I know these say they are Puppy Dog Treats on the package but my 3 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel just loves them!! I try not to give her too many at once but I usually go through at least one package of them a week. Now the only drawback if you even call it that is that they are much softer than the regular braided treats so they don't last as long.

UPDATE 9/21/11: Please be advised that my original review (those comments listed above) was based on the ORIGINAL Nylabone Toro Puppy Treats. The company has since completely changed the formula and when I gave my dog these new treats she ended up throwing up. At first I thought it was just a "one off" experience but later on I gave one to my ex-wife's dog and they too ended up getting sick and throwing up. Needless to say I will NOT be buying anymore of these so called "puppy treats." Personally I think the company just discontinued the original recipe and are now marketing what used be their "Adult Toro Braid Treats" as "Puppy Treats".

This item is OK, however my dog won't eat them. He prefers the other Puppy Briad chicken (not the multi-colored one).

My puppy likes these well enough but she gets bored when it starts to unravel and then it makes such a mess. I switched to the solid sticks/bones.

The toy is tough but if you have an obsessive chewer with big sharp teeth(like I do) it's still going to break in 3 days. That's what it took my medium sized terrier to chew open one of the corners and start pulling out the stuffing.

I've had this toy for my dog since last Christmas and it's still kicking! It is a lot larger than I had anticipated because it's a 'Mega Gear' toy, but I'm still really happy with it and how it's held up!

I have an 8 month old Rottweiler puppy who destroys absolutely every toy we've gotten (and things that aren't toys like furniture, remote controls, kids toys, socks, shoes, etc). We've had this ring for a few months now and it's completely intact. She throws it around, we play tug of war, and it takes a beating-not a single stitch is gone. I would buy these toys again and again. The cost of one of these and the fact that it lasts is way better than buying a $4 toy (like I did at Target tonight) where she tears the soft part apart within 5 minutes.

I had high hopes for this toy. We have had other toys from this brand, but this toy didn't withstand my dog. It took 5 minutes for him to tear the edge off the ring, and from there it is game over. Once he can access the inside of the toy, I might as well throw it out. He had been walked for two hours so he wasn't even releasing frustration. It was just regular playing. Oh well.

We bought this toy after reading reviews and talking with our local pet shop owner, hearing that this line of toys is supposedly the strongest stuffed toy on the market and is tested by real live tigers! (This particular one is a 10/10 on durability, according to the manufacturers ratings).

DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE HYPE.

Less than 2 days with the toy, our 40 lb. lab-mix had ripped through the outer edges in 3 places. By day 4, he had ripped through the interior fabric (supposedly made out of industrial strength/grad material) and had begun pulling out the stuffing. Less than one week after we purchased the toy, I had taken out all of the stuffing (thanks to the giant hole he created) and removed all the squeakers (almost all of themone casualty occurred when I wasn't watching). We had to stop him from swallowing large chunks of fabric multiple times before ultimately taking the toy away for good.

Our dog is about a year and a half old and while he loves chewing toys, he isn't as aggressive or destructive as other dogs I've seen. I can only imagine how quickly a larger dog would go through this and cannot justify spending $30 on something that lasts such a short time.

My two dogs USED TO LOVE these treats. Just the right size not giant (and therefore affordable) but they still took a while for them to chew through. These WERE their favorite treats. And they were healthy and good for their teeth and gums.

But having received a recent re-order, I am now editing my own review and downgrading from five stars to one. THEY HAVE CHANGED THESE TREATS. They are NOT WRAPPED IN CHICKEN anymore. They have some kind of PAINT on them instead of chicken. It doesn't even smell like chicken. This is so disappointing. If you are re-ordering these thinking you'll get the old wonderful Chewritos you won't. Change is significant enough that I recommend NOT ORDERING. It's misleading labeling. It's NOT a chicken wrap. It is a rawhide wrap that has been dipped in some kind of chemical/yeast/smoke flavor coating.

This product has changed from the original that my dogs loved. These are NOT wrapped in chicken as the packaging and product description will have you believe. This is my 2nd attempt to get the old product without success. Evidently, these have replaced the quality product we used to receive. When I opened them I discovered these flimsy strips of rawhide that are now painted with this mystery substance. The rawhide is like very thin cardboard. There is absolutely NO chicken on these. I contacted Beefeaters and they have not responded. This company is advertising falsely and making a huge profit on this garbage!! Save your money and start looking for a new product. My dogs would not touch these!! I will not be purchasing anything made by this company again. They raised the prices on these too, while replacing quality with crap. So disappointing!

I've been feed grain-free for many years, back when Innova Evo seemed to be the only company available at the local pet food store (not big stores like Petsmart). I switched off Evo a few years ago when grain prices increased and never decreased... taking my normal $40/large bag to $44 to $46 and now $50. The knowledgeable owner recommended Taste of the Wild as comparable and much less expensive at $30/large bag. This is much more cost effective for us since we have four cats to feed.

I periodically re-research the state of cat foods to check whether Taste of the Wild is still comparable to the best available brands and it's held steady among the more expensive brands for several years (Innova Evo, Orijen, Wellness Core, etc.) Recently, I did more research and found that wet food/raw frozen food/raw homemade food is the best option for healthy kitties, NOT any kind of dry processed food (although grain free is still better than other substandard brands). However, dry food is still the most convenient for early morning automatic feedings, short trips away from home, and having a backup supply.

This food, both this and the other available flavor, has been fine for the cats. They think it's tasty, don't barf it up (only one cat has issues and it's from scarfing his food in two minutes flat, not the food itself), and it keeps their coats healthy. Their weight seems stable (although the two fat cats stay fat from stealing food and human leftovers), energy levels fine (for an animal that sleeps 16hrs/day), and they're not eating scary junk (which is what I now think of the Iams/Eukanuba they ate before I went grain-free). Handling the food isn't bad, it smells like cat food, but not overwhelmingly gross (some dry kibble can be strongly odorous). The price point is the best plus for me for a dry food.

Regarding other posts about unhappy cats... GRADUALLY introduce a new food. If your animal notices that there's something different or just refuses to eat, you're probably doing it too fast.

Also, I'm not that concerned about the ethoxyquin issue that someone else pointed out (that particular poster is also talking about dog food forums too). Many manufacturers claim that it gets eliminated from the high heat (heavy processing that makes dry food so much unhealthier for cats in general) and others claim that all non-human consumption "ocean fish" get treated with ethoxyquin under US law which dissipates over time, yadda yadda, etc. Basically, there's a lot of talk about it and not a whole lot of evidence that it has any provable effects on animals. Just about everything processed nowadays seems to cause cancer or other horrible things. The non-ethoxyquin foods still mislead consumers (farm fish instead of ocean fish, etc.) or just use human-grade fish, which makes it MUCH more expensive. If you're that concerned about getting the best food quality and absolute healthiest diet for your beloved pet, IMO, you shouldn't be using dry cat food at all.

My cat Sno Ball love this food and I like the fact that it is grain free and all natural. I highly recommend this product but just keep in mind that since most domestic cats are used to processed kitty food, it may take them a while to get used to it.

Since he's been eating this food, I noticed is that it makes his poo smells EXTRA strong. I have a small apt so I almost passed out when I came in the other day and it smelled like he had pood right on the floor when it fact he pood in his litter box and it was covered up. Thats some strong food. He's only been on it for a week so we'll see how it progresses. Maybe his digestive system has to get used to it.

I don't know whether she has a hereditary predisposition to a delicate digestive constitution or whether it was my daughters' Polly Pocket doll clothes, which she has twice ingested and for which she was twice treated by a veterinarian, but my eight-year old house cat vomits when she eats any cat food that contains cereal fillers. What a pain in the rear end! Front end, actually. As my cat's gastrointestinal challenges worsened, it took me a while to identify the source of the problem and then a while longer, through trial-and-error, to find a food she could eat and keep down. Finally, I found it: Taste of the Wild Dry Cat Food.

I'm pretty sure the key is the omission of cereal/corn fillers in the recipe, but I believe there probably is another reason, too. (I'd tell if I knew.) I'd tried other foods with no fillers before, but still had the same problem, although not quite as pronounced. Maybe it's the venison and/or the salmon, which could be more easily digested by cats than other proteins. I don't know. Whatever the reason, I buy only Taste of the Wild for my cat. We adopted another cat from the local shelter near the end of last year, a one-year old, and switched him from Iams (which the shelter uses) to Taste of the Wild. All good; almost six months later, he's flourishing.

No, I'm not an employee, vendor, distributor, or any other person or entity related directly or indirectly to the manufacturer. The stuff is just really good.

My cat has had bloody stools since I brought her home three years ago. Since I started my cat on this food she does not have bloody stools. My vet did all kinds of tests on her but never suggested we go grain free. This food is a lifesaver, I don't think my cat would have had a normal lifespan if this would have continued. Some of the reviews I read said the cat's poop smelled much worse with this food, but we haven't noticed any difference.

Want Taste of the Wild Dry Cat Food, Rocky Mountain Feline Formula with Roasted Venison and Smoked Salmo Discount?

After rescuing a kitten a few months ago, I now have 3 cats. Something is wrong with him, but the vets can't figure out what...all tests are negative yet he's losing hair and vomiting. My oldest cat had digestive problems from the start ... I had to force feed her digestive enzymes for almost 2 years just so she could get any nutrients since her body wasn't creating the necessary enzymes... she was 5 years old, very long and only 3.5 pounds! She kept eating and eating, but it just went straight through her in a not so pleasant way. She has been on non-prescription food and medication free for 3 years, but now she has been vomiting occasionally for months and has started getting scabby patches from allergies that just keep coming back.

So between the two of them, I ended up with partially digested piles of science diet in all sorts of places in my house. Thank the heavens for hardwood floors. Wet food? Ha, not a chance it will stay down... and they even turn up their noses at treats these days.

So they've only been on this food for a week (about 50/50 this food and old food)... all vomiting has stopped by all 3 cats, hair is regrowing, scabs are healing and everyone is eating. When switching food I expected there to be some extra vomiting... especially by my older female, but nope not a single incident all week... all 3 adore it, they already have more energy, and seem to be doing well.

I'm THRILLED that there is a grain free dry food formula... I looked into more appropriate diets (aka not 60% carbs) several years ago, but I didn't have the time, patience, or schedule necessary to feed all wet food. So this is great.

I will update after they've been on the food longer. Also can't beat having food delivered to my door (up 3 flights of stairs) without paying shipping.

I am not sure where the previous reviewer got their information, but if you do actual research, on actual websites (some you have to subscribe to), Nature's Variety is a 5 star dog food INCLUDING the Instinct treats. This is why I feed NV food and treats to my purebread dog and cat. I would much rather feed my pet human grade food that is made as nature intended animals to eat...it's worth every extra penny I spend.

Here is an excerpt from Petsumerreport.com, which is one of the websites that gave this treat 5 stars: "Plus: The Nature's Variety representative told me the ingredients are human quality/grade. This food contains friendly bacteria (benefits the intestinal system and in turn the immune system of the pet); included in Guaranteed Analysis (company guarantees viable bacteria). Minus: Contains Garlic controversial ingredient."

While they did mention the use of garlic, the product was still rated 5 stars, and my dog has NEVER gotten sick off these biscuits (I only give him NV biscuits). They smell like actual food and have a nice consistency not "cardboard" like some pet treats made of ingredients you don't even recognize. You can easily break each treat into 3-4 pieces if using for training purposes.

I feel the product should actually be used by the reviewer in order to make a credible review of the product. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND ALL NATURE'S VARIETY PRODUCTS, based on ACTUAL use!!!!! Give them a try, your dog will thank you :-)

I love these treats, everything about them is good. The ingredients are fantastic, not too expensive, (although not exactly cheap), they're easy to split up but don't end up all crumbled at the end of the box. they even *smell* good! and my dog loves them. 11 oz is a good size.

I've tried 3 of the 4 flavors, far as I can tell he likes them all equally.

oh, and the reviewer below giving a warning, they are incorrect, garlic is toxic in concentrated amounts, not in a daily treat at the bottom of the ingredient list. If you fed enough of these treats for the garlic to be an issue, garlic would be the least of your problems. lol.

OK, I am a veterinarian with a Masters in nutrition if this helps my credibility) and one of my most common questions to owners when they bring in a dog with year-round allergies and/or ear infections is "Is your dog on Beneful or Kibbles 'N Bits?" If they are and I put them on a grain-free diet they almost always get better. I've even seen dogs seizure when they get switched to this. I would never let my own pets touch this stuff. I have found that other vets experience the same thing when they research the diets their patients are on. That said, if your pet doesn't have any allergies to this you may be all right. I have found that some patients get addicted to it, probably due to the processed oils and sugar that is included in the ingredient list. The commercials do well to make you think it is good stuff I once even had a brain surgeon client feed his dog this stuff so don't feel like you should have known better. The foods I have had the best experience with is Nature's Recipe and Wellness. I am also one of those vets that loves the raw diet if it is done correctly.

I bought this dog food because the bag showed pictured of veggies and chunks of meat, and with a name like "Beneful" I thought I was purchasing a nutritious brand of dog food. My dogs did eat this food at first, and slowly began to not like it. After reading the ingredients I completely regret purchasing it and feel just awful for feeding it to my dogs. The first three ingredients are Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, and corn gluten meal. How disgusting is that?! The main ingredient is a corn filler. One thing my vet told me a while back that I never forgot: "When you eat corn, what comes out of the other end? The same thing happens with dogs." Basically, dogs cannot fully digest corn as they are carnivores. Corn it is just a cheap filler that can cause dogs to actually eat more to feel full, poop out more, and retain less nutrients. Most inexpensive low-quality pet foods have lots of these fillers and cheap ingredients with little to no nutritional value. The only meat in Beneful at all is a by-product, its not even a real meat! By-products are the stuff leftover once all the actual meat is harvested. We're talking beaks, chicken feet, eyeballs, even chicken poop! I would not recommend this product to anyone, for any reason, ever. It is an absolutely awful dog food. I can't believe the pictures of veggies and full chunks of meat on the bag can be allowed to be on the packaging if the product does not contain the pictured items; it is very misleading and should be considered false advertising.

I recommend to stay far away from Beneful, and most Purina products. When purchasing a dog (or cat) food, the most important thing to consider is the first 3 ingredients; just make sure those first three are decent ingredients that you would eat yourselfprovided that you eat a typical (non vegetarian or other restricted) diet. Now that I know what to look for, I usually buy my pets all natural foods such as Natural Balance, Blue Buffalo, Halo, or Wellness. High-quality foods tend to be more nutritionally dense, meaning you will be feeding a much smaller amount for the same number of calories. If you do the math to figure out the cost for the number of calories you need to feed your pet, many premium foods are CHEAPER than the awful crap you're buying at the grocery store.

DANGEROUS! before purchasing check on line for the crap nutritional value and the dangers. i got some and my dog was terrible after 1 feeding. lethargic, glazed, labored breathing. i googled to see if anyone else had problems and i was totally floored by how so many people lost their dogs after feeding. some after 1 meal some a few days. purina also knew there was a lot of contaminated bags and they opted not to recall. if nothing else their food is inexpensive for a good reason. i am sure there are others that are not crazy expensive and don't potentially kill your pet.

I have to order pet foods online because of a physical problem that makes it difficult for me to carry the bags. For years I have fed my animals Purina foods, puppy, adult and senior dogs and cats, so I ordered Beneful for my four-year-old. This was not the variety I had bought in stores, but I trusted the Purina name. Cricket ate it enthusiastically, so I just ordered another bag. Since then I have learned of many illnesses in dogs eating Purina. To date no recall has been ordered. As far as I can determine from my research, Nestle/Purina has made no statement about this situation. When I read about the problems with dogs eating Beneful, I actually looked at the Amazon reviews and then at the ingredients list on the Beneful bag. I am ashamed that I didn't do this earlier, but as I said I trusted the Purina name. I was not happy with the ingredients list and I am not happy that the manufacturer has chosen not to address this problem, even to defend the product. I am not rich, but I will feed my pets the best food I can find, and from now on I will look very closely at the ingredients, from any manufacturer. My dog has not shown any ill results from the Beneful she has so far eaten, but I will not buy it again: let's face it: Cricket may love the taste, but if it makes her sick it's not worth it. Nor will I buy the Purina ProPlan or Cat Chow that I also ordered. Purina has lost my trust. Before you buy pet food again, either at the store or online, I urge you to look for recalls. You can easily do this online.

I used to get those black so-called super tough Kong balls, but from almost day one my dog would start chewing the outer layer of rubber off and eating it. Not good. I'd end up tossing them after a week or two and buying another one. Pretty stupid, huh? I decided to give the Bionic Ball a try, and it lasted a full three months!

Yeah, I have to buy another one, but it's cheaper and more durable than the Kong. Merlin chewed and chewed and chewed and there were no little bits of rubber coming off for him to swallow until the very end, after very rigorous chewing. I definitely recommend this ball for tough chewers. Merlin's a 60lb. Pit Bull mix, if that gives you any idea. His favourite game is pouncing the ball and kicking it back to me, but he does get into the chewing quite a bit.

This toy is designed for smaller breed dogs, and it lives up to its reputation so far. I bought this for a dachshund puppy that chews on virtually everything and manages to destroy and eat most of that. She also has the attention span of a gnat, but she loved this ball the minute I gave it to her. She's played with it for several days now (gnawing it, chasing it, tossing it in the air), and she hasn't managed to inflict one dent or toothmark. The ball has a slight bounce to it, and the design makes it wobble when it rolls. To see her engaged and happy without having to worry about her chewing up yet another toy makes this one worth the price.

This toy is a ton of fun. You can throw it against the opening to make it wobble, or against the ridges to bounce normally. It fits my chuckit perfectly! It also floats which is amazing considering how durable it is! Be sure to watch the size listing on the packaging as the company hasn't yet made sizes for all dogs.

These are okay treats. I bought them because someone gave me the small chew sticks with Bacon flavor for Xmas and my 2 Pomeranians LOVE them. I decided to see about ordering them from Amazon since I could not find them in the store, but the reviews really scared me! A number of people said their dogs got very sick from them, threw up from them and one even had to have surgery because a piece got stuck in it's digestive tract!

I have never had a bad experience with the Bacon Chew Sticks personally, but the reviews scared me enough to try the little chew bites instead and there were no seriously bad reviews about the Peanut Butter ones.

However, my pups don't go crazy for these like they did the Bacon Chew Sticks. Oh well. It isn't worth taking a risk now knowing other people's experiences. I'd rather spend more and make sure I get a good quality product. I recently started buying homemade treats from my local PetSavers store. I have peace of mind and my boys love them!

We've been using the Merrick ears for years but the prices have certainly gone up, and we're looking for a cheaper alternative. I don't think this is it for us. The ears are HUGE and definitely have a meaty end to them, but they're greasy compared to Merrick. Our dogs took the ears reluctantly and stared at them for a while... finally one dog ate his. Alas we've found undigested pieces of the ear when he potties. They may work for some dogs, but they're not good for ours.

This is a good cushion, and is adecuate as a flotation device. What I don't like about the cushion is that instead of it being one solid piece of foam, like the ones we used as kids, it is three or four layers of foam that shift from side to side within the cover. It works fine, but isn't as solid as the ones made from one piece of foam material. I don't think it will hold up as well, but time will tell. Having said that, I think it was a good purchase and would recommend it to those who aren't on the water every week.

The type 4 throwable cushion is manufactured to meet USCG approval. and is required in many states to be carried on board and readily available while the vessel is underway.

This cushion that I ordered measures 14" x 16" It was bent in half and stuffed inside a 121/2" x 121/2" x 121/2" Box, this caused the sheets of material inside the cushion to bend almost in half for the six days it was in route, which I feel could affect the integrity of the flotation device.

I feel very good giving my dog these turkey pumpkin treats. It's all good stuff, nothing bad, not even grain, which is way, WAY over used in dog food, imo, and can lead to health issues. Furthermore, I think all its ingredients are made in the USA, not China, where some really heinous food products are coming from. I can't swear on that though, because, in writing this review, I just noticed that while the turkey in it is US grown, the next ingredient listed chicken doesn't state where it's from. This is making me suspicious. I'm going to check up on this.*

That aside, my dog has a fairly delicate digestive system, and if I stick with these treats, there's never anything to worry about. And he likes them. Really really likes them. Plus I can break a treat in half, and carry it around in my pocket all day. It doesn't stain, it doesn't crumble, it doesn't smell funky.

Reading the less than 5 star comments leaves me thinking I must live in a different dog universe than some people. Judging a treat solely by soft/hard/flakey/not flakey seems so beside the point as to whether or not a dog treat is healthful. But that's just me. I'm giving this product 5 stars, but will revise if I find that the chicken comes from China. That'll be a game changer.

*According to Plato's website, all ingredients in this treat are from North America, including the chicken. I know this review is a bit long winded, but I hope it points up the fact that a bit of sleuthing is always worth the effort when it comes to a pet's quality of life.

Yup, Eos 5 star!

These are first of good quality made in USA and I usually purchase the duck (because my Bichon has digestive issues and the vet said duck is the most easily digestable meat well this time I wanted to see if she would eat turkey w pumpkin since pumpkin is good for dogs digestive system, she likes them but didn't love them like the duck ones Plato sells. The cookies are a good size for her (14lb dog) and the texture is kind of crunchy but soft enough to break in half if you want a smaller treat. I have also tried the salmon ones and they stink like fish so much I had to throw them away because the smell so potent it infused itself to the whole house so to sum up Duck is her favorite then these. But good quality

Most solutions for puppy weaning don't provide a complete diet this does. My puppies GAIN weight while weaning, and the product helps make sure they're taking in enough water at the same time. I dilute more than is on the package at first I think I use about twice as much goats milk as recommended, then cut back over time.

Our Mini Schnauzer, Izzy, has a sensitive tummy, a pleasant way of describing very unpleasant side effects if she eats treats that are to rich. Greenies gave her the runs, bully sticks gave her the runs, pupperoni, rawhide, pig's ears, well, you get the idea. Plus, I wanted to start buying her treats made in the USA, so now I had a double challenge.

I did find her lamb's ears, which are much less greasy and fatty than the pigs and she did fine, but I wanted options. The vet has me giving her a tsp of yogurt a day with her breakfast, a sensitive stomach and skin brand, to help balance out her tummy issues. When I found these belly bone Yogurt dog bones I was really excited. They are made in the US, give her something healthy to chew, and she loves them.

I love them because she can one a day with no side effects. I get to give her a treat, made in the USA, with healthy ProBiotic yogurt powder, and she thinks it's the best treat ever.

*Edited, based on another review I googled, as far as I can tell belly bone is under no recall anywhere. Furthermore, Rosemary extract is common and will be found in most dog foods, from blue and diamond brands on down. Holistic sites seems concerned but there doesn't seem to be concrete medical evidence to back this claim up, but I encourage everyone to research and make up your own mind.

garlicyes, garlic is toxic to dogs, however, again many treats use a small amount of powdered garlic. Again this is not an uncommon ingredient. It threw me off too until I did research and the ASPCA site was the most helpful, talking about how the garlic in dog food and treats is somehow treated plus the amount is so small as to not be toxic in general. Again, do your own research.

I've had tremendous success feeding Izzy this treat. But if you are going to stop using this treat because of the ingredients listed you really need to look at all dog foods and treats, you'll be amazed at how much your dog will not be able to eat.

Our Dog loves them, we found them at TJ Maxx for $5.99 for the 21 count for 4-18lb dogs. So I thought I would look on line for them because he will eat these and not leave them all over the house. I was surprised how much they are on Amazon thought a different vendor for $8.49 plus 6.00 shipping thats a bit much. The Product is great but there is no reason to rip us off. I guess if I don't like it I could buy it somewhere else. I love Amazon when they are selling the product.

Our ShihTzu has had some eating issues since birth and she rarely likes treats; however, I have already purchased several bags of the mini size bones and am awaiting another order for two more now. She gets one treat every evening, and reminds us when it is time for it. She eats the whole bone. The petite size of the minis is perfect for her tiny mouth. So glad to find the little size on line.
