I've been using Pill Pockets for the last year or so. My dog has never spat one back out, and I find them much easier to use than e.g., peanut butter or bread.

In the past, I've used the tablet size pill pockets, but decided to try the capsule version. For roughly the same price, the capsule version is far more economical. The pill pockets are huge! You can easily split them in half to make the bag last longer. I will never go back to the tablet version again.

These are basically moldable bits of chicken putty, and my liver-spotted dalmatian Jack loves them. Every morning he takes a big fish oil capsule that he thinks is weird on its own and two pills. I tear one of these pill pockets in half, then mush one half of the half around the fish oil and mush the other pills into the other half of the half, and he gobbles it all up without complaint. I'm stingy with these, because they get a little expensive when you have to use them every day, but they really are just the thing for getting a dog to take medicine. I'd use as many of them as necesary to get Jack to take his meds, but so far the economy approach is working. Great product!

I have to give my lab mix 6 capsules a day. This being the dog that can somehow spit out the teeniest-tiniest pill no matter how much good stuff is wrapped around the medication, I was thrilled to find this product. The capsules I have to give her are actually too big for this pocket (hence 4 stars instead of 5) but I can moosh the pill pocket around the capsule well enough that she's eaten the pill pocket and looking for more before she realizes that there's medication hidden inside. With only 30 pill pockets in each 7.9oz pouch, I'll definitely have to buy in bulk. I'm saving so much time and energy and wasted medication; I'd definitely recommend these to anyone who has a dog who hates takes their meds.

These work great for hiding pet medications. Just place the pill inside the pocket, squeeze to seal the edges, and then roll into a ball. I have four dogs, three of which will eat a loaded pill pocket with no problem, but for the fourth who tends to chew her treats thus discovering the pill inside, I simply place a loaded pill pocket inside a bowl of her favorite moist dog food and wait to see that she eats everything. This usually does the trick and she consumes the food along with the loaded pill pocket without noticing anything out of the ordinary.

FYI -

To prevent transfer of medicine smell or taste, do not touch Pill Pockets treat with the hand that held the pill.

I love these things. My dog has arthritis and needs to take medication 3 times a day. Before I found these we had to push the pill to the back of her throat to get a pill down her. We had tried all the usual things that involved putting her pills into various types of food but she always managed to spit out the pills and get the food.

Now with Greenie Pill Pockets the pills go down 1st time every time and no one is traumatized; especially me.

This is a five-star product selling at twice what it should be. Check out any other pet vendor. It should be $6/per box. Heck, we get them at our local petstore in NYC for $6/box. But the treats are fantastic, no grains, my dogs have been enjoying Cloud Star products for years and I'm thrilled they are making crunchy no-grain dog biscuits. As a veterinarian, I love Cloud Star products for several reasons. First of all, I love how they commit 10% of their net profits to non-profit organizations (which benefit not only four-legged pets, but also women, children, and the environment). Secondly, all their products are made in the USA, which is really important. With the recent FDA voluntary recalls on treats from China (e.g., chicken jerky treats, sweet potato treats, etc.), I never advocate that my clients feed treats, food, etc. from China. With Cloud Star products, I fully understand all the ingredients. Lastly, my dog loves them: both the wet variety and the dried. Great for filling Kong products to entertain him while I'm away.

With the smooth aged cheddar flavor, the ingredients are: chickpea flour, pea flour, tapioca starch, potato flour, cheddar cheese, expeller pressed canola oil and mixed tocopherols (to prevent spoiling).

Personally, I will state that the majority of dogs are not gluten, corn, or wheat intolerant, so that aspect isn't a huge selling point for me. Grain free is OK in my opinion in dogs that are NOT allergic to them. Regardless, you know what you're getting with these products.

I'm NOT an advocate of making cats vegetarian (they are carnivores). Dogs are omnivores and generally prefer a meat-based diet (e.g., the first ingredient in your dog food should ideally be meat). However, if you're looking for a good vegetarian biscuit, this one fits!

I LOVE that these cookies look like actual cookies: gingerbread men! They are fun to give my dogs and my dogs love them. They are very crunchy too. But in the whole box only about 1/4 of the cookies were remotely whole. All of the rest were broken in pieces: arms, legs, heads, bits of torso. Sad :(

This is a good product.After years of searching for the answer to my dog's itching and rash, and spending big $$$, we finally have learned a few things.

If you care to read on and get to the root of allergy issues, here is what I have learned:

First, bathe your allergy pet with a good shampoo twice per week and be sure to rinse thoroughly with luke warm water (I use anti fungal shampoo) keeping away from face and ears .

Use a wash cloth for face and ears using 2 cups water mixed with1/4 cup organic applecider vinegar.( anti fungal and smells good when dry)

Then, mix I cup POVIDONE IODINE with 1 gallon of water, pour all over your pet's back, legs and bottom of feet. Avoid face and ears. DO NOT RINSE the iodine mixture.

I would suggest reserving some iodine solution in a small bowl to do a quick paw dip every day.

Let your pet sleep on CLEAN, dry sheets. Fungus is often the issue,and fungus spreads, so you have to keep them cool ,dry and very clean!

If you want to get to the ROOT of the problem, get your pet off dog food and feed them real food. Don't listen to your vet if they try to sell you their food.Raw diet is best,but allergy dogs should have limited ingredients. Use 20 calories per pound, so a 20pound dog can eat 400 calories per day

We feed raw beef and ONE vegetable like cabbage for a few days. (Just freeze the beef for 3 days first to kill potential parasites,defrost and pour boiling water over the meat just before serving)

Watch your pet and see if there is any reaction...if not,then you know that food is ok for them.

I feed cooked fish ( don't overcook it or you loose nutrients quickly) with ONE veggie twice per week too.

One of my dogs is allergic to chicken and eggs, so her diet is very limited. The dog with only mild, seasonal allergies gets chicken a couple of times each week and 2 raw egg yolks for breakfast ( no egg whites as it's hard to digest)

Carrots are very good for dogs, but dogs can only digest carrots if mashed well.

Rotate your green veggies every few days,but watch carefully. Slowly add sweet potatoes and watch for a few days, carrots and watch, green beans and watch, and so on. It is best to give allery dogslimited ingredients,but do rotate the veggies so they get good nutritions...I like cabbage, kale, asparagus, broccoi.

Finally, you MUST use a very small touch of salt, get some vitamins, and give a little calcium if you feed real food diet. They also NEED essential oils, so you give fish oil capsules or coconut oil. This supplement works. I can't stress enough how important it is to give good supplements and vitamins,especially if on a limited diet for allergy issues. Don't skip it. The dog's coat will tell you if they are getting enough fish oil and supplements.

I give distilled water to drink . Optional is to mix in 1 tsp of liquid Fulvic Minerals.

The only vet medicine I will consider for allergy issues is ATOPICA. Expensive,but you can give it for a couple of months, then taper down to every other day. If it works, you can then go the generic form of this called CYCLOSPORINE as this is much less expensive. The Cyclosporine only works for some dogs.

For treats, give your dog a RAW beef bone. Bone marrow is excellent. Dip in boiling water for a second. This will clean their teeth and keep them happy for a couple of hours.

Add GOOD pet vitamins. Pat Mckay has some good ones on her site that are working good for my dogs. Homemade pet food does not have the needed bone meal and basic vitamins in it so you have to add these.

Vaccines are given too much. Give only what is required by law and know that after your dog is 5 years old ,the vaccinations are highly ineffective anyway..it's a money maker and in some cases can make your pet sick. DON"T let your vet give vaccine's if they are in an allergy breakout

I would highly recommend that you google " PAT MCKAY" for some free diet info, and also go to Youtube.com and type in VET BECKER ....she has some very good videos all subjects that are geared toward FREE tips to do yourself at home. Do not let your vet give vaccinations if your pet is having a rash or allergy breakout Also most vets will give your dog Prednisone and other drugs, and this almost killed my dog because it gave her Pancreatitis.

If you want to extend their lives and help them live long and healthy, you have to be proactive and do a little work...it sounds like a lot, but it's really easy to manage once you know what to do, and after spending THOUSANDS of dollars at vet specialist, I learned that they really don't know as much as I do about allergies!

If you do the bathing and change the diet, find the right supplements,you will find the allergy issue to be eliminated or drastically reduced.

Dogs can live over 20 years if you take good care of them, and many do outside of the US.

Good luck...just like humans, allergies is a complex issue,but if you do this you will find that it works well for most dogs

I have 3 short hair dogs, that all seem to suffer from seasonal allergies. I have been giving my dogs these supplements for about 1 year now, and can honestly say nothing works better. I have tried several other brands, but always end up coming back to Vet's Best.

They do smell a little weird, but my dogs have no problem eating them plain. I have made a "treat" out of it for them. I give 2 tabs per day to each dog.

These used to be the only treats my dog would eat. He loved them, and would not eat anything else. I saw a news report about the FDA warning on china imported jerky treats, and thought no way could that be reason my dog has been having health problems, they sell them at Whole Foods and advertise the chicken as organic and free-range, words which just aren't used in china imported meat. I took a close look, and there it is, made in china in TINY print. I stopped feeding them and slowly my dog has stopped throwing up all the time, has his energy back, and just obviously is feeling like himself again. Please don't play roulette with your dogs life. Check all packaging closely, and tell this company to stop importing from china! Dogswell, btw, will not respond, and has banned and blocked and deleted my inquiries on their facebook page. They do not care about your or my dogs health.

We bought a bulk bag of basic rawhide rolls when we first got our dog. After a few rolls, she figured out the best technique to demolish it. We have to take it away after about 20 minutes because half of the roll is gone and she'll get sick otherwise. Wanting a challenge so that she could actually enjoy it for longer during a day, we got her a bone. Our dog had a 5" bone prior to this one that we got for $2.99 at the local sporting goods store. She loved it and carried it with her everywhere. It took her 4 days to get a single knot off of one end and the rest of it lasted another week. When I saw this one I figured that it would last longer (or at least similar) due to it's larger size. Boy was I wrong. I gave it to her and she happily carried it around with her for the first 30 minutes without even putting her jaw bone to work. I checked on it again an hour later and a knot was already off and the middle roll of the bone was almost completely gone. WHAT?? Less than 2 hours and it's basically just 2 knots???

Needless to say, this bone didn't hold up at all. She had the entire bone demolished in just 2 days and that's only because we had to take it away when we went to bed. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has a dog that actually likes to chew rawhide. It's a very thin rawhide that doesn't take much for the dog to power through.

The Biscuit Buddy that was sent to me was NOT the type pictured. The style in the picture is made of a high quality, thick, durable material. The pouch that was sent to me is flimsy, thin, and has none of the awesome features that the pouch in the picture has (no zippered pocket, no locking clip).

I have returned this product and requested an exchange for the style of pouches that are pictured, or a refund. I will leave more feedback after the exchange/return has been completed. I hope the company does not let me down.

UDATE (3/16/2010):

Received my requested exchanged item, and to my extreme disappointment, it was exactly the same product I'd received the first time. BEWARE: the product pictured is NOT the product you will receive. The product the company sends is inferior and has none of the same features as the much nicer, higher quality Biscuit Buddy in the picture. I've now requested a complete REFUND from the company. Will purchace the Biscuit Buddy in the picture from a different website. Disappointed.

Pros:

Holds lots of treats, or treats and a tennis ball.

Flexible top seal closes well and is easy to use.

The Biscuit Buddy is attractive.

Cons:

Belt clip is flimsy and weak. You WILL lose your Biscuit Buddy if you rely on it.

Belt clip is riveted on, hard to replace with something stronger.

Belt loop clip is flimsy plastic and way too small. It took a lot of effort to get it on my Levi's belt loop, and even more effort to get it off.

Belt loop clip has to be destroyed to remove it for replacement with a bigger metal clip.

For the above reasons, I would not buy this again if this one were stolen. But it's good enough for the reasons on top for me not to trash it...yet.

This treat holder does have some nice features; drawstring closure for keeping the treats in ( & dog snouts out), little side zipper pocket which can hold a poo bag, small training clicker, & key. Safety clip to snap onto belt loop so you don't lose it when the utterly useless loose, wimpy clip falls off your belt.

of course, if you ever walk/work with/train your dog while wearing anything that DOESN'T have belt loops, you are (pardon the expression) screwed, & the Biscuit Buddy becomes ByeBye Buddy...& I'm SO glad I didn't have my car or house key in it when I walked on the beach this afternoon.

So if every single item of clothing you own has belt loops --in the right place-this is a great treat bag. If not, avoid this thing like the plague. (Ever walk the dog in sweat pants? Buy several replacements.) The clip is incredibly loose & wimpy & strictly for show; the bag falls off every time you bend over, bump it, jog, run, sneeze, or laugh hard.

btw, I just read some of the other reviews. I did not get mine from Amazon, but from a local retailer. I'm fairly certain I had the actual BB pictured here; it had the zip pocket & the fabric seemed fairly heavy duty, & I'm pretty sure the logo looked just like the ones in the pic. I cannot, of course, compare mine with those pictured, since by now either someone picked it up from the beach & is being aggravated by the stupid belt clip, or it's blown into the Pacific & some large fish is happily digesting the organic doggy treats which were in it (including some very expensive freeze dried goat heart....grrr).

So, the brand name "real" one has a lousy clip which (as another reviewer noted) is permanently affixed to the bag. I'm going to try another brand, as a treat pouch is VERY handy to have for teaching purposes.

I did not purchase this through Amazon, but bought it in a retail store. I really loved this item...at first. It has many great features like the multiple ways to attach the bag to a belt, the leash, etc., the zippered side pocket which is awesome, as well as the size. However, like some of the other reviewers have stated, the lining completely shredded after just a month of use. So it's useless now. This problem could be easily fixed if they changed the drawstring from the position they currently have it in (i.e. the middle of the lining) and added it along with an extra flap on the top. This is an excellent training treat for every day. It's not a "high value" treat (used for more challenging training situations) nor is it so bland that it does not serve as an incentive. It's a good size, though it does make some crumbs. Plus, "liver biscotti" is fun to say!

My 2 dogs love this treat. When my oldest (male) was younger, he would sit down, stand up, go down, roll over, etc. and do every trick in his repertoire before I even gave him a command whenever I pulled out a bag of the liver biscotti. My female also loves this but she's a little less silly. Also, this has never upset their stomachs nor caused allergic reactions. I finally had to find a place that sold this in bulk (i.e., 5 lbs. bags) since I was going to the store ALL the time to buy more of these. Five of my five dogs agree they'd rather munch liver biscotti than almost anything else. I pull out a treat and they come running. It cheers 'em up, encourages them to obey, lets 'em know I love 'em, and got me over some really rough training spots with my 90 pound puppy!!! This is an excellent product! Easy to administer to my dogs! They now have a LOT more energy than they had before.

one of my dogs ate it right up the other needed me to hide it. i liked the price but since I have one dog at 100lbs and the other at 70lbs they were gone in a jiffy. I'll buy again simply because I do need so many and these are the right ingredient for a more affordable price.

My cats love these treats. I have 3 cats and have been buying this product for years. The last 3 packages have been inundated with spiky, hard pieces that would choke my cats. I break them up and place the hard ones aside. Between the 3 bags 3/4 of it was wasted. I'm going to have to find another company if it doesn't change. These were really below expectations.

My cat that we adopted is the pickiest treat eater you will ever know. We've tried at least 6 different brands and many various of said brands. Eventually we ended up giving them away to our friends because she wouldn't eat them. Then we found Whole Life and she fell in love with it! I got a free sample of them from Whole Life and after I gave her a nibble she went fishing for the bag. When the bag was empty she ended up chewing through the bag just to get to the powder at the bottom. Definately worth the price if you're at your wits end at trying to treat your cat.

We were looking for a healthy treat for our cat Zeus...one that he would actually eat and enjoy and was not cut with junk. He LOVES the Freeze Dried Chicken Breast!! Our daughter has Zeus in Boston and is gone much of the day and most evenings so she places small pieces of the chunks of chicken in the Cat Amazing Puzzle Box before she leaves and Zeus is kept busy hunting and playing and enjoying his catch. I have been buying this product for several years and have always been delighted with it, or rather, my cat and my dog have always been delighted with it! I have trained my cat to come inside when I call her, by giving her a piece of chicken when she responds!! It looks just like a piece of chicken breast that has been sliced and it is easy to break it into any size you want for your pet. I read 1 negative review recently, so I looked at other products to find something comparable. Then I remembered that you usually get what you pay for! This product is not cheap, but it IS excellent. So I ordered another bag, as usual. I was surprised when I opened the bag to find these small, rectangular shaped pieces of very hard, and hard to break chicken. I tried feeding it to my pets, but found it was hard to break into smaller pieces and they are just too big for my cat's mouth. I decided to give the company a call to let them know that the product I received was NOT their normal product. I have to say this company has THE BESTS customer service I have received in a LONG, long time. I called after hours and received a call back first thing the next morning from Jennifer. She was very pleasant, concerned and appreciative of my call to let them know about my experience. She asked me for the manufacture date on the package, which confirmed a "bad batch" (my words). I will continue to pay a little more to get a GREAT treat for my pets!! All I have to do is open the bag, and they come running! Thank you, Whole Life, for making this product.

We gave this to our leagle (lab/beagle mix) and she loved it. It bounces erratically and is fun to chase. The ridges also make it fun to chew. Unfortunately, with in 15 minutes of gnawing, she was able to start removing tiny pieces of rubber. Normally, Kongs (unlike many other toys) prove indestructible to her . . . not this one. Great toy if your dog is not a strong chewer.

This toy is sturdy! It has stood up to our teething terrier very well for months now. When I toss it. it will bounce in unexpected directions. This adds to the fun. We still have all our Kong products and rotate them to maintain interest. I'd recommend this for the strong chewer.

My dogs licked this jump'n jack toy for 10 seconds and then walked away. I don't know if they will ever try to play with it again....lol. I will never get this type of toy again. They are more preoccupied with watching me while I type this review than play with there brand new kong jump'n jack dog toy...lol
