Don't use this crap. I promise you, it will kill your kitten. Not all are susceptible. But 1 out of my 5 kittens went into convulsions eating this crap. Please reconsider. Try something from PetAG. This stuff is not milk based and therefore it has no laxative qualities. This causes bloating and constipation, pain that is confusing for a small kitten. Please don't use anything from Hartz. I almost lost my precious kitty Jesse from Hartz products and I am ashamed for buying them. This is not where you need to cut your budget. Try the PetAG products or anything else that is milk based. The milk brings a laxative quality. Without that, some kittens just stop up and can't deal with their digestive issues. Please. Reconsider. I have no interest in PetAG, they're just the only decent KMR that I know right now. Find something milk based, it will let the kitten poo. If you can't do that, I hear that warmed goat milk will do ok. But not this stuff. It's pure crap. DO NOT FEED YOUR KITTEN HARTZ products. Please, please, PLEASE do not ignore these reviews. If you buy this Hartz product, you are playing Russian roulette with your kitten's life. It seems that many kittens cannot digest this crap. My poor baby kitten, which I had been feeding for four days, died because of this stuff. I am almost sure of it. Call it a "mother's intuition". When we started feeding her this, she would have the same indications other kittens who died on this stuff had--going into trances, paralyzation, pain, vomiting, greasy poo, bad gas, confusion, lethargy . . . . and she got like this every time we fed her! I was so harried to get nutrition into her that I didn't suspect the food until it was too late. She wasn't able to digest it right, so she wasn't getting the nutrition she needed. She became too weak and was in too much pain. My last memories of her was of her extremely disoriented, trying to go off and hide. She just wandered around aimlessly, very uncomfortable, going into trances and passing out over and over again. I ended up putting her in a box with blankets and she just put her head in the corner while still standing. Then she started intermittently meowing loudly and her tail was twitching oddly. After that, she became unresponsive. She was letting out bad gas (again). I took her to the vet and they put her in an incubator with oxygen (for the second day), and she looked like she wasn't even there anymore. I had been watching her dying all along, and I had to put her to sleep.

I am inconsolable about her death, and I don't want any other owner or kitten to go through this again. Look into other alternatives, like PetAg's KMR. There are others as well, but I have read that KMR is the best. I only got this crap because it was the only thing available at Wal-Mart, which was where I happened to be at the time. I wonder how different things would be now if I had gone instead to Petco . . . . She's now buried in my backyard and she will live on in my memories.

I have a approx 4 week old kitten named Raven. She had been on a diet of Hartz Precision Nutrition Kitten Milk Replacer (Powder formula) for about a week. On Sunday October 7th, 2012, I found her unresponsive, she had thrown up everything in her tummy, and her eyes were glassy. when she finally woke up, she could not walk. She would meow occasionally like something hurt. It was midnight, there was nothing I could do. Nothing had changed in her diet, or her routine with me. she had not gotten into anything she shouldnt have. I feel very strongly it was the Hartz product she had been eating all week, esp after reading all of the terrible reviews on the internet this week. I was terrified I would loose her and spent the whole night praying she would still be alive til the morning so we could make it to the vet. I was lucky, she made it and is now back to her happy, healthy self, with the help of quality KMR. I doubt my post will last long on your wall, but I know I am not the first, nor the last to have this complaint and others will not be as lucky as I am. Please have a HEART and listen to what feedback people are giving you!!! STOP MAKING PRODUCTS THAT HURT AND KILL OUR BEST FRIENDS!!! If I had the chance I wouldn't have even given 1 star for this product! I did not purchase it from Amazon, but at my local Wal-Mart. -I just want to warn anyone I can about how detrimental this product is.

Six nights ago I found 3 kittens who were just born and their mother left them. I had to make a late night trip to Wal-Mart and felt Hartz Milk Replacer would help to give the babies what they needed. I am no vet, but am an RN who knows a little about nutrition and bodily functions, and I could tell within 3 days that the kittens weren't pooping like they should, even with my stimulating them before and after feeding. Long story short, 2 of them died 3 days ago within hours of each other they were horribly constipated and died suffering from painful distended abdomens. The last baby seemed to thrive very well and the vet told me I was doing everything correctly for the little one. I became quickly attached to her and already gave her a name I felt she had conquered death and would make it. Suddenly today she quit pooping and then tonight, wouldn't eat, and then, wouldn't even cry because she was so lethargic. The symptoms appeared very unexpectedly, but through research, I knew she was constipated. I did EVERYTHING I could to try to make her poop and to hydrate her, but it was too late. She died just a few hours ago and my heart is deeply broken. I feel as if I have lost a child (in a sense), and wish there was some way this product could be discontinued. Please do not attempt to use this supplement. Do your research first PLEASE! It will leave you crushed...

We feel really sorry for my kittens because We neglected to research reviews on this product and fed it to them. We didn't realize a company would sell such harmful and unethical product for kittens. On their first can, they started getting stomach upset and results in diarrhea and dropping body weight. We thought it's normal for kittens to have watery poo poo in the beginning. Then on the half way of their second can, we realized there are something wrong and started on researching for better alternative. Then we turned to PetLac. Our kittens are back to their normal poo and they becoming healthier and more active. Moreover, Their weight are steadily increasing. To conclude this, I will NEVER TRUST Hartz's products again!

Purchased this because of the special offer from Amazon (4-for-3.) When I received them in the mail, I was surprised at how small they were. Each sliver seems to be about 1/3 the size of the pig ears I used to buy. But each bag weighs a bit over 16 oz / 1 lb (bag included, I'm guessing about 14-15 oz of actual ears.) So compared to what I used to buy at Wal-Mart, this is a pretty good discount.

Oh, and the dog (terrier) seems to like them alright and I'm pretty sure that's what actually matters.

Overall, I'm pleased with the quality of these chews. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because a number of the strips are cut in such a way that they have sharp slender points. I have 2 Springer Spaniel pups that love these things so much that they try to gulp them down without much chewing. I keep a close eye on my pups while they eat these chews to ensure that they don't get caught in their throats. We have had one get caught in the roof of the mouth. I sometimes smash the points with a hammer just for my own peace of mind. The dogs love 'em. I have to keep them in the laundry room because they can smell them (I can't) if I keep them in the kitchen which leads to begging and pawing.

We own two dogs who are drastically different in sizes. I've always preferred the slivers because my smaller dog can manage them better, and I pick out the larger pieces for my bigger dog. I normally get them from the pet store but needed an extra item to add to my order to put it over 25 bucks ( yay for free shipping ). The price is cheaper here than I normally pay and my smaller dog, who is WAY more picky seems to like these better than the ones from the pet store we shop at. The size of the slivers are more constant as well. There are still some bigger than others but none of the tiny crumbs of pieces you can sometimes find in other brands.

Overall if my dogs are happy with them, I am happy with them and they seem to be. Plus the price is great just another bonus.

I've got a small poodle-mix. I've tried almost every premium food for my dog. With completely grain free foods, I've seen the coat dry out and become dull. Solid Gold produced too much gas. Canidae ALF and grain-free went too stale for her taste in less than two weeks. The other foods I've attempted simply were rejected.

Wellness Small Breed to me is a miracle. She will even eat it without having to load it up with cheese. Her coat is a shiny silver. She's actually grown a healthy undercoat. Like most little dogs with allergies, I've noticed the eye discharge is minimal compared to other foods.

So for any super-finicky small dog parent, I would definitely recommend this kibble.

I have a three year old yorkipoo who has always been extremely picky about his food. We had some success (by "some success" I mean he'd eat half of what he was supposed to) with the Prarie brand by Natures Variety, but he always had runny eye problems and had trouble keeping weight on. My mother's vet recommended the Wellness brand for her dog to lose weight and suggested I try the small breed formula for my picky dog. I'm so glad I tried it! Since switching my dog to the Wellness small breed formula my dog eats every single piece. I don't have to sit there and encourage him to eat. He willingly eats the whole bowl and cannot wait for his next meal. I'm convinced that I could feed him 5 times a day and he'd still eat every last piece because its just that good. I have never seen him so excited to eat! On top of this his coat is as soft as ever and his watery, running, cloudy eyes are completely clear. He has the same amount of small dog energy but doesn't seem as anxious when I leave (apparently filler in dog foods can cause anxiety in sensitive dogs). Ok let me clarify first of all, why I gave it 4/5 instead of 5/5.

If it were to up to me alone, this food is 5/5.

The ONLY reason why I took 1 star off, is because my dogs hate the taste :(

I have a Pomeranian and a Maltese. Both of them would often just sniff the food, and walk away. They will eventually eat it when they are really hungry, but they just look very disinterested in the food overall. I have the same issue with Blue Buffalo.

However, when I alternate them to Orijen, or Taste of the Wild, or Acana, or Fromm, they pretty much gobble them down instantly. (I tend to alternate around different brands and flavors just to make sure they are not deficient in a specific nutrient/mineral).

This *small* problem is NOT universal. I have friends whose dogs love this food, and I have seen dogs that absolutely won't touch Wellness. Every dog has its preferences, so its best to experiment around.

However, I like feeding my dogs WELLNESS most.

Their poop is solid and doesn't stink, and based upon the ingredients list, it seems really good!

No by-products

No corn

No fillers (well except for tomato pomace, which some people consider it as a filler. I personally don't)

Omega 3 and 6 levels are on the higher side (which is a big plus!) compared to other brands/foods!!! ^_^

I have fed about 2 bags so far, and my dogs haven't had any health problems.

Only thing I wish the product can improve, is to maybe include Chicken Fat, instead of using Canola Oil. That will probably make the taste much better for my dogs making them much more interested in it. Canola oil is a cheaper alternative, but its really not a biggie.

This is definitely something I recommend to include in your feeding rotation!

On the sidenote: if you do not want to risk having a 15 pound bag of food that your dog hates, contact Wellness for a sample! They will send a 4oz packet to you, so you can "test" if your dog likes it.

I have two Basenjis both of who are under breed weight/size and who have corn allergies. I cannot stress enough how awesome this food has been for them. Their appetites are up, they are putting on weight, they have more energy where their other food (which was also on the Top Ten Dog Foods List) made them sluggish and caused one to lick a hole in herself. This food has given me my girls back and I recommend it highly to anyone who has issues with small breeds with allergies. We have one female thunder-fireworks-phobic dog and one male fireworks-phobic dog. Neither are the worst case scenario (the word phobic is probably too strong but dog owners know what I mean) but it's heartbreaking to watch them shake, pace and pant, wander the house looking for a safe place, jump up on the bed for a few minutes and down when we're trying to sleep etc. My 80+ pound female even wraps herself around hubby's head when she jumps up on the bed when he's sleeping!

I've tried at minimum 20 different calming tablets over the past 4 years that had no effect whatsoever. Thundershirts with all their great reviews unfortunately did nothing for them, although both dogs looked pretty darn snazzy wearing them and loved wearing them, too. Our male is absolutely fine with thunderstorms but the fireworks are another story.

A few months ago I tried Vetri-Science Composure which was slightly helpful. Then I found the Pet Naturals with the same ingredients, however, the ingredient amounts are about half of the Composure. You'd think you'd have to give double what the Composure dose is just because of that alone but I found that isn't true. The Pet Naturals works better :) and I'm giving her less "stuff" in her system with better results which I like. I then noticed that the Pet Naturals says Sugar Free on the front of the package and I'm thinking that may be what makes the difference. I don't see this on the Composure package. Dogs don't need nor should they have sugared products anyway. We all know what too much sugar can do to kids, so to me sugar free makes more sense and is better for one's dog.

There is nothing that's going to cure them, but the relief our female gets from the Pet Naturals is significant enough that I will continue to buy it. I will be trying them on my male for the upcoming fireworks season. Here it's not one night but a "season" because of all the idiots shooting fireworks off all over the neighborhood that don't care about what their fun is doing to others. Having two fireworks-phobic dogs takes all the fun out of fireworks for us.

She's an 80+ pound dog and I give her 5 chews for thunderstorms. They must be pretty tasty because they both love them and she'll take them even if I miss the beginning of the storm. Normally, she won't eat *anything* and I do mean that literally. I give my male 1/2 of one chew when I dose my female just so he doesn't think he's missing out on anything, LOL! I will probably do 6 for the upcoming fireworks because she's more affected by fireworks.

I did call both companies and asked how long between doses is safe and both companies told me to check w/our vet which I did just this morning. DO NOT go by my vet's recommendation for your own dog -check with your own vet! Anyway, she said I can go with dosing 6-8 hours apart for one day only. If additional days are necessary (we've had several stormy days lately) only 2x per day after that initial day. According to our vet it's the thiamine that they can OD on. So, these should not be given freely nor like candy. They can OD so use it wisely, and contact your vet before you do any dose increases from the regular dose on the package. They do work better if I can beat the storm and get them into her about 30 min prior to that first thunder-boomer.

The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the package for medium to large dogs only contains 21 chews and I would prefer more in a package. I looked at the package for "giant" size dogs which comes in 50 chews but there's *way more* thiamine in that than she can safely have. Even 1/2 a chew would be an overdose of thiamine for their weight according to our vet.

I have Airedale terriers and, like all terriers, they tend to be pretty active (and a bit hyper). My youngest had surgery recently, and the vet told me to keep him calm and not to let him play or jump. Very funny...the man must not know much about 2-yr old terriers. I happened to see these and, liking Pet Naturals of Vt products, thought I'd give them a try. They really work, and the dogs love them. They don't make the animals druggy, but they do take the crazy down a few notches. I have been recommending them to all my friends and now have them on Subscribe and Save order.

I couldn't find these treats in the local grocery store so I order online. My dog loves them. She gets one when we go out so they help with separation anxiety. They are very good for the teeth and gums. They also help to reduce the urge to chew on the furniture. I can't tell you how much I enjoy being able to read my dog food label and know what each ingredient actually is. No by-products, no corn, no wheat, no artificial flavoring or coloring(like my dog really cares what color the kibbles are). I also really love that the food already includes Glucosamine and Chondroiton for my dogs joints, and I did notice a differnce in him after switching from a food that did not contain them.

Its true you are paying more compared to other brands, but take a look at what you're really getting for your money. My dog eats less food on Blue Buffalo, so the food actually lasts me longer even though its more expensive. He also has a better coat and has smaller, healthier stools. Nobody can believe how great my beagle looks and acts. Just today he ran 4 miles with a doggie back pack on with no problem and he'll be 13 in June!

I firmly believe that you are what you eat, if you eat junk you're going to feel like junk and ultimatly be junk! Why not give your dog the fuel his body needs to function and ask yourself: If your dog was faced with a plate of corn, wheat gluten, soybean meal and random animal parts with pretty colors or a plate of deboned chicken, oatmeal, potatoes, carrots and more...which would he dig into?

I have a 2-year old Doberman/Husky mix and he loves this food. It is a little bit on the expensive side, but it really does contain a ton of great ingredients. He is an active dog and I only feed him 3-3 1/2 cups a day and he maintains a very fit weight. This does contain a lot of protein so it keeps "Petey" nice and full all day. I would definitely recommend this product; and, who doesn't think a Blue Buffalo is cool?

I have an 8 year old English Bulldog. His name is Otis but we call him "big dog". He has struggled with allergies/digestive problems for years. I have tried all the grocery store foods with no relief to my "Big Dog". Bruce has allergies and many foods I have tried over the years create various degrees of discomfort in his ears. He shakes his head and sometimes his ears are so painful that he cries. Breaks my heart. I finally found Blue Buffalo and what a difference. His allergy responses are down by 80%. Although not completely gone, he is a much happier dog and Benedryl usually handles his occasional attacks quickly and effectively. I think as he continues to eat this food, the allergies might actually go away completely. He loves the food and plows right into it. He is a big dog, 110 German Shepherd, but he has a dainty stomach. Some foods give him the runs, and being a long-haired dog, the cleaning process is awful for his mom...me. Blue Buffalo creates in my dog what I consider to be "centerfold" quality poop, if a magazine with such pictures existed. He is on the senior recipe, but I think I am going to try the longevity formula, too, now that he is eight years old. Blue Buffalo is worth every penny. I also buy their treats and a can or two of the food. Bruce loves all of these products. He's happy and that's all I want for him!

We started our fuzzbutts on Marshall's becasuse they are Marshall's ferrets, warranty, etc. After some research on the internet we decided to try another brand. Our vet reccomended we try EVO which is a little more expensive but supposed to be healthier for the ferrets (no corn and more protein.) I wouldn't go so far as to say Marshall's is bad since they have been in the ferret business for a long time. The biggest difference for our little guys has been their odors. Two of the first four ingredients for Marshal's are fish. After we switched both the skin and litter box orders pretty much went away. With the Marshal's we always used bi-ordor to help, we no longer have to use it. You should also note that ferrets don't like to try new foods. They become imprented at a fairly young age and a one or two year old usually is not going to accept new food very easily. Change foods by mixing old and new gradually increasing the amount of new. They may....will experience some digestive upset (scour) which will clear up over a few weeks. Our vet reccomends having your ferret eat a couple different foods. we mix a small amount of zupreem with the evo so they are used to both foods in the event we cannot get evo they are adapted to a backup. Before I had a job I didn't have a means to afford this type of food. Once I switched both my ferrets to it I have noticed they are more active, and they are fattening up! Not to say they are too fat, they are just a lot healthier. Buy this item! I get it cheaper from here than from ANY local pet stores.

I bought this when I got my two ferrets because of Marshall's warranty. After doing some research on what's good for ferrets and what's not. I'm not very please with the fact that the 3rd ingredient that this food has is "Corn". Ferrets are meat eaters and cannot digest corn. From what I've read, corn is actually bad for them and can cause intestinal problems. My guess is that Marshall's is using it as a "Filler" to save money instead of thinking about the ferrets well being. Sure they warranty the ferrets for one year as long as you keep them on Marshall food, but my thinking is that it takes more than one year for problems to show up in your ferret.

I won't be buying anymore of this product. Do your ferrets a favor and research the ingredients of this and other brands before purchasing this.

I just wanted to say that my ferret is a Marshall ferret, bred on their farm and we got him when he was only a couple months old, he is now nearly 8 years old and doing very well and has been virtually 100% healthy the whole time we have had him. All he eats is the marshalls brand food. We have tried other stuff "heathier" food and he wont eat it. This stuff is pricey in the store (you save about $5 a bag here) but it's what he likes.

I would have preferred to have our rescue ferret, Hippie, on EVO (which is higher protein and less grain), but it was just too rich for him. (His stool was a little loose on EVO.) (Also, the EVO kibble was a bit too hard for him to chew; the Marshall food appears to be easier for our older boy to chew.)

This product is made in China. It is distributed in the USA, but it is made in China. It took a lot of digging and calling to discover that because they do not want you to know that. It is a good product, but the risk associated with giving your dog chicken from China after two recalls in the last two years is not worth it. In the future, if a product does not say, "MADE IN THE USA" on the packaging, there is probably a reason.

I have a small dog, so I give him a half bone almost every night as his treat. He takes it, scurries out of the kitchen and down the hallway so fast, I think he is going to bust through the wall of the room at the end of the hall. He then barks at the bone for about 15 seconds, then chews it all. I THINK he likes SmartBones.

First, this seller did not disclose that this product was not available. When I confronted them about that, they FINALLY issued a refund (after more than a week). Later, they logged this item on Amazon as SHIPPED. It was NEVER shipped, because they didn't have it in stock.

Through email contact on Amazon and through my email account, they offered me a $20 credit if I would change my negative review on Amazon. I sent the link to the replacement product amounting to less than $20 and they assured they would send the items to me.

NOTHING has been received, and no further contact has been attempted by the seller after I removed the previous review and changed it to a positive review. This is why I'm changing the review back to a NEGATIVE review. These people have LIED in order to encourage a positive review of something I have never received.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER. They will try to BRIBE you into giving a positive review, then breach that promise.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I won't fall for the "small family-run business" boo-hoo crap again.

My dog has a million allergies and he loves these chicken rounds. It definitely gives me pause when I read here that it's made in China, but we've been giving him these for years and he's never had any trouble digesting them.

I have tried several different probiotics both dry and oil. Dry was a complete failure, and the oil has been a winner. Like everything though there are differences in those too. Tried this one and was not impressed. I will return to my previous one Nutri Vet. Although this one was cheaper, I did not notice the changes in their hair, skin and overall smelly problem that I need addressed.
