I've been using Pill Pockets for the last year or so. My dog has never spat one back out, and I find them much easier to use than e.g., peanut butter or bread.

In the past, I've used the tablet size pill pockets, but decided to try the capsule version. For roughly the same price, the capsule version is far more economical. The pill pockets are huge! You can easily split them in half to make the bag last longer. I will never go back to the tablet version again.

These are basically moldable bits of chicken putty, and my liver-spotted dalmatian Jack loves them. Every morning he takes a big fish oil capsule that he thinks is weird on its own and two pills. I tear one of these pill pockets in half, then mush one half of the half around the fish oil and mush the other pills into the other half of the half, and he gobbles it all up without complaint. I'm stingy with these, because they get a little expensive when you have to use them every day, but they really are just the thing for getting a dog to take medicine. I'd use as many of them as necesary to get Jack to take his meds, but so far the economy approach is working. Great product!

I have to give my lab mix 6 capsules a day. This being the dog that can somehow spit out the teeniest-tiniest pill no matter how much good stuff is wrapped around the medication, I was thrilled to find this product. The capsules I have to give her are actually too big for this pocket (hence 4 stars instead of 5) but I can moosh the pill pocket around the capsule well enough that she's eaten the pill pocket and looking for more before she realizes that there's medication hidden inside. With only 30 pill pockets in each 7.9oz pouch, I'll definitely have to buy in bulk. I'm saving so much time and energy and wasted medication; I'd definitely recommend these to anyone who has a dog who hates takes their meds.

These work great for hiding pet medications. Just place the pill inside the pocket, squeeze to seal the edges, and then roll into a ball. I have four dogs, three of which will eat a loaded pill pocket with no problem, but for the fourth who tends to chew her treats thus discovering the pill inside, I simply place a loaded pill pocket inside a bowl of her favorite moist dog food and wait to see that she eats everything. This usually does the trick and she consumes the food along with the loaded pill pocket without noticing anything out of the ordinary.

FYI -

To prevent transfer of medicine smell or taste, do not touch Pill Pockets treat with the hand that held the pill.

I love these things. My dog has arthritis and needs to take medication 3 times a day. Before I found these we had to push the pill to the back of her throat to get a pill down her. We had tried all the usual things that involved putting her pills into various types of food but she always managed to spit out the pills and get the food.

Now with Greenie Pill Pockets the pills go down 1st time every time and no one is traumatized; especially me.

A great idea, if you have a dog taking medication these are fast and easy to use. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Currently, the rabbit for this (and the RAW frozen) are sourced from China. Only the Instinct Dry kibble uses rabbit sourced from France. It's an oddity amongst NV's products (everything else seems to be sourced from the US.) Buyer beware as, despite reassurances, Chinese sourced food has had lots of problems (chemical contamination.) Supposedly, at the moment, NV is looking to change the source for the wet canned and frozen to France as well; but it hasn't happened yet.

This is an expensive food, but it is a life-saver in my household. I have multiple pets, and formulation of Nature's Variety Instinct rabbit food is the same for cats and for dogs. It is acceptable (grain-free, low carb) for my diabetic cat, and it is works for my cat who has food allergies (poultry and ???). My dog also likes it. 5 years ago, he needed to be on a novel protein diet for two months. That's when we discovered rabbit dog food. This food works for all the animals! I don't have to worry about who eats what food when I'm feeding this!

I have a very picky rottie mix who stopped eating most foods a looong time ago. I have her on an air-dried raw diet that she seems to love but am sad that I can no longer continue the variety I once had in her diet. She gave up on the majority of the canned food she used to eat a long itme ago but I also learned that the only way to find what she tolerates is to spend the cash and experiment.

For whatever reason she LOVES this brand canned rabbit even though she's turned down others. I actually think it has to do with the pork liver; she seems to love certain pork products and I think the mix is what does it. She loves it enough it actually got her to eat when I was on vacation and had to leave her with my ex, and for a picky dog that NEVER wouuld eat at his house it's saying a lot!

I actually tried the Nature's Variety canned Duck (also with pork liver) and she ate it the first day but only after a LONG hesitation after she realized she wasn't getting anyting else. (I never feed more than half a can at a time to my dog because I use it for supplemental feeding) By the second day, however, she was licking the bowl clean. The third day when I had run out she was looking at the "wet food" dish so I have a feeling if i purchase it again she'll learn to love it as well.

Hopefully I can introduce the entire NV line to keep the variety going in her diet. Unfortunately she has ALWAYS had issues with her BM's being too loose for my liking so I try to not feed a lot of canned. (the raw diet has definitely helped with that, btw....) For many dogs, however, it's a wonderful supplement as they tend to not get enough water throughout the day.

P.S. It truly stinks that the rabbit is sourced from China as I know there have been a lot of issues with any foods sourced from China. (Plus I'd rather not continute to their economy if possible) Unfortunately it appears that a LOT of the treats that she eats are sourced from there, and since she's picky to begin with it's not always easy to make a switch. Her primary food is not from China, however, and she only get treats sparingly. The training treats we use are sourced in the U.S. and hopefully more manufactuers will continue to listen to consumers and stop sourcing their meat products from there.

My father could no longer take care of his beloved 6 year old Cocker Spaniel, so I decided to take her into my family. When I brought her to NYC she had ear and eye discharge. She was also slightly overweight. After a check up with a vet that ruled out infection, I decided to try Royal Canin based on the numerous good reviews.Within a week her ear and eye problems were gone and she dropped a good amount of weight. This is going to be the only food that we will be feeding her!

Our Spaniel has tried several foods in her 6 years, and this is the only one she will eat by itself without any "people food" being added (of course, we still treat her occasionally). When we went in for our 12 month tooth-cleaning appointment, the vet told us to take her home as her teeth didn't need any cleaning for another 6 months, at least. It is specially designed for their teeth and health needs, and she loves it. And it is actually cheaper here than at the fancy pet store! What more could you ask?

I tired many different dog foods over the 3 yrs I have my cocker spaniel. I then came upon this breed specific dog food & figured I'd try it. My dog loves this food and always finishes his food. I've used this for over 1 yr now & he has not tired of it. I have seen a significant change (for the better) in him, he's more active and doing well.

I only buy this brand food for him now.

Buster gives it 2 paws up & I give it 5 stars.

I bought this for my one year old Cocker. However all the dogs love it. All their coats look better, they all shed less, eat less, use the bathroom less, my Cocker used to have this one chronic ear since the time I have had her as a puppy that it just gave her problems. It seems to have cleared up, no more smell. Her eyes give her less problems. And my 7yr old Yorkie he eats less, he used to throw up all the time had the most sensitive tummy. Our black lab mix, hot spots and she would just lick her fur off. All these great changes in a matter of a month. I do mix it roughly 50/50 with Naturals dog food blend. They are doing great.

Sept 2012

I love this breed specific food, however I just went to place my next bi-monthly order and I am shocked at the price hike in just over a month! I paid

$41.79 on Aug 3 for a 25lb bag and here it is Sept 20Th and the price has is now $53.94, a difference of $12.15 in price! This is a huge amount to go up considering that I am assuming this is a price gouge; due to the speculation over crops :( I will look to my local vet for this product. I can get a large bag now less at Petco as well with the discounts they offer. They will order a larger bag if you ask.

We have a diabetic dog, Vet put her on that W food and she looked like she was near death and hair grew awful. I did some research and this food was highly recommended but was not exactly for diabetic dogs. Well we ordered and she LOVES it, we mix salmon and chicken together she has gained weight back, acts 100 percent better and her hair is beautiful. The only thing is we have to give her shot of insulin as soon as she eats so her sugar will not rise. But she is 11 years old and if she is happy and healthy then we are to. Thank you sooo much Nutrisca and I would recommend this dog food to anyone.

After years of searching and trying alternative foods I've finally found it! High(ish) protein and moderate fat. Lower in calories. Perfect grain-free kibble for senior and diabetic pooches! No more tear stains and no more dry skin. I don't feed her chicken anymore but rotate the Lamb in every other month. Don't be fooled by grain-free foods with a ton of potatoes and tapioca because it's just as likely they will cause issues as it is for corn and rice to. Keep an Eye out for their new Cat formulas in summer 2013.

My 6 lb Pom-Chi mix has severe food allergies. I've spent the entire year I've had her trying to find a food that a) didn't cause allergic reactions, b) she could and would eat. All foods she can eat safely have a kibble size that she can't handle. Even prescription food. I actually broke my food processor trying to break up kibble from a well known prescription diet. If food is that sense and dehydrated, it make you wonder how much nutrition she's actually getting. A lot of foods have some ingredient(s) that cause her to itch, scratch and have watery eyes. More than a few she wouldn't eat sniffed and walked away and no matter how much I coaxed her they were epic fails. I was at my wits end trying to find the right food when a friend recommended Nutrisca Salmon and Chickpea.

Nutrisca Salmon and Chickpea has been a success for the most part. The kibble size and density is perfect for a tiny girl and she LOVES it so much I use it for training treats. Seeing my picky girl dance for her food is so fun to watch. She still has some mild allergy responses that could be environmental but with a minimal dose of antihistamine, she's as close to a "normal" dog as I've seen so far. Her coat is healthy and shiny, bald patches are filling in and she's got eyelashes for the first time in her life!

My only complaint is that I can't find this food locally but Amazon Prime makes it even easier delivered right to my door!

this are hard to find in the store so we buy them often here.. they are one of the few kong treats that work for the 2xl kong... we have the largest size due to the size of our german shepard and she still can get the treats with ease but they work the best compared to any other product out there that we have found...

As a dental chew: rather pricey.

As a dental chew, it's good enough since it is rather hard and helps clean teeth. There is no mouth deodorizer ingredient in them though. There are better dental treats out there.

As a kong filler: useless.

For the price vs. enjoyment time, it's not worth it at all. The dogs stay interested much longer if I put peanut butter in there and even if I bought the no salt no sugar organic peanut butter it wouldn't cost me as much. If you stick them in the kong the way they are supposed to, they are too easy to get out. If you jam them the opposite way, they are virtually impossible for the dog to get out (had to use a chopstick) because they don't really crumble or get smoother as the dog work at the kong. The chew, if you buy the right size, must be pulled out from its tip, once broken it can't be chewed out. Apparently, my 3 dogs do not think these smell good enough to keep working at them once they can't reach with their tongue anymore. With peanut butter, they will lick and chew until the next day or until we take the kong away.

In terms of shape, they look like a key with some groves. Or like half a bone. We put bone cookies in the Kong before and they worked, but they made a mess since the dogs basically had to pulverize the cookie to get it out once the tip was chewed off. These chew can't really be pulverized. They are harder and have a waxy consistency. So I guess it saves the mess drier cookies make.

Try it, but if you're budget sensitive, you'll find better options.

Buy Dental Dog Treat Now

These are my 3 year old wire fox terrier's favorite treats of all, and he's a picky little guy. He's not a big fan of even smoked, flavored rawhides, and sometimes may even turn his nose up at a smoked pig ear (though that is rare and usually just when he's pouting). These he NEVER turns down, and he goes absolutely berserk when I open the pack and he smells aroma wafting down. And they do have a fairly strong, though not unpleasant odor fairly citrusy. That's not too surprising, because these treats are full of vitamin C, which according to the packaging is important for canine dental health (I assume lack of vitamin C in a dog's diet can cause a similar condition to scurvy). Since Vitamin C is a non water soluble vitamin, it is important not to overdose your dog (water soluble vitamins like B vitamins are nearly impossible to overdose on because you/your dog will just pee excess vitamin out, but with non water soluble vitamins like vitamin C, it can accumulate in the body and, in excess, cause harm), so stick to the recommended daily "dose" on the packaging. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to neatly break them into smaller pieces (I don't even bother), so these are not ideal training treats.

As for how long these treats last, I think that depends on your dog's breed and your individual dog. They are each rather dense and heavy. My little wire fox tends to demolish things pretty quickly he consumes a large smoked pig ear in less than five minutes, he once ripped a plank of wood off the side of the garage while trying to get to a groundhog, etc, and these treats last him about 30 seconds. One thing that I found interesting about these treats in particular is that, though he seems to love the flavor, he also seems compelled to drink a healthy several gulps from his water bowl after finishing one. Surely enough, the packaging says to make sure your pet has access to water when given these treats. So, two things I think are important to mention: don't overfeed these treats to your pet, and make sure your pet has access to water. The package says max 2 treats per day; he's a little guy so I just give him one.

As far as his breath is concerned, I haven't really noticed any change, perhaps it has an added citrus scent for a few minutes after he finishes the treat, but that's it. I don't think these are breath-freshening so much as they supply the dog important nutrients for his/her oral health, but perhaps some people like the added citrus scent to their pet's breath. They're not a substitute for tooth brushing (or using a brushless tooth cleaner), but they do make an excellent treat!

So, in summary: wonderful treat that dogs love, not great for training because it can't be broken down, contains vitamin C for oral health so you don't want to give your dog too many in one day, and very mildly freshens breath for a few minutes, and takes a 25 pound terrier about 30 seconds to consume, so it is something of a cross between a nutritious treat and a short-lived toy.

These are your typical compressed rawhide bones. The 4" is a little on the small side for larger sized dogs, but is perfect for small to smaller medium sized dogs. The compressed rawhide treats take much longer for my dogs to devour than regular rawhide, and they love chewing them more than they do their rubber or plastic toys. It keeps them occupied for at least 30-45 minutes, or about 20 for my larger dog with more powerful chompers. Still better than the 2 minutes they would take on a regular rawhide! They love these treats, so I love them too. Worth every penny.

Truly wish these rawhide bones were made in the USA where there is some regulation on what is put in them. Heard too many stories of dog treats and such that are made in China which have toxic substances that cause illness and death. So far, I have been luck with my two dogs, however, I did lose a 4 yr. old to cancer two years ago which I think may have been due, in part, to feeding him freeze dried chicken treats, made in China....

Also wish these were easier to find in 10 and 12 inch sizes at a reasonable price as my big dogs go through one in less than a day.

These are great. The pressed rawhides last much longer than regular rawhides. They are economical when purchased in a 50-pack. Only disadvantage I saw was that they get very slimey and leave a residue on the carpet if they chew them inside. Great if outside or in the garage or on a hard surface floor. Also it would be best to throw them when they are down to a small piece in order to avoid the dog swallowing the last bit that may get caught or will take awhile to digest.

I just got back from the vet, and I felt compelled to write this review. Hopefully some pet owners out there will take this review into consideration before purchasing antlers for their dog. Our 1.5 year old corgi just got his back molar extracted because antlers fractured his teeth. We were hoping to save it by doing a root canal and placing a crown on, but it was fractured so bad that it's not even an option.

When I was buying antlers for our Corgi, I thought that it was the best thing out. I didn't mind paying for the expensive antlers because they were suppose to natural and good for my dog. When we went to the Veterinary Specialist today who specializes in dentistry for dogs, she said that the fact that these companies claim that antlers clean your dog's teeth is a myth and many dogs end up fracturing their teeth from chewing on antlers.

Please take this into consideration when purchasing antlers!! I thought i did my research when it comes to antlers, but my poor 1.5 year old Corgi just lost one of his most important molars and i'm out $2,118.59.

We have three Golden Retrievers from age 1 /2 6 years old. We located this product at a large Christmas craft fair last December. We brought two of them home to give to the two older dogs. They absolutly LOVE them.!

They'll get tired of their toys but when we bring out this ELK ANTLER chew, they get all excited and could chew away for hours (if we let them. It's amazing how long they have lasted! These are a GREAT VALUE for the money considering that we have not had to buy any other chew sticks, etc. for them all year long.

We also met the owner and creator of this product at the fair. A very nice gentleman who is genuinely interested more in the pets health & happiness vs. just trying to make a sale.

I cannot imagine dog owner being disappointed.

I had read about antlers as dog chews and asked my vet if he thought they were safe. He said yes, so I ordered 2 for my German Shepherds. I hoped they would love them since they cost $20 each.. They both absolutely love them and I'm sure they will last a long time. It's nice that they don't smell or leave a yucky residue on carpet. I also appreciated that they were available with Prime shipping.

My dogs are strong chewers, so I need very durable toys. I have wasted money on some durable toys because my dogs aren't interested in them.

The antlers are a winner!

We've been purchasing Elk Antlers for our 50lb labradoodle for over a year now, he's a very aggressive chewer and there are few toys that he doesn't get through quickly (5 minutes for a black kong...). The local store's price on the antlers went through the roof -$30 for a "jumbo" which was very thin and only about 7" long! So, I went in search of a more reasonable seller and found these via Amazon. I ordered one for 50-75lb dog -it's about 1.5" diameter and 8-9" long. My dog has been chewing on it avidly for 2 weeks and there's little sign of wear, so the quality is equal to the overpriced ones from the local store, at less than half the price. Overall, I'm very pleased and will definitely be purchasing more of these. Very highly recommend for any avid chewer!

Technical Aspects:

The elk rack looks different from the picture, probably because since these are animal parts, every animal is different. It is thick at the base and thinner at the end. Upon measuring it with a straight edge ruler, mine is around 8 inches long NOT accounting for the curve, which would make it longer. I think it's thick enough at the thickest base part, is exactly 3 inches wide; at the thinnest part, it is about the width of a nickel. It doesn't smell at all. Also, if this thing lasts more than two weeks with my master chewer (see below), I would totally buy this again but I'll certainly update this review if I have to replace it in less than a month (a month would be amazing considering my situation).

Full Review:

I HIGHLY recommend this elk bone for the disgruntled toy/bone buyer with an aggressive and busy chewer. My annoying search for the ultimate toy/bone has finally come to an end!

My 8 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix makes it her mission to tear apart and destroy every single toy I give her. No problem, but then she eats the stuffing, or the squeakers, or the wool, etc. She eats it all. Then it comes out of her in the backyard, or in the occasional vomit. But indestructible toys are of no interest to her she likes a puzzle. I also tried the huge femur bones, but once she chews at it and gets her teeth in the hole, she cracks off pieces, which she'll swallow if I don't catch her. So I was left with nothing. I ordered this rack due to the reviews because without having given her something new for her to chew, she was going crazy. Waiting and waiting, I gave her old Amazon boxes and paper towel tubes to destroy because she won't swallow them, but they only keep her busy for 2 minutes.

ENTER ELK RACK.

The moment I handed her this glorious new toy/bone, she did what she always does, take it happily and prance about displaying her new toy. She put it down, smelled and licked it then gripped it with her teeth. For the next 15 minutes, she did not let it go (I watched her to see how long she'd be interested). When she had to go potty, she still didn't let it go. Did her business with it in her mouth, came back in. When we took her out to visit the vet on an unrelated matter, she STILL wouldn't let it go as we put on her harness. It wasn't until we were out the door and she knew she was going somewhere that she dropped it!

After coming back home, she immediately found the bone in her cage and has been playing with it for the last 1.5 hours. 30 minutes ago, she took a five minute break but came back to it. She keeps taking it around the house to chew it in different places. She is still mesmerized by this thing and I can hear her teeth really grinding down on it, *trying* to destroy it somehow! I love this thing.

NEVER has this dog ever treated any toy/bone as preciously as this, and NEVER has this kind of attention-grabbing toy/bone lasted so long. Usually the more compelling treats are devoured instantly (like bully sticks) and the longer lasting toys are either simply not interesting to her at all (like those durable plastic toys) or become dangerous upon breaking apart because she loves to destroy.

*One Day Later* this bone never leaves her mouth. At most it has slight dents and ground-off color, but it's totally intact AND she has not stopped chewing at it since I handed it to her a day ago. This is a miracle!

*Three Days Later* same! See picture, which I uploaded to show 3 full days of incessant chewing and grinding! My boyfriend and I are so insanely happy with this thing so we will always pick it up and bring it to her bed on the floor at night so she can chew it to sleep and then chew it in the morning when she's anxious to get up and be fed and starts pestering everyone and the cat! Plus, it is still barely affected by her constant grinding teeth and not one piece has broken off. It seems to have some kind of lasting flavor and appeal because she simply doesn't tire of chewing at it when she's restless (which is all day, every day)! I LOVE this bone. And she spends hours throughout the day chewing on it. For real! I call it her "horn" because she carries it around all the time at its base with the tip pointing up and out like she's blowing a horn.

*9 Days Later* same! The bone is slightly more ground down, but she comes back to it every morning and throughout the day like it's her 'binkie.' In fact, my boyfriend's mom was asking about it because she was astonished at its appeal and now wants one for her dog!

*Several months later (October 15, 2012) After three months of incessant chewing, the antler bone got down to about 3 inches, and I had to take it away from her before she tried to swallow it whole! Still highly recommended! I ended up giving her a new antler bone and she continued to love it! There will be a couple weeks that go by without her chewing it because she'll lose it somewhere and I can't find it, but every so often when I find it, she's back in business!

I've been using the Paw Salve nightly on our dog with allergies who spends a lot of time licking her feet. She doesn't seem to be licking/biting her feet as much, and you can see that her pads look healthier (not so dry) after applying the salve.~ Erin D., Corpus Christi, TX

We have been buying the various dog treat products that Blue Dog Bakery manufactures for the last 4 years.

We have three dogs that we rescued: "Sampson" an 11 year old American Rough Collie, "Delilah" a 10 year old "Golden Retriever" and "Bear" a 5 year old Great Pyrenees. They go crazy over these treats. Our "children" have dog friends that we see along our daily walk, who wait at the window in their home for us to come by. They come running out to the gate so they can get some of our dog's treats. I have tried other products on the market, but our "Kids" won't eat anything other than Blue Dog Bakery treats.

My dogs love these and they are small, so I don't worry about portion control for my smaller dog. They work well for all sizes.

We have given our dogs and horses the peanut butter and molasses treats for years. Everybody loves them and I can fit a lot in my pocket to feed the horses in the pasture as we walk our golden. I also buy bigger ones, but we have five small dogs and these are great for everybody. Molasses is a super food for dogs and horses. Win-win-win for all our canines and equines.

I love the fact that these treats are healthy for my pet. I have lost a Siberian from cancer so I am trying to get the best treats and food for my pet. We also use Blue Buffalo dog food which has just the right ingredients to keep her from the same fate. The company has the best price for these treats, you can't get them for less anywhere else. Nice people to do business with.

For me, the most important thing is that I know what my dog is eating. I will not buy any dog food/treat not made in the USA or Canada. This severely limits my options. Thank goodness for smaller labels like Cloud Star. I only wish that other pet food companies would take a hint and stop using Chinese ingredients and start making a better quality product (on a side note, Newman's own is a good organic brand that makes good treats).

Anyway, my little buddy has pancreatitis, so he cant have high fat/low quality food. I used to feed him those chicken jerky strips, but after the pet food recall I check all the labels and have not been able to find anything that isn't made in China or "irradiated for safety."

These treats are %5 (min), which is pretty low. Aside from knowing that these treats are made in the USA, as are all of the ingredients too, the best part about these treats is that they really are soft and chewy. I can break one up into about 10 pieces super quickly and my dog thinks that he is now getting 10 treats instead of one. Either way he adores these treats. I'm glad I've found something that is well priced, quality, good for training, and made in the USA!

Here are the ingredients (not bad considering this is a treat!)

Chicken, unbleached wheat flour, tapioca starch, maple syrup, glycerin, rice flour, wheat gluten, gelatin, natural flavor, sea salt, garlic powder, natural smoke flavor, phosphoric acid, sorbic acid, mixed tocopherols (natural preservative).

My dog LOVES these Buddy Biscuits!! She is a small dog (7 1/2 pounds) and alot of treats are just too big for her. These treats are very small in size and look like tiny gingerbread men. So cute!! I like that they are made in the USA, which is something I look for when purchasing an item (especially food of any kind!!). I purchased these treats once just to try them, and I am so pleased by my dog's reaction to them that I will be purchasing them from now on. Overall, highly recommended!!!

My dog does unbelievable things for a Buddy Biscuit! They're soft, easy to eat (no grazing for crumbs), easy to break into tiny pieces (don't want your dog to get fat because of training!), and reasonably priced. I couldn't be happier with them.

My two dogs love these! The shapes are adorable. I like to break them into pieces for training. I don't like that they crumble easily and they kinda stink like packaged bacon. Otherwise, my dogs would practically stand on their heads for these things and that's the whole point.

Our Chinese Cresteds do agility and even though they are very food oriented, it's important to have a variety of special treats to keep them motivated. For our breed, these are perfect because they are small and soft and the dogs think they're fabulous! The 4 pack is a good price, too.
