I bought this as a chew toy. I didn't use the rawhide that came with it. I put a small amount of peanut butter in the groves from time to time, but my dog isn't picky.

That said, this toy didn't last long. It's still in one piece and all, but the ends are a hazard due to the chewing. I expected that. I have an old nylabone that is similar with the end pieces and it was harder and last longer than the material on this particular toy. I kinda wish it was of that quality as this stuff is a little softer. Still, my dog enjoyed it.

I've brushed/sanded the hazardous ends down a bit so that he can safely continue using it. For the price, I got my moneys worth.

(This refers to the medium.) My 35lb pit-mix rips through most materials except the heavy nyla plastic or Kong rubber. But I don't like her always chewing on the harder plastic because she has a chipped tooth. This is the best of both worlds and occupies her for hours. Even if you run out of the jerky discs, you can just put peanut butter in the grooves. I liked this so much I already bought a different style from the same company.

This is probably my miniature schnauzer's favorite toy. He rarely tires of it, and it has held up for almost a year of daily chewing. He gnaws on it even if there are no treat discs on it, though he is more excited about it if he knows I put them on there.

Small pieces of the purple, rubbery part have come off from time to time, but they're small enough and soft enough that it seems pretty harmless.

It may say "dog toy," but this rubber football is just right for my Amazon parrot, who loves rubber toys. I have FIVE dogs (one is very old, two are pups, and one is a rescue)who will do anything for one of these treats! Once a week we start with one dog on the floor to clip nails. They take turns laying on their backs with paws in the air so it goes really fast. After each is done one my husband gets up and gives that dog a treat before we start on the next one who is already belly up waiting for the clipping to begin. It is hilarious and makes life easy around here. The pups have learned from the older dogs just by watching. They want a treat too! These are SO worth the money! It is one of the few treats our 15 year old Schnauzer can chew easily too.

Learned about these treats from a friend who has two rescues -a 65 lb.pit bull mix and a 50 lb lab mix. The Checkups are really excellent for helping to keep the dogs' teeth clean and better yet, the dogs -two shelties, 8 yrs and 2 years old -love them. They each get 1/2 a checkup bone before bedtime. The treats are also wheat-free and very digestible -eliminating two issues that have caused serious problems for dogs in the past. Even better, during our dogs' last two annual health/dental checkups -the vet did NOT recommend we bring the dogs in for teeth cleaning. In fact, their teeth were given the "look pretty good" comment.

Alright so about 3 months ago I asked my vet how much a dog teeth cleaning would cost me. Because the dog would have to be put under anesthesia, she said total would be about $350. Pretty steep but I thought I should give my dog a cleaning since he was in need of one. Last month I called in to make the dental appt. and was surprised to hear their prices have gone up to $550....c'mon people, I love my dog a lot but in today's economy $550 is a lot of money, certainly almost more than a car payment. My German Shepherd loves these treats. They are perforated and can easily bend in half. I was afraid she might reject these since she was raised on Greenies, but she loves Checkups just the same. Her teeth are very white and she never has bad breath. They are also made in the USA.

My dad bought these from costco for my two bulldogs. Just recently Liam (my male bulldog) started acting funny; he was throwing up and acting very lethargic. I did not think much of it until he started throwing up non stop. A rush to the vets and he got some liquids and an anti naushia injection. He got back home and seemed much happier but 3 am rolled around and Liam started throwing up everywhere again but this time his vomit included blood. We rushed him to the emergency vets and they took x rays and a blood test. Liam's x rays showed that his stomach was filled with air and his intestine was horribly swollen; his blood glucose was extremely low which often is due to infections and a foreign body. When I saw the quote for the price of the operation I almost passed out but my little bully deserves the best. The next day he was scheduled for surgery but things got only more complicated when Liam threw up as he was being put under causing him to inhale his own vomit (the doctor was extremely concerned that this would cause pneumonia. Luckily Liam's surgery went well and the vet was able to cut the intestine and take out the obstructing object. When I saw the object I was devastated and angry. The checkups dental dog treat was a putrified mess that was so hard it felt like rubber. I wanted to make sure it was a checkups so I cut it in half and sure enough the inner color was a light cream (ps I could barley cut the NON digested checkups treat because it had become extremely rubbery and ridged). I was extremely angry that the information on the check ups bag was not really truthful because I would have never given them to my dog knowing that they really dont digest all the way/are not 100% soluble. A banana is 100% digestible...while you would not want your dog swallowing it in large chunks, if he/she did it would not be the end of the world as it would digest...Checkups are far far far far far away from being digestible like a banana. I thought it was crucial that I share my experience and warn other out there so that they Do Not purchase this product....just brush your dogs teeth instead. I feel so guilty and I feel even worse when i look at my poor dog's stapled stomach....he did not deserve this to happen! (PS Costso was more than willing to give me a refund and file an accident report...they were so helpful!)

My dogs love these treats, and I do buy them occasionally because they are cheap and perched at the check-out counter of our local garden/feed store. But check out the ingredient list-I don't think anyone can feel good about feeding their dog high-fructose corn syrup! Just not the healthiest option-when so many of our dogs are overweight, it seems better to feed them a real liver treat, versus this product which is "made with liver".

My dogs absolutely love Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried 14 Ounce (the larger size packages are more economical). I just feel a lot better about feeding real freeze-dried liver that doesn't have all the extra junk in Bil-Jac liver treats.

Specifically, these treats have chicken "by-products"-that means liquid slaughterhouse run-off and other non-human grade leftovers from the slaughterhouse. UGH! Bil-Jac also includes three preservatives, glycerin (?!), and the corn syrup.

My dog loves Natural Balance treats and I love that they're healthy and don't make him gassy or vomit (which is what happens when the nice ladies at Petco give him whatever free dog treats they have at the counter).

Just an FYI, the item description states that these treats are for all dogs (without specifying size) and though the picture indicates that the treats are small to medium sized, the bag that I received has rather large treats maybe something more suited for big dogs (boxers, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, etc.). I have a rat terrier who takes rather dainty bites, so I'll be breaking the treats up into smaller pieces for him which is fine by be, the treats last longer that way but if you're shopping for a smaller dog and don't want to take the time to break the treats up, you may want to keep looking.

Usually our girls are hesitant to try a new snack, but it was love at first bite with these Natural Balance snacks. The treats are crunchy but not rock hard so that the human can easily break the individual "bones" into smaller pieces if he or she chooses.

Healthy Bones contain no corn, soy, or wheat or any of those esoteric scientific ingredients that only a chemist would recognize.

The first ingredients listed are: dried potatoes, sweet potatoes, potato protein, dried cane molasses, and salmon. I would prefer that salmon be higher on the list or at least ahead of molasses.

This was a great value!! I am picky rawhide buyer when it comes to my dogs especially rawhide and I like this brand. Not all the rolls were as thick as I would liked which is to be expected with a multi pack. I was also disappointed by the lack of the vanilla rolls, my dogs love those. However the peanut butter ones were some of the best in the bag and that is their second favorite. All in all you can't beat this deal for quality rawhide.

***if you have a super chewer than ret. rolls are not for your dog but light to moderate chewers should be fine but anything they like well enough to swallow in big hunks can be a health hazard***

Since I don't eat these, I can't comment on their taste. However, I can comment on their quality. They are too soft. We use treats to help clean our dog's teeth. These biscuits are so crumbly, they practically dissolve. Also, the biscuits themselves arrive with many, many broken pieces upon opening the box.

I don't know why you stopped carrying the other IAMS treats we used, but it would be wonderful if you could go back them if the company still makes them.

I throw some of the chow in a food processor and make a powder out of it, throw in some pecans to grind up and mix a heaping 1/3 cup of this mixture with one of the cups of Mott's Strawberry/Banana Applesauce. It will be very juicy, but after it sets a minute it gets thicker. I make marble size balls and keep in frig. The squirrels love it and it is great for them. I have had injured adults that would only eat the Zupreem balls. I also cut the biscuits in half and put in cages with the babies after they open their eyes, they love chewing on them. We use these very large kibbles/biscuits as a base for the diets of various rescued animals, (mostly Eastern Gray squirrels, and just recently, flying squirrels!) that on occasion spend a little time with us :) Some will nibble on the actual 3/4"-1" sized "biscuit", but generally, we grind/blend them up and use them as a sound nutritional base in our homemade gourmet squirrel nut squares ; } And if our young squires are ready to move on before we run out of them,( an option for a 10lb. bag would be Great!), then the raccoons out back are more than happy to finish off the bag!

We run an exhibit with a capuchin monkey. We use a blender to make the biscuits into a fine powder.

First, we make up the baby formula, 8oz (Parents Choice Premium), add baby food, 2Tbs. (applesauce), add baby cereal, 2 scoops (rice), and a Tbs. of plain yogurt. First, this bone is not made in the USA.

It is way over packaged and this is important to note: it is baked not smoked. A lot of Vets and folks in the know say that smoking is the only safe way to go to help prevent the bone from splintering. My two girls are 100 lbs each and tear through just about anything so what I get them is important for their safety. To keep them from outright crushing the shank of the bone right away I have to get the super-huge femur bones. No other bones with a shank will do. Like pork bones are just plain dangerous for them. Knuckle bones or ones that 'powder' not splinter are ok. NO rawhide!!!

This is a good, large, safe bone. One of the very few Amazon sells. If y'all find a better huge one on Amazon, reply here.

My girls rate this a 3 star on taste and chewability btw.
