As another reviewer pointed out, gerbils will gorge on high fat foods, which is unhealthy for them. When I opened the bag, the sunflower seeds were all at the top. Had I scooped this into their bowl, it would have contained 50% sunflower seeds. That would be like me eating bacon for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I give my gerbils at most 3 sunflower seeds a day.
If you have a gerbil, I recommend Gerri Gerbil food. It is the only food I have found that is made just for gerbils. My gerbils love it and they all look healthy. I have found that different sellers have it available at different times, so I check for a good deal and prime shipping.
Also, the seeds looked dry to me. We purchased bulk raw, unsalted sunflower seeds from our grocery store that look much fresher. When I offered my gerbil a seed from the Kaytee bag, he didn't take it.
I ended up giving this food to a friend with a hamster.

First of all, I think this is a great deal since you get a 5 pound pack for way less than you get at a chain pet supply store. I was a bit anxious since I wasn't sure if our new hamster was going to like the food, but he seems to really like it. His favorite is the sunflower seeds (which apparently most hamsters love) but he eats the other stuff in the pack too.
Our family has a Djungarian dwarf hamster and the label says to feed hamsters up to two tablespoons a day. This seems to be more than sufficient for our hamster since there's leftover food the next day. I just top up as necessary (because he does tend to drag bits of food into his little home/nest, not to mention storing it in his cheeks) and plan on cleaning out the food holder once a week.
The best part is that this is an enriched diet for hamsters and should supply our hamster with all the vitamins and sustenance he needs as part of a healthy diet.

When I first got my robo dwarf hamsters, I was unsure of what food I should even get them. After a few brands, I tried this food. They both seemed to really love it, especially with all the different variety. My only problem with the product is the protein level of the food is too low for it to be completely healthy for my two hamsters. So i've found ways to supplement more protein to their diet, and are very healthy. Also, as a word of note, though my hamsters love sun flower seeds, I had to make sure I restricted the amount of sunflower seeds they get. So I separated the sunflower seeds out since there is so many of them in the bag. I put the sunflower seeds, as well as the corn, into a different container and add as I please. As well as that, I was not impressed that there were tons of alfalfa pellets. My hamsters dislike those. But otherwise, the food really does keepthem healthy.

My robo hamster Holly LOVED this food. She would clean out her bowl in a day or two. My other robo Mistletoe and syrian Amigo don't like it at all. They hardly touch it except to look for something yummy and when they don't find it they leave.

My hampster Hanley loves this food. I didn't think it would make a difference but he prefers this because it has a ton of sunflower seeds and those are his favorite! This food is great because the majority of the items are big instead of those tiny seed things. Yes there are still some but not the majority. Happy housing!
