Although on this website it states that these are made for small dog breeds, that is not right. These are made for large dogs with large mouths. Much too large for my 9 pound Pomeranian and made my dog, who was so excited to get one, bleed on it as she tried to bite it. Will take to the SPCA.

We have a nearly 9 year old Malamute. He has a fabulous coat of hair but was starting to get chronic skin problems. The salmon oil cured him. The results were quick (within a month). The only "special" advice I would offer is KEEP IT REFRIGERATED. Our malamute is obsessively food-centric... he will eat almost anything; but when the last of the large bottle I was storing at room temperature (mid sixties) went rancid he refused his kibble. I made the mistake of buying 4 large bottles all at once. I suggest you get them one at a time and keep it refrigerated (even though it says you can keep it at room temperature).

Thank you for your inquiry. Our oil is regularly tested for mercury, PCB's and other toxins. All levels are below the method detection limit, meaning that the levels are so low that they cannot be detected. Because our oil is from all wild Alaskan salmon it is inherently free of the toxins that you are more likely to find in farmed fish and farmed fish products. Please contact us with any additional questions at info@grizzlypetproducts.com

Grizzly Salmon is a decent salmon oil supplement but we found that the Alaskan Bear Treats was a better quality of oil in color, smell, and freshness. Just our opinion and we found the Grizzly brand to be a bit too strong in smell and lingered way too long on our 100+lb dogs. If you're using a salmon oil to supplement then you likely can't go wrong with regard to the benefits as long as it's wild (not farm raised) and of a good manufacturing quality. Both Grizzly and Alaskan Bear Treats brands are good but we liked the ALASKAN BEAR TREATS better for the aforementioned reasons.

Edit: Thanks to the previous "commenter" for pointing out the minor error: we switched FROM Grizzly and BEGAN USING Alaskan Bear Treats and haven't looked back for all the reasons above. Also, it would be good to convey to consumers that a true "Wild Alaskan Salmon" source is better/safer than any other fish source for omega-3 fish oils (human supplements, too however, this product review is solely for canine consumption). The wild Alaskan salmon have certifiably lower heavy metal and toxin content than any other ocean fish. Alaskan Bear Treats (none-the-less sourced from a large Alaskan seafood purveyor) has that covered so we're very satisfied with the quality of the Alaskan Bear Treats supplement. Grizzly isn't bad (still true wild Alaskan salmon source, I believe) but we simply liked the quality of Alaskan Bear Treats much more.

I have used several commercially prepared products over the past twenty years. Grizzly Salmon oil seems to be providing the nutrients necessary for good coats on my dogs, and I have been putting two squirts into the dogs' food daily for about six months. I have three Labrador retrievers, and all are sporting their best coats. I have used Lipiderm in the past, which also works very well. I believe that quite a few of the products marketed for improving good skin and coats are effective, and occasionally try out a new one. I don't believe the advertisements, but prefer to read labels, look for key ingredients, and try for myself.

More than likely this will improve your dog's coat and improve it fast. In my experience high quality salmon oil (meaning it is wild caught, NOT farm raised which can have mercury in it) is the fastest working, most effective supplement to make your dog's skin and coat healthier with a show ring luster (It does it by helping the body produce more natural oil. A lack of oil leaves fur dry, dull, and brittle and a lack of Omega 3 Fatty Acids (which this is crammed with) can make the skin irritated because it doesn't have enough omega 3 to properly care for itself.)

To give you an idea how fast this works. I had a dog with severly dry skin and a dry coat (so bad it made me itch if it rubbed against my skin) that showed improvement in just a week or two and he's been getting better ever since. I had another dog whose coat was slightly dry and this got it into good condition in about two weeks.

Now when I brush my dog's they have oil in their coat for the brush to spread around and make it shiny and the skin is supple. However, you must brush your dog's coat once or twice a week because now that the coat is producing normal amounts of oil you need to make sure it spreads over the entire shaft of the hair (which brushing does) or it will start to feel gunky whereas if the oil is spread around the dog will just feel very nice.

As another bonus, whenever you bathe and shampoo your dog (which washes the oil out), the time it takes for the oil to replinish itself in the fur will be much shorter!

First let me say that when we last purchased these in November 2012 I would have given them 5 stars. Our dogs love them and they were a good value.

They were $14.89 for 37 oz... now they are $29.00 ...just too much $ way too much

We are very careful with the treats we buy as we almost lost a dog from bad chicken treats from China.

I am giving tese 3 stars because our dog still likes them but it is cheaper to just buy chicken and boil it rather than pay $29.00 for 2 lbs of chickrn.

Originally purchased at Sam's for a much lower price than what I have paid over the internet. However, this is Sam's failing to me. You better buy when they have it because there is very little chance they will continue to carry a particular product. That being said, my dog absolutely loves these treats. She has never refused them, and I think she would eat the whole container if given the opportunity. I like the large plastic container, and the bones stay soft until they are gone. She still gets the hard Milkbone treats to help her teeth, but these are a nice special treat. Worth the higher cost.

I have 5 abandoned baby kittens. My neighbor feeds stray cats who reproduce, but they give birth under my shed. There was a batch a few months ago that I returned to my neighbor. The mother refused to touch them, even though we did not physically touch them with our skin. According to him, they `starved to death over several days' and he did not lift a finger to save them. Then a new batch was left under my shed, howling for food. This time, we had to take them in.

We put them on PetAG KMR and they were doing ok as a group. But then, I lost my job, and PetCo was charging 25 dollars a can for this stuff. I found Hartz KMR at Walmart for 10 and thought, "Hey! Save money!". I fed 1.5 cans to these kittens. Within a week, my favorite one, Jesse, started acting like she had suffered a stroke. She would sit dormant for minutes, staring into space, then jumping off into a random direction, crashing into whatever. I fed her a bit of sugar water, as advised by the Internet (her symptoms almost matched hypoglycemia), and then a touch of canned food. She recovered. The next day, she ate nearly half a bottle of Hartz KMR. An hour or so later, she consumed nearly another quarter of a bottle. (Small kitten milk bottles).

By 5 PM that afternoon, she was a wreck. She howled in pain. Her stomach was bloated. She would lurch from absolute zombie-ness to jerking, panicked movements. I could not help her. I started researching her state. I could find no disease or condition that matched this. Not `kitty stroke' or `epilepsy' or 'diabetes'.....nothing matched. Then I thought about the food change and I started investigating. Everything I found by Googling "Hartz KMR" DID match. We were convinced we found the issue.

The next day, we went immediately to PetCO and got PetAG's KMR Step 2 (they're old enough for it now) and came home and fed them. The change was almost instant. They now bound about the floor, battling and playing. Alert and attentive. Jesse is a normal kitten again. I am CONVINCED Hartz was the culprit.

PLEASE! If you are ever in the position to have to nurse kittens yourself, do NOT use Hartz. It is a crap product that causes horrible constipation, stomach buildup and what I am convinced is eventual brain death in a kitten. PLEASE DO NOT USE HARTZ KMR. PetAG is much better because it is milk based. Even Similac is better than Hartz KMR. But I wanted to share my tale because this site helped me to diagnose what was wrong with Jesse and there was really nothing wrong with her except the poision I was unintentionally feeding her.

I have no relationship with PetAG, they are just the only KMR alternative I have ever found. If you do find a KMR, please make sure it is milk based and not whey based, or the kitten will not be able to pass stool. THAT is my point. It will become bloated and pained and completely freak out. Jesse is quite content now and the other 4 are doing just fine as well. Hartz KMR is poison to some kittens. Thank you for your attention.

What do you do when suddenly you have 5 orphan kittens just 5 days old? If you have Hartz Precision Milk Replacer and a pet nursing bottle then you are home free. I find no fault with the product other than I preferred to dilute the mixture a little more than recommended. Of the 5, I took the two that were not thriving, my daughter kept the other 3. Between the 2 of us we now have 5 healthy kittens added to our households. I recommend Hartz because I also successfully raised orphaned squirrels using the milk replacer.

We've recently acquired 4 orphan kittens. They weren't doing great when we got them, but they perked up quickly and became active healthy baby cats. I was feeding them Whiskas KMR which I DO recommend. When we ran out we picked up some Hartz dry KMR, and it took almost losing 3 kittens to realize what it was that was killing them. They became unexplainably lethargic, clumsy, vomiting, constipated then almost comatose staring into space with eyes that didnt' respond to light, limp and almost lifeless. I noticed right away how the Hartz didn't mix well as a baby formula should, it stayed separated no matter how we attempted to blend it. Also it seemed thin and watery, unlike the Whiskas. They didn't enjoy eating it, but we thought it was a taste difference. After researching everything from hypothermia to kitten diseases, I could find nothing that would explain this... then we looked up the Hartz KMR. Owner after owner posts of losing their babies. They post of vet visits and having to put kittens down that were bouncing healthy babies just days before. DO NOT buy this product. It can take their lives overnight.

What we did to save our kittens who were 4-5 weeks old (we weren't positive how old they were when we found them) after they were in this comatose state was go back to the Whiskas, pretty much force bottle fed them, warmed them with a stimulating bath followed by a gentle and warm blowdry, all the while constantly petting, stimulating, letting them know we weren't giving up on them. Warming, petting, holding, and one or twice an hour trying to get them to eat the good milk. Slowly, they've all come around, but still the same day they became ill. We were lucky, with two people working on them around the clock... if we'd had to leave them for 8 hours, they would not have made it. DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR KITTEN!

Check the ingredients.. Hartz and Whiskas are light years apart. You want your first ingredient to be MILK... not animal fat, vegetable fat and dried whey protein. I wish I'd checked. I just assumed products made and marketed for infant creatures would be safe and healthy for them. How wrong I was. DO NOT BUY THIS POISON. For the same price you can give them Whiskas, and go through none of this. Terrible company.. monstrous product. 80 almost dead kitten claws WAY DOWN. :(

I've always used KMR with orphan kittens, and never had a problem with kitten constipation or slow/difficult urination UNTIL I began using Hartz Powdered Milk Replacer for Kittens. SPEND the extra money for KMR to SAVE your kitten's life! A side note: KMR is made in America! P.S. As compared with AG Pet or Four Paws nurser bottles, the Hartz nurser bottles are crap, too. Walmart...take Hartz off your shelves!

Want Hartz Precision Nutrition Powdered Milk Replacer for Kittens Discount?

Please, please, PLEASE do not ignore these reviews. If you buy this Hartz product, you are playing Russian roulette with your kitten's life. It seems that many kittens cannot digest this crap. My poor baby kitten, which I had been feeding for four days, died because of this stuff. I am almost sure of it. Call it a "mother's intuition". When we started feeding her this, she would have the same indications other kittens who died on this stuff had--going into trances, paralyzation, pain, vomiting, greasy poo, bad gas, confusion, lethargy . . . . and she got like this every time we fed her! I was so harried to get nutrition into her that I didn't suspect the food until it was too late. She wasn't able to digest it right, so she wasn't getting the nutrition she needed. She became too weak and was in too much pain. My last memories of her was of her extremely disoriented, trying to go off and hide. She just wandered around aimlessly, very uncomfortable, going into trances and passing out over and over again. I ended up putting her in a box with blankets and she just put her head in the corner while still standing. Then she started intermittently meowing loudly and her tail was twitching oddly. After that, she became unresponsive. She was letting out bad gas (again). I took her to the vet and they put her in an incubator with oxygen (for the second day), and she looked like she wasn't even there anymore. I had been watching her dying all along, and I had to put her to sleep.

I am inconsolable about her death, and I don't want any other owner or kitten to go through this again. Look into other alternatives, like PetAg's KMR. There are others as well, but I have read that KMR is the best. I only got this crap because it was the only thing available at Wal-Mart, which was where I happened to be at the time. I wonder how different things would be now if I had gone instead to Petco . . . . She's now buried in my backyard and she will live on in my memories.

NaturVet Digestive Enzymes with Prebiotics & Probiotics is a wonderful product that I regularly give to my four dogs (2 Dachshunds, a Chihuahua and a French Bulldog). I feel that it plays a very important role in their having a healthy digestive tract, and especially my longhaired Dachshund who was prone to stomach upset and loose stools. We tried gradually changing her to different dog food brands to no avail. The problem was only remedied when we started her on NaturVet Digestive Enzymes with Prebiotics & Probiotics. If you have a dog with a sensitive stomach and/or loose stools you definitely should give this a try. It works wonders!

I like that NaturVet Digestive Enzymes with Prebiotics & Probiotics:

1) Aids in digestion of food and absorption of nutrients.

2) Makes my dogs stool firm.

3) Decreases their gassiness (which is a big deal for our bulldog).

4) Strengthens their immune system, and slows the growth of disease-causing bacteria.

5) Contains prebiotics to feed the probiotics (good bacteria) supercharging them.

6) And I like knowing that it is made in the USA.

It can be sprinkled on a small amount of dry or wet food (to make sure all of it is eaten), stirred in, and is readily consumed by all four of my dogs. If you are feeding dry food, add a small amount of room temperature bottled spring water to it before sprinkling the product on (chlorinated tap water will kill the probiotics). I find that it sticks to moistened dry food and is better consumed that way. After they have eaten the small portion of food containing the NaturVet enzymes/probiotics you can give them the rest of their food.

HOW IT WORKS:

Your pet's digestive tract normally contains billions of bacteria and micro-organisms that assist with digestion. It requires a healthy balance of friendly and unfriendly bacteria. Poor diet, antibiotics, prolonged illness and aging can deplete the beneficial bacteria faster than they can be replenished. An incorrect balance of unhealthy bacteria over desirable bacteria is associated with poor digestion, inadequate Vitamin B12 absorption, systemic yeast infections and autoimmune diseases.

Your pet may also be deficient in digestive enzymes because the organs that make them produce less and less as your pet ages and also because most of the enzymes normally found in foods are lost when the foods are cooked and processed. Enzyme deficiencies cause gas, constipation, diarrhea, skin rashes, bloating, gastric upset and lowered immune function.

The prebiotics in NaturVet Digestive Enzymes with Prebiotics & Probiotics feed the probiotics (good bacteria) supercharging them so that they can restore the proper bacterial balance and fight the growth of disease-causing bacteria and yeast. And the enzymes help break down food so that it can be easily absorbed by the body ensuring your dog or cat is getting the nutrients they need.

PLEASE NOTE that if, when your pet begins taking probiotics, they initially experience gas or diarrhea these can actually be signs that the probiotics are working and that harmful bacteria and yeast are dying and being eliminated from your pet's body along with other wastes and toxins. This process usually lasts around three days, but can last longer.

My senior cat started having bouts of severe constipation followed by diarrhea. She seemed in pain with every such episode and she would get so scared that she would have accidents in the house. She's been on this product for nine months now and her problems have stopped completely. During the first jar, I was able to figure out the right dose for her, which is about 1/2 teaspoon. I sprinkle it on her canned food that she eats with no problems early in the morning.

I would definitely recommend this product to cats that have similar problems.

If you have a cat or dog with a sensitive stomach, GET THIS STUFF!!!

I'm pretty sure this stuff saved my cat's life! No kidding. She stopped eating solid food a long time ago because at some point she developed a VERY sensitive stomach and threw up dry food almost every time she ate. I had to give her meds for it daily and my cat is named "Monster" for a darn good reason!!! Good lord! You'd think I was strangling her rather than just giving her meds!

So, I started feeding her can food and she had difficulty keeping even that down too, even the really good stuff!!! UGH!!!

I realized after being given digestive enzymes for myself, that my cat desperately needed them too. I came across an article when I was considering making her food myself and it mentioned using probiotics in the food because "it's like Parmesan cheese to a cat." We'll, I don't know if that's quite true, but I needed digestive enzymes desperately for her and found this product with the added bonus of the pre and pro biotics which is just icing on the cake! My cat definitely does not mind the taste of this stuff whether mixed in or thrown on top (as long as its not too thick because then it'll get into her nose).

Bottom line? After at least 2 years of yo-yo-ing, my cat very rarely throws up her food! Within about 6 weeks she gained back 2 lbs!!!

I really don't think my cat could have held out more than another 6 months had I not found this product.

And by the way, a HUMAN digestive enzyme product can seriously help people who have painfully slow digestion!

Our Chuihuahua/Jack Russell mix suddenly started scratching like crazy. This has happened one other time & we're not sure if it's an allergy, response to change in food, or simply the dryness of S.California climate. But, my wife decided to research possible causes & solutions for itchy dogs & we decided to add probiotics & enzymes to both of our dogs' diets. The first place we turn for any purchase like this is Amazon (Love that Amazon Prime!). We looked at the overwhelming amount of choices & decided on this product based on 1) It combines both of the products we were looking for--probiotics AND enzymes 2) The reviews. And, I'm happy to report that we've been using it for over a week now, and our poor dog is itch free and able to sleep through the night without scratching herself crazy!

easy to break into smaller pieces for the cats and the dogs love these treats too. a little smelly but that's why the critters love it!

Click Here to Read More Reviews >>

I like all of the ingredients in this product, it's very healthy--organic, no antibiotics, hormones, or added flavors, which is great. They break apart really easily which I love because I can take one for my 11lb dog and break it into 3 or more small pieces while we're out, that way she eats less calorically but still feels like she's getting multiple treats. They're also not greasy so I can keep them in my pocket.

My dog, who has a little trouble with hard treats (or perhaps just has little willpower), has a hard time chewing these, so they take her awhile to eat, which I don't mind except it's hard for training because she has to take it over and work on it for a few minutes before we can continue. She also doesn't really seem to love the taste so much, she can take them or leave them. Sometimes she'll take hours to finish a little piece of one of these because she's not that interested.

I'd say they're great if you have a dog that will eat anything. If your dog is pickier, they may be too bland or too difficult to eat to serve as a quick treat for training.

I was looking for a product to replace Greenies for my three year old Chinese Crested. Although Bonnie never had any serious problems with Greenies I read about dogs choking on them and I know a few dogs even died. I realize dogs can choke on any product but I began to get very nervous.

Flossies are great! Each Flossie lasts a lot longer than an individual Greenie did and they appear to be digested better by my

dog. The crude protein in Greenies states "not less than 52 per cent" and in Flossies it states Crude Protein, minimum 89.73 per cent!" It is a low fat treat that my precious "baby" loves.

By the way, in fairness to Greenies, they have come out with a wonderful "SMART BISCUIT" that is very digestible for dogs, as well as a treat called BARX, which is a very healthy soft snack stick.

But Flossies will last your dog a long time and Bonnie guards her's ferociously!

Its the same knuckle cut in half, and then cut in half again so you really are only getting one half sliced in two, this is your two peices. Does not seem like a good value to me. I can buy the whole knucle at the pet store for like 6 dollars.

My two Rotties love Knuckle Bones and the slices are the most economical to give them. However, they come paked two to a package. One of the bones in the package is useable but the other bone, seems to be an "end" and is not enjoyed, at all, by the dogs, so it goes to waste.

I have been using these pill pockets for a couple of years. I have two dogs who are in congestive heart failure, one who will eat anything and one who will eat nearly nothing and certainly nothing out of my hand except for cheese or meat! For the one who will eat anything, these are a God send. I put her pills in the pill pocket and she gobbles them up. For the other dog, I have to load the pill pocket and then poke it down his throat. However, the nice thing is that he don't taste the pills, some of which are real nasty tasting, which makes giving him pills much easier. My dogs prefer the chicken and it is somewhat softer than the beef. Neither of them likes the turkey.

One can use cheese, hotdogs, liverwurst, but the pill pockets are much easier and less messier and definitely easier to poke down a resistant doggy! These pill pockets are a great invention and much less expensive through Amazon than from the vet or a pet store!

I have a small Boston Terrier who loves to chew. A friend of mine gave me an N-Bone as a gift for Damascus. I thought at first he wouldn't like it because it was so hard...Man, was I wrong! He absolutely loves them and they keep him busy for hours. Great product.

Tried it on 5 different tanks/ponds. More effective on smaller tanks than larger. Very effective on my indoor aquariums (5 gal or smaller). Good on my two smaller fountains / ponds (> 20 gal). Results usually seen within 36 hours. No effect on my 50 gallon patio pond. Have tried as directed (one application per week). Have tried doubling the dose. Have tried increasing frequency of dosing to 2x's wk. Even completely drained and replaced with aged water including reco'd dose. Still greenish and cloudy. I have good filtration with a strong submersible pump that provides more than adequate circulation. Local temps during this time range from 40 to 70 degrees. Some sun followed by days of cloudiness. Hardly the kind of exposure that would normally foster high algae growth. Stumped as to why it works so well on smaller indoor and outdoor tanks but not on a 50 gal pond.

I have a new pond, and start to see algae to cloud the water after just one week in the sun. At first, I put in the right dosage. The 2nd day, the water is still green and cloudy, but rather more brown (the color of the extract). I put in the same amount and the water became clear on the 3rd day. There is still algae on the liner and rocks, but water is clear (still a little brown). So, I'm happy. Just hope it can last 4 weeks or more because it's not cheap.

Update: one week later, green water is back and worse. Used the extract 3 days in a roll, and it didn't help or maybe even worse. could algae be feeding on the barley and peat extract? Strange. I will try pond bacteria next.

This is the best product for our fish and plant pond. We have used many but this seems to do the work the best out of all the products we have tried.

String algae thrived in my pond. This product is the first effective product that not only killed the algae, but my stream, well, and pond remain sparkling clear!
