall was announced. An explanation is in order, please.My Miniature Schnauzer was having lots of health issues and had "Schnauzer Bumps", but we didn't know what was wrong with her. After doing research online, we decided to try her on a grain-free diet and she is doing great now. Before her skin was hot, dry, itchy and covered with bumps. Now she feels good, looks good and her skin is clear and smooth. Thank you Taste of the Wild. My only wish is that you would offer some treats. But to solve that problem, we buy two flavors of the food and fill her bowl with one flavor and give the other one to her for a treat. And since they taste different, she is happy and so are we. We buy the Salmon and the Fowl flavors and alternate them as her food and treats periodically. Just a note, the other thing that we did for our dog was to also change her shampoo to the Nootie brand of Aloe and Oatmeal Shampoo in Cucumber and Melon fragrance (sold by Amazon also). It's natural, works and smells great and even our groomer buys it to use and says that our dog's skin has improved 100%.We LOVE this kibble. It's the only one that my 3 year-old very finicky cockapoo will eat, time after time, without fail. Because he has a sensitive stomach and is allergic to chicken, beef and lamb, we primarily feed him raw rabbit and venison. To add variety to his diet, however, I give him this, and he absolutely LOVES it. I'm amazed every time he finishes his bowl as he rarely eats like anything dry. Best things about this food -my dog LOVES the taste, it's grain-free, and is full of high-quality ingredients. Lastly, there's never any loose stool or diarrhea, his coat is shiny, and he's full of energy. You can't go wrong with this food. Definitely give it a try!
