I love these for my dog as they don't have junk fillers, are crunchy for his teeth, and don't stain the carpet, and best of all he loves them and it makes him happy.

My Yorkie is very picky about her treats but she loves these. They keep her busy chewing which is a nice break from the whining! anybody who has ever owned a yorkie knows how much attention they will demand from you.....these treats give her something to do when I need to get things done. Love them!

Gizmo and Nicky love these treats. I called the company with a question about their product and talked to the owner. He was very nice and helpful and sent us some samples of their other products. I would buy these treats again(and their other items).

2 mini-doxies who ate homemade from birth to 2, then went onto 'natural' kibble (Holistic Blendz, Hund n Flocken) and developed urine crystals, then went to a vet kibble that got rid of the crystals but developed another crystal. I needed a solution that wouldn't take all day to prepare, and without grain (dachshunds are better off with potatoes as their starch, no rice or corn). First impressions smells good helped by garlic and oh look! I can actually recognize the bits of potato, broccoli and carrots! add water, so far pretty easy. Add beef? I can't bring myself to do the raw thing, but I get organic ground beef from Costco, poach it, and when it's cooled down I add it to the Europa. Store 3-4 days worth in the frig, and it's done. Doggies used to sniff at the kibble and swallow enough of it to sustain life. Now they can't wait to eat. They're down to healthy weights, which is key for doxie backs, and the vet proclaims the smooth is the "best looking dachshund" he has ever seen. They're running and playing like puppies at the ripe old age of 7. I give them Missing Link Plus supplements, Cosequin DS to keep joints in good shape. I feel like I'm doing a good thing for them, and I want them around me for many more years to come. I can't thank Sojourner Farms enough for understanding the need for grain-free food, let alone the absolute purity of preparation and ingredients. Someone there actually thought about the dog first. I'm sure it takes longer to prep and dehydrate the vegetables than to pulverize and kibble-ize something far less healthy, but Sojos is doing it anyway and I for one am grateful for the product. Costly? I can't even calculate the value when I see the difference it has made in my dogs after just 2 months. They ship it free from the Sojos web site, and so does Amazon. Friends, just do it. You can make it in the time it takes you to cook supper. You'd do it for your kids. And your dogs don't talk back!!

I love this product but the vegetable pieces are a little too big for my dogs to digest.

Every time I get a new bag of Sojos Grain Free (previously "Europa") I grind up the whole bag using my spice grinder. This makes it easier for them to digest and I don't have pieces of bright orange carrot in their poo anymore.

When I grind it up like this it also hydrates much more quickly, which is important. If it's not properly hydrated, the dog can get constipated.

I always feed this with raw meats such as chicken, beef, or lamb. I sometimes add it to cooked fish or scrambled eggs, but I don't do this more than once a week. Also, I add a little bit of organ meat a few times a week. You should use organic liver because this is where the toxins build up.

To make it less expensive, I get chicken necks and trim meat.

I hope this helps!

I have a beautiful 3 year old black and white Cocker Spaniel. During the first several months with her, she demonstrated some puzzling symptoms...jerking and shivering, even in 100 degree summer weather...I took her to the vet. but he could find nothing wrong.....Instinct told me otherwise....So I tried giving her what we give our patients in the ER, when they have ingested something toxic...Activated charcoal....the shivers and jerking stopped.....I suspected immediately that something in the kibble type food I was giving her was toxic to her nervous system.....up to this point she would stare at the Kibble type food and eat only enough to survive.....I began a search for a substitute...thanks to a knowledgable pet store owner who showed me a bag of Sojos Europa...I now have a pet that no longer shivers or shakes, her coat is very healthy.....she has the energy of a puppy, and her breath no longer stinks....I mix Sojos with cooked chicken snapper and salmon, not all at once. She loves it. I'll try some other meats soon.....bottom line is this is really good stuff.....Read the list of ingredients, this stuff smells so good,I have been tempted to taste it myself...but remember tasting lemon soap the Fuller Brush Man brought when I was a kid, but that's another story.

Enjoyed this product for several years. They have however made changes to the recipe...changing the type of calcium added and other ingredients that seem to have changed. Seems like there is more powder added to the vegetables in the Europa. So white with calcium you can't even tell the colors of the vegetables. I have written them to inquire about the ingredient changes but haven't heard anything back yet. My dogs don't care for it much anymore. It always seems that when a company has a good product they eventually change it to cut costs and it goes downhill from there. Hope this isn't the case with SOJOS.

PS. Did hear back from Sojos after resending and asking for a courtesy response. They have changed the formula from calcium carbonate to tri-calcium phosphate with added Vitamin D. For folks with kidney patient dogs..please do your homework about the effects of the tricalcium phosphate (phosphorus)on kidney patients.Sojos makes a good product. I hope they reconsider this recipe change so that it will be safe and healthy for all dogs.

Below is my previous review. The next bag I ordered had a few strange pieces of red plastic stringy stuff. It made me uncomfortable with their quality control and what actually goes in the food. I won't purchase again. The presence of this plastic is utterly unexplainable!

*********************************

I think this is a fabulous product, but I do have an issue with the inconsistent product quality. This last batch was really slimy and some previous batches had a lot of excess green flakes (broccoli?). Most of the dogs that I know of that eat this product at some point stopped eating it (probably sick of it). I would suggest alternating with other types of dog food.

When I first got these, all 4 of my cats FREAKED over them. Now, they don't seem as excited about them but they do eat them. I don't know if I will purchase them again after this bag is gone, I would rather have some treats that help with tarter control.

I originally bought the Zuke's Treats for Cats on Amazon.com. It arrived in a decent amount of time (I didn't expect it to be quick since I used the free shipping). My cat thought they were just okay, and would eat them if i put them in front of her, but not come running as she does for her other treats. So I would leave them out for her in her dish, and they would get hard real quick. After maybe eating 5-20 of the little pieces total, she stopped eating them altogether, and walked AWAY when i got out the treats.

Then I went to Petco after adopting a puppy, and Petco convinced me they would be perfect for training so i got the ones for dogs. I thought maybe the shipping made them stale, and Petco assured me the ones for dogs were of better quality. Unfortunately this was not the case, my dog who eats shoes, and ANYTHING else that's on the floor does not want to eat these. I mean they are okay but barely okay. When I take her on walks and use them to redirect her attention and they are hard by the time we get home from our walk, and she will spit out over half of them on the sidewalk. So if your pet likes hard food then they might like them (and they are real ingredients,) but if your pet is like mine, they wont touch them. I now have two barely opened packages of this stuff that just sits under my cupboard.

My Mommy let me write my own review about Zuke's Natural Purrz. It's absolutely purr-fect! Mommy found Natural Purrz at her local co-op. When I smelled the bag, I got excited! When she popped one into my mouth, I wuz in love!

At the moment, the co-op is out of stock, which is why Mommy checked to see if Amazon had them. She says it's available thru a reseller but the shipping costs are a lot. But she's going to have to do SOMETHING because I miss my Purrz. No cat should be without them!

I have been using this bowl with my Shih Tzu for a few days. I work at a dog food store and have watched a beagle and lab mix use it as well. The other two dogs seem to be able to do the puzzle a bit more easily, as they can get the treat/food out with their tongues. My Shih Tzu doesn't have a long enough nose for that, but can still use her paws to get the food out. I use it for her entire meal and it takes her 5 minutes to get 1/4 cup out.

I'm sure this doesn't happen to every dog but it made my yellow lab choke, gag, and vomit even more than usual. He was just excited and frustrated and it caused him to swallow a lot of air.

Plus the design is a little silly having openings on two ends so it limits where you can put it near a wall or any other obstruction. I should also point out that this thing is huge; easily twice as big as a normal dog bowl.

This has slowed the "Wild One" down tremendously before I got this bowl, he would have inhaled all his food before I could put the other two dogs' dishes down. He's now discovered that you actually "chew" the food and the other two dogs are happy to be able to eat their food without the "Wild One" pacing impatiently for them to finish so he can look for any leftovers.

I have a 5 month old Golden Retriever who inhales his food, and has some digestive problems. I had some success putting his food in a big red Kong, but he would scatter food all over the kitchen, and the cats would inevitably get to some of it. Dog food makes cats smell bad!

Enter the maze--it keeps the puppy busy for a good 10 minutes. The food stays off the floor (mostly) and the maze stays in one place. The puppy LOVES it, and it is easy to wash in the dishwasher.

I was looking for something anything, really that would stop my dog from gulping down her food as if she were trying to inhale it with just one bite. I used to feed her 2 cups of food at each meal, and she'd have it totally gone in 30 seconds (no joke). I spoke to my vet about it and she recommended this bowl but I just wasn't willing to pay the amount of money that my vet wanted for it. When I found it on Amazon for 10 dollars cheaper, I immediately ordered it.

I recieved this bowl today and it took her almost 10 minutes to eat all of her food and it was fantastic! I know she's not a giant breed, but I still worry about bloat due to her fast eating. Now, I don't have to worry about it.

If you have a high energy dog that needs to be busy "working" all the time, the Chuckle is a GREAT toy. This toy is the one toy that my very high-energy Austrailian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) plays with by herself. She works and works to get the treats out. She also has the Busy Buddies Football another good sturdy toy that challenges her to earn her treats.

My ACD uses the Chuckle like a hockey stick to bat her toys and balls around like they are hockey pucks. She uses it as a "pole vault" to raise her front legs off the floor. It occupies her for hours.

The Chuckle and the Football both last for several months which is highly unusual. Most toys I've gotten her last for 5 minutes. The noise maker in the stem of the Chuckle doesn't usually last long but I'm not a fan of the squeaky noise anyway! She continues to play with it without the squeak so that works for both of us.

I highly recommend Busy Buddies toys for agressive chewers and high energy dogs.

I have two dogs--one just over a year, one over 12 years old. My puppy really likes this toy--and she has a lot of experience with "puzzle toys."

But I find that while she will spend a lot of time trying to get stuff out (I usually put some of her normal kibble in), she never can. And so what happens is, stuff gets really cruddy and gross and rotten inside the ends if you don't find a way to get the stuff out. And there is no easy way to get stuff out--that's the point, right?

My best find has been to get a chopstick or something and stick through the hole on the sides of each end and twirl it around to push stuff out. Running water in and doing this seems to help as well. It's a very imperfect science, and it takes a while. But I did manage to get everything out as far as I can tell.

Another plus is that, she will definitely not destroy it by chewing it--it's very solid. She's a medium sized puppy with a pretty persistent approach to most chewy things, and I am 100% certain, she won't ever chew this thing. She seems more interested in getting stuff out than chewing the actually toy.

I have a Portuguese Water Dog, Bella, who is on a continuous mission to destroy (usually successfully) and digest (usually not, which results in cramps and a mess) every "tough" dog toy ever made. About a year ago, I got lucky and discovered the Chuckle. This toy is still intact after daily chewing. It functions very well as an interactive treat dispenser. That did require a small adjustment. When I realized that the Chuckle was reluctant to dispense even the smallest treats, I took a pair of scizzors and trimmed the tips off the rubber prongs that hold treats inside the Chuckle. Try it--keep removing bits of rubber from the prong tips until the treats can pop out when your dog plays with the toy. (Don't take off too much or the Chuckle will spew all the treats at once instead of dispensing them individually.) I left one end of the Chuckle unaltered so that it can hold back a few treats and maintain my dog's interest over a longer period of time. (Avoid putting moist treats inside the Chuckle, unless you enjoy washing dog toys.)

The Chuckle survived an inadvertent dip in my pool--no, Chuckle's don't float. Afterward, the toy's "chuckle" sound mutated into a Gollum-like evil snicker, which I found hysterically funny. That didn't last. Once the water evaporated from the Chuckle's voice box, the old familiar "chuckle" returned. The Chuckle sound is neither loud nor obnoxious. I like it. I can get my dog's attention, no matter how distracted she might be, if I give the Chuckle a good shaking. Besides using the Chuckle for play, I load it with small treats before I leave for work, toss it to my very appreciative dog and drive away, knowing that my dog will be busy for a while and less likely to mind my departure.

The Chuckle is my dog's favorite toy, and mine as well. I'm going to order another!

The little noisemaker in the center bar makes a clicking sound when the toy is moved in a certain direction. I have a Dal. I have had Dals since I was a kid and I am now approaching 70. I am retired now so I get to have more time and fun with my Dal. I also have 2 other dogs, a Chihuahua and a Corgi mix. I love them all, but Dals are different, not smarter, not better, just different. My Dal gets the treats out of the Chuckle and shares them with the two little dogs. He is very sweet, but in human terms, not the sharpest knife in the drawer. So after all the treat pieces are out of the chuckle, my Dal hears the noisemaker moving about and I guess, assumes it is a piece of a treat still in one side of the dumbell. He used to have a Waggle, and when there was just one piece of something left inside that he could not get out he would bring the waggle to me and literally throw it at me until I got the last piece out for him. Well, this thing moving around in the Chuckle drives him nuts. After he has emptied it he stills hears something moving inside it so he throws it at me. I try to explain that there is actually nothing edible in the thing and give it back to him, but to no avail. He takes it, makes a circle of the house, comes back and throws it at me again. This will only end when I hide the thing until the next morning. (The treat bone is a once a day routine, done only in the morning, about an hour after breakfast.) This is why I give it 5 stars. I gotta love any toy that brings a bit more fun and joy to a dogs life.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, this toy, like the Waggle seems to be a durable, quality product. The Waggle lasted almost 2 years of daily use until it eventually got demolished. My Dals have never been fond of keeping toys. They would much rather see what they are made of. Most toys last an average of 30 mimnutes, 15 if there is a squeaker involved. Funny thing is he does not destroy the little dogs toys, only his own. Anyway, I think the Chuckle might meet or even exceed the 2 year survivability limit of Dal toys actually in daily use.

I bought this toy for my lab who constantly needs to be entertained. He picked up on the concept of the toy immediately. I even Trained him to find and bring his "treat" toy.

Unfortunately, the treats would not come out no matter how hard the toy was dropped on the floor. I tried every size treat. Grant it, a pea size morsely of a treat works, but it comes out too fast defeating the purpose of the toy. Recommend the inventor go back and revisit the treat dispensing mechinism.

If your dog is a power chewer, these are pointless. They will chew through them in less than a day. That being said... my dog goes nuts for these; they are nice since these can be digested easier than rawhides. The cost to enjoyment ratio is too low for me to purchase more other than the occasional treat. I have had to move on to antlers.

I spent a great deal of time researching premium dog foods on the internet and at my local Natural Pet Foods store when I finally came to realize what a subpar product that Science Diet has been producing and calling themsleves a "premium" product. Once I learned what constitutes a quality kibble, i.e. meat and meat based products, no corn fillers, chelated minerals, all natural products I could go on and on. Based on the quality of ingredients, the high ratings given by a number of respected dog food reviews and forums, and its price point, I decided to give Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover's Soul a try. I did a slow changeover with my 7 year old chocolate lab in order to use up the balance of the old food. After now several months on the new Chicken Soup food, I feel comfortable in stating that this is probably the best dog food kibble you can buy for the money. My lab loves it her poops are firm and effortless her coat has a sheen and luster that we never saw with the Science Diet her minor dandruff problem has disappeared she doesn't scratch or itch at all and she looks forward to her mealtimes. Yes, there are higher quality kibbles available, but at his price point and with this list of quality ingredients, you can feel comfortable that you are feeding your dog a premium quality dog food without breaking your budget. Highly recommended!

We all know we can't afford Innova or Orijen, which is one of the best foods you can possibly feed your dog. A lot of people buy Iams, myself included, for our dogs. Then there are the people who continue to buy Beneful and Old Roy and Pedigree and don't realize that you are basically buying corn, which your dog cannot digest and will essentially poop out! So you are just throwing your money into fertilizing your yard! LOL Dogfoodanalysis.com has a great rating system and reviews all dog foods and rates them with stars. 6 being the highest. To put this into perspective, Iams is a 1 star dog food, based off of its ingredients. This food, Chicken soup for the Soul is a 4 star food. Blue Buffalo is also a 4 star food, but costs twice as much! Iams sells at Walmart for $17.88 for an 18 pound bag so .99 a pound. I would typically feed my dog 2 1/2 cups of Iams. This food, as of the time of this review is $39.99 for 35 pounds,so $1.14 a pound. And I would only give my dog 2 cups. Think about it, if you ate fillers all day long and food with very little nutritional value, you are going to eat more. But if you ate food with more substance, that was healthier, you would actually eat less. This is the same for dogs. So many people run out and buy Kibble and Bits because you can get a huge bag for $10, but you end up feeding your dog 3-4 cups and blow through the bag in a matter of days. They don't realize that if they buy a better quality food, you actually feed your dog less. Not to mention they would be on a healhier diet.

I think for the money and the quality this is an excellent dog food choice. It's middle of the road, not insanely expensive, but not super cheap. And the quality is far above par in my book.

I have been researching and studying canine nutrition since about 1988. Ironically, my interest sprang from a program that Hill's (makers of Science Diet) used to offer called the Small Animal Dietician program. I completed all levels that they offered and learned quite a bit about food, most especially, NOT to feed Science Diet, lol.

That being said, I have been showing and breeding dogs for over 20 years. I have tried virtually every high end food on the market: Core, EVO, The Honest Kitchen, Before Grain, Prairie, Orijen, Blue Buffalo, Canidae, California Natural....I could go on. The *extremely* high protein content in some of those foods can be quite dangerous, especially for puppies. I just had to euthanize my 3 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier in December due to kidney failure, and I am certain it was brought on by being on Before Grain, Orijen & EVO as a puppy.

Chicken Soup is a fantastic food and a great value. I am currently feeding it to my Bullmastiff and 2 Chihuahuas, one of whom is almost 16 years old. It is my exclusive food now and as long as they don't change the formula, I see no reason to switch to another food again. The price for the quality of food in unbeatable. I'm very happy to see it offered on Amazon now with free shipping! Makes things even better!

I started buying this brand of food when my dog had a litter of puppies (I bought the puppy-lover's bag). I loved that it has wholesome ingredients, and that "meat" is the first ingredient on the list. Look through the bags of dog foods at your grocer and you'll see that meat isn't first or second, and then when you find it you'll find it only contains "meat by-products." My pets have had a healthy coat & firm stools eating this brand of dog food, and you can't beat the price. The added chelated minerals and natural preservatives create a holistic pet food. I will continue to feed this to my dogs and recommend it to my friends as well.

To initially sum this review up: I am so glad I bought this food for my dog. This is an excellent quality dog food and is a great value. Not only does my dog absolutely love it, but it has had many noticeable benefits to his health.

I have an 18 month old chocolate lab, and unlike every other Labrador Retriever, he does not eat anything and everything. He is very picky about his kibble. For months, I was buying every kind of dog food, and never found a single brand that he was excited to eat. Normally, he would sniff the food, walk away, and return minutes later only because he was starving. For the past month, I had settled on Beneful, because he seemed to enjoy it more than any other food. Granted, he obviously wasn't ecstatic about it, but he usually finished it all. However, I eventually realized that I had to focus more on what he enjoyed. First off, he has several problems with his stomach. His stomach growls constantly, he belches, and he's occasionally gassy. He also throws up often and worst of all, he has trouble using the bathroom. He often appeared either constipated or his stool was very soft. Very worried, I made an appointed for a vet visit. My veterinarian instructed me to stop feeding him supermarket dog foods because they were all, for the most part, of terrible quality and not helping my dog at all. He told me all about reading ingredient labels on dog food, what to look for and what to avoid and went on to say that if I wanted to help ease my dog's discomfort, my only option was to buy a high quality dog food. I was reluctant because I knew that along with high quality comes a high priceexcept in this case, that is.

I searched Amazon and found Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. A 35 pound bag was only $40, and I had been paying $16.99 for a 15 pound bag of that Beneful crap. So obviously the price was great. Furthermore, it appeared to be a high quality food--no bad fillers and REAL MEAT as the primary ingredients, and the reviews were all positive. So I bought it, and I will never buy anything else.

The first day I fed my dog Chicken Soup, he practically inhaled it. He LOVED it, which lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. He is actually excited about eating kibble now, doesn't hesitate to eat, and can't get enough of Chicken Soup. But the best benefit: he is so much healthier. His stomach problems seemed to have ceased altogether. I have not seen him throw up once, and when he has to use the bathroom, he is not constipated, nor are his stools runny or soft. He is able to go effortlessly and best of all, he doesn't go as often. He is not gassy and I never hear his stomach rolling. Moreover, his coat looks shinier and his bark sounds healthier. And did I mention: NO MORE STOMACH PROBLEMS!

I returned to my veterinarian, and though he had never heard of Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, I brought him the ingredients label and he said it appeared to be a kibble of great quality. But the best evidence I had to show him: my dog. He is a thousand times more healthy, and my vet (as well as myself) was so pleased to see the turnaround.

My dog had a good result with this food, but it wasn't what I expected. My veterinarian wanted my dog to lose weight because my dog had no indentation at his waist or under his belly. I tried Blue Buffalo Longevity Dry Food for Adult Dogs, 24-Pound Bag, but his physique never improved and his weight never went down. For both weight-loss foods, I used a calorie-determination formula instead of the feeding guides. For both foods, the feeding guides on the bags recommended a lot more food than the formula (see formula at end of review.)

Many dogs will not drink enough to process a very high protein dog food like Premium Edge (49% protein) even when fresh water is offerred. I suspect dogs may limit their drinking to accommodate a potty schedule. At my dog's 2 daily feedings, I add enough warm water to just cover his kibble. (When I first added the water, my dog had accidents because I feed him after his morning exercise walk. I had to change his feeding to 30 minutes before his walk.) I let the food it soak on the counter for 2 minutes, and then I stir in 2 heaping table-spoons of low-sodium canned green beans (10 cals.) My dog eats the food with gusto and seems to feel full after he eats. He begs less and is happy with small treats. On the other weight-loss food, he was acting full at first but, after a few weeks, he began begging for food right after he ate, even with the water and green beans.

I also should say that I walked my dog about a mile per day on both weight-loss foods.

When the vet saw my dog 6 weeks after switching to Premium Edge, I though he was going to tell me to go back to my dog's old food because, on my scale at home, he gained 3 pounds. I was so frustrated. To my surprise, the vet told me that my dog was in excellent condition. The weight gain was due to higher muscle mass! His waist and belly were not flabby at all anymore. I guess the high-protein levels in this food are giving my dog what he needs to grow muscle, and the increase in muscle mass enables him to burn the fat more efficiently. He may have been so hungry on the other food because he needed more protein. I am so happy with the results that I am continuing to feed my dog the same food at the same amount indefinitely. He is still very satisfied with his food.

If you are not willing to exerise your dog every day, I don't know if you will get this result, but I think it is a fabulous food if you are committed to walking your dog a long way each day, rain or shine. It is an economical yet high-quality food.

At 49%, this is the highest-protein in a dry dog food I have ever seen. Not even Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain Free Dry Dog Food, Salmon Recipe, 24-Pound Bag, which is grain-free, comes close to this food in protein. To get this much protein, I ordinarily would have to feed wet food. There was no way I could afford wet food for my dog--it would cost $120 per month to feed my dog a quality, high-protein wet food. For a low-quality (and lower protein) wet food, it would cost $45/month, whereas Premium Edge dry food costs me about $25/month.

In addition, this food is high in fibre, grain-free, low fat, and contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, probiotics, and chelated minerals (which are more bio-available than minerals that are not "chelated" to protein.) At 347 calories per cup, it is it is as low in calories as Blue Buffalo Longevity Dry Food for Adult Dogs, 24-Pound Bag, but Premium Edge has more than twice the protein and no calories from grains.

As with every dog food label I have ever read, the feeding guide on Premium Edge over-feeds the dog. If I followed the instructions on the Premium Edge bag, I would be feeding 2 1/4 cups per day. According to Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition, the calories a dog should consume to lose weight is computed as follows: (1)Determine your dog's "ideal" weight with your vet or by looking up your dog's breed (or predominant breed) with the AKC. If your dog ever appeared to be a healthy weight, you can use that past weight as an ideal weight. Convert his ideal weight in pounds to kilograms by dividing the pounds by 2.2. For my dog, 44 lbs over 2.2= 20 (2) Multiply her weight in KG by 30. For my dog 20*30 is 600. (3)Add 70. In my dog's case, 600+70=670 calories per day. This food is 347 calories per cup, so 670/347 = 1.93 cups per day is the most my dog should be fed. The Premium Edge feeding guide recommends 2 1/4 cups per day, which is 781 calories. A small difference in serving size makes a difference of over 100 calories. Ironically, my dog is well-above his 44 lb "ideal" weight, but he is at a new "ideal" weight with heavy muscle mass.

I was looking for a high quality dog food which is affordable for my two dogs. I liked the ingredient list as well as the nutrient content on this brand. I haven't really heard of the brand before but did a search on it and found some favorable reviews. My dogs really love it and it seems like the amount listed on the package to feed (based on weight) seems to satisfy them. They are not extremely active so I have to watch their weight. Also there seems to be not a lot of waste (yard clean-up) associated with the food which tells me it doesn't have tons of fillers. Overall I think this is a quality food and a great buy.

My dogs really seem to love this stuff, but we're still transitioning from a combination of Blue Buffalo Weigth Control and Purina Beyond. Not sure if they "love" it just because they're on diets and want more food or if they really enjoy the flavor :) I switched to this after reading several reviews, including the dogfoodadvisor.com 5 star rating. We needed a food that had fewer calories per cup so that we could try to give the dogs a little more quantity without increasing the total caloric intake. I was ready to stick with the Blue Buffalo Weight Control, but decided to go with this instead. No problems with the Blue Buffalo, they really seemed to like that too, just needed lower caloric density to help us achieve our weigh goals for the dogs. Each time I up the ratio of Premium Edge to the Blue Buffalo/Purina Beyond mix, their stool gets a little mushy but this is to be expected as you're adjusting your dogs diet. I expect it will be a full month before I've fully transitioned them to Premium Edge. I tried to find this at a local pet store and the best I could do was an offer to special order it for me. Being able to buy this on amazon and have it delivered straight to the house is really convenient.

Update 5/13/2013: We're still using Premium Edge Healthy Weight I with our dogs. They dropped the weight they needed to and are nice and fit (they do get a lot of walking each day too). We've stayed with Healthy Weight I instead of changing to something else because of the high protein to carb ratio. We increased the amount they're fed slightly each day and also augment with no added salt canned green beans. They do just fine on this food (two Pembroke Corgis currently aged 4 and 6).

I searched online for 5 Star dog foods for my overweight lab who was beginning to have hip problems at only 4 years old. Vet said the weight must come off and for me to give him l/2 cup of food twice a day. That seemed just so little for such a huge dog (over l00 lbs) so I knew I had to have something with as much nutrition as possible. Ordered this and switched him gradually over to it. I use l/2 cup of this food and l/2 cup of no salt green beans so that it seems like he is getting more and it adds a little good carbohydrate. After l0 days he has stopped having so much trouble getting up, he looks slimmer already and he seems to feel better, has more energy. He still needs to lose a lot of weight but with this food I believe it can be done and I don't feel like I'm starving him as it is such good quality dog food. Well worth the price. ADDENDUM After a month on this food my lab's neck has reduced in size to the point where I could put a smaller collar on him and his body looks much trimmer. He used to have a huge double chin and that is gone. He is more agile and seems to feel a lot better than when he was so heavy. Cleaning up the yard is much easier now as his b.m.s are so much smaller. l0 MONTHS LATER: I had to switch him to yet a smaller collar two months ago. I can't believe how lean and muscular he is now and has been for a few months. The best I can figure, it took about 6 months for him to shed the weight and I was firm about what I would give him. I am now giving him l cup twice a day with the green beans and he stays very trim but he also has a lot more energy and is running, chasing frisbees so is using up the extra calories. I confess to giving him a bit of pizza once in a while.

My dachshund was at least 5-6 pounds overweight when we started him on this feed. He gained the extra weight gradually after he slipped a disc in his back (as this breed very commonly does) while jumping off the couch. Extra weight is dangerous for any dog, but especially so for dogs with long backs and even more so for those with previous injuries. Needless to say, he couldn't run very far or for very long without his back hurting, which was complicated by the extra weight, so it would have to be mostly diet that brought his weight down. So, with all that in mind, I clearly had to choose his food carefully. I relied heavily on the advise of (awesome website) and I could not be more pleased with the feed I chose: Premium Edge Healthy Weight. He has lost 5 pounds since November (5 months) and is continuing steadily with controlled caloric intake based on his daily activity. I highly recommend this feed for this particularly vicious combination of permanently limited activity and necessary weight loss. I also recommend the website I mentioned above that helped me choose it, as they are very easy to navigate as well as being highly informative. Now that he has lost most of the extra pounds, I can tell that his back is much healthier than when he had to carry all that excess weight around. He plays longer and runs farther and is just a happier dog all arounda very good thing.

After 10 years with a pair of dogs who beg daily for dog treats, but having them become overweight on cookie type (wheat based) dog biscuits, I decided to look for alternative treats, since wheat is such a common source of allergies & hormone disruptors in dogs. I also had one dog die of liver disease, and from my research I discovered that a high-grain diet is the highly suspected culprit. Since I feed my dogs 'raw', I knew the only source of grain they really got was the dog biscuits, so I then switched to Costco-brand chicken jerky strips, but when my one dog soon became lethargic and not like his usual self, I took him to the vet for a blood draw, and found his liver enzymes were sky high! After a month of serious perplexion, I was brought to wonder if now the chicken jerky strips were the culprit, and sure enough, there were DOZENS of postings on Google about those chicken jerky-type treats (from China) being discovered to have melamine coating, and causing fatalities and grave liver illnesses in dogs! So again I searched around trying different healthier treats (but now only ones "Made in the USA"). I now use these Duck treats exclusively and feel very good about them; they are meat-based and tasty, yet formed like a small crunchy biscuit. I buy the multiple packs off Amazon because the pricing works out alot better as my 2 dogs go through them so quickly. They are really worth it though for the much healthier alternative! I am grateful to Plato for making them (in the USA!)I'm now on my 2nd pr of dogs and this is still the product I buy.

This product is the only product i will give to my dogs. I have 3 golden retrievers, I like this product because it is all natural, most important it is made in the USA. The two flavors I use are the duck strips, and chicken and vegetables.

My white Boxer has severe food allergies. I tried almost every treat on the market. I came across these as she can only eat duck. She loves them and has no digestive problems after eating these. Great product and made in the USA. I only buy USA food products for my dog.

Our trainers highly suggested Plato Treats to use in class since they are healthy, stinky treats that dogs love. It is difficult to find these treats in local stores and the price is at least a couple dollars more (per pack). We love the fact that the treats can easily be broken down into smaller pieces suitable for training. It's amazing how attentive dogs are for stinky treats!

I did not buy this toy even though I think it looks great because I couldn't find out whether it was made in the USA. My dog loves these knotted rope type of toys and as she unwinds the rope I cut that part of so they end up lasting a long time. But I won't buy any toys that are not made in the USA anymore.

Our dog LOVES the way this toy bounces in an unpredictable way. I like that it smells a bit minty. We put treats in it that are an odd shape / large enough not to bounce out right away, and he will work way harder for the treat inside the toy -loves a puzzle and a challenge -than he will for the treat alone. Our dog is a coonhound, smart and stubborn, but not an insane chewer who tries to destroy for the sake of destroying.

This was given to us as a gift. What a weird toy...I mean, it makes sense when a dog toy is in the shape of a bone, or a rope, or a ball even,....but an eggplant? But we gave it a try anyway.

OMG she loves this toy! The minty feature loses its bit very shortly after playing with it for maybe 10 hours? But she gets a lot of use out of this one. The green top did eventually pop off, but it doesn't stop the toy from being playable. I never put any treats in this one and she still finds it fun. Also, I LOVE how it's rubber and an odd shape. We use it as a ball sometimes, but since it's eggplant shaped, the bounces are always sporadic. It drives our westie nuts!

The Orbee Eggplant only lasted about ten to fifteen minutes with my dogs before they had the green part pulled out and they top chewed off. There wasn't even a treat in there. I do not recommend this for hard chewers.

About the negative comment I can make about these treats is that they are not easy to find on store shelves. A container of the treats weighs 22 ounces so shipping costs will be on the high end.

The treats themselves are fabulous. The four and a quarter inch strips are thick enough to be chewy, yet soft enough for our poor Piper who has five extracted teeth. I like that the first ingredient is chicken and missing from the treats are artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Cranberries are seventh on the ingredient list, but too high a cranberry content might make the treats unpalatable for pooches.

I highly recommend these all natural treats, the Rolls Royce of dog treats.
