We have two smaller dogs, 13 and 14 pounds. They both loved to chew on these bones. They would chew for hours--until there was nothing left! Then one day one of them got sick. Within 36 hours he was gone! We are devastated! A piece of nylabone broke off and lodged in his intestine. It did not show up on X-Rays since it is a plastic substance. Always supervise your pet with their toys. You never know when something like this can happen. We have found that this is not an isolated occurrence. You can read other stories at this site:

Nylabones last my dogs (pit bulls) a long time. They're not messy and are easy to clean. This style of bone is very simple and Amazon sells them much cheaper than the pet stores.

Been using these for years with our golden retrievers. They love all of the flavors and really seem to enjoy grinding their teeth on the ends of the bone. We have to throw them away once the ends have been gnawed off because the bone become dangerously sharp.

My dogs love these. For the dogs these clean their teeth, they serve as something to keep busy, and a stress reducer when they are impatiently waiting for dinner.

Watson LOVES these! I used to buy pig ears but they were too greasy. These are just right.

I was hesitant at first to buy these on line for my Lab. I read other reviews and they mentioned how big the ears were and how much their pet loved them. I ordered 10 bags. All were pretty much the same size allowing my Lab to enjoy them longer than the other brand I bought. Rawhide doesn't compare to these cow ears. Every bag was consistant in size, fresh and crisp. I recommend these ears to anyone with dogs 40 lbs. or larger.

When I got my dog he was eating everything in the house and getting sick from it. I decided to give him rawhide treats of all kinds as it was better than shoes, slippers, the fly swat, and a washrag. However, I discovered cow ears and really like them. They are thin and I think much better for a doggy stomach than thick rawhide. Though I do like the super big rawhide bones, because they get played with more than eaten. I didn't give this product 5 stars because there are deep smoked cow ears that are available and my dog prefers the super smoked ones. Of course the advantage of the white cow ears is that they last longer and that's a good thing.

The ears were fine but they did lack the curly knot on the ends. This is how my little shih-tzu's hold them to chew. They were clean and large! I would say great for larger breeds. The price was good so I can't complain. I like the fact they are not coated with anything. They did not fade on the carpet or smell. So I would recommend them just be ready to cut for the smaller breeds.

I have senior dogs who's ability to chew 'treats' is diminishing. These are great for them; very clean, thin, and no odor. Almost all of the large, tough base cartilage has been removed. Plus, these are big enough that you can actually cut them in half ( with garden pruners) so that 1 ear makes 2 chewies. SSSHHHH, don't tell my girls that I am doing this! They also come very promptly.

My dog made this bone disappear in a matter of 20 minutes. He totally enjoyed the flavor. Best part about this style of roll is that it's less messy than standard rolls that chip and get stuck in the carpet. Wish they were a bit more cost effective or carried at my local pet store. Great enjoyment for my dog.

We purchased these for our dog after reading about how bad real rawhide is, and how it can cause digestive damage.

A piece of this "treat" lodged in my dog's upper intestine, causing blockage for 3 days. She has never had trouble with any other type of chewy or rawhide. My dog vomited up everything she ate until this jammed piece of rawhide gradually dissolved over time. Anyways, we paid about $1300 to find this out over a few xrays and a puppy ultrasound, overnight puppy hospital, IV doggy fluids, and other tests.

Your dog will probably have a better experience with these bones, because I don't think it gets any worse. But I wouldn't recommend risking it. If I could vote negative stars I would.

Well, I have been giving these to my dog and she loves them and has never has any issues. Perhaps the prior poster's dog did not chew the bone well enough; I don't know. I have a dog that is part pit and has powerful jaws so she dismantles these with ease. Maybe some breeds are not suited for these chews.

I board Labrador Retrievers in my home and when each guest leaves, I give them a special treat. I like to vary them so this cupcake cookie is one of several that I gift. I keep them on had in case a dog celebrates a birthday. Always have to tell people it's a DOG treat, although it looks very yummy to humans. Dale at We Board Labs, Inc.

A very impressive toy. Our dog can chew his way through virtually anything, and is more than happy to have one of these, instead. It lasts forever, it doesn't chip or split, and our vet says that it's a great toy for a dog to exercise his gums and keep his teeth clean. Definitely one of the best buys on the market--it lasts almost a full year before it's just to disgusting to keep. High recommended.

So after reading all the reviews here we were excited to try another Nylabone for our Rottie who, putting it mildly, is a super aggressive chewer. He either has had or currently owns all of the largest Nylabones the company has to offer and we were happy to see the size of this one compared to his other large bones. Unfortunately the honeymoon didn't last long because within the first few hours of ownership he chewed off 1/4 of the green middle part. He starts with the nubs and gradually works his way onto larger chunks. He is always supervised with new toys and lucky for us he isn't a swallower of large chunks, although I'm sure we will find our fair share of green nubs in the yard tomorrow morning after his usual morning business a nice little St. Paddy's day treat for us all! Oh yeah, it does smell pretty good overall as the mint hides some of the usual slobber stench so that's a plus as well.

My Rottie destroys toys of all kinds. Unbreakable, indestructible... Forget it ! He can CHEW! After a month, yes it looks gnawed, but the green band is still on it. It is his favorite toy to chew! It is loud w hen he drops it on the floor as it weighs a ton. But he loves to chew it in his crate! I highly recommend this for POWER or extreme chewers.

Ordered this item because it was advertised for POWERFUL chewers. Received it yesterday. Within an hour our 60 pound, 1.5 year old pit bull has the center green portion more than half eaten. She also managed to get off a few of the nylon nubs on the end. I would not recommend this item for powerful or extreme chewers.

We have a 70lb German Shepherd / Akita mix. When we first got her from the foster we tried all sorts of toys to keep her from chewing on furniture, but she only like the soft squeaky toys which she managed to destroy in minutes. We finally found the Tuffy's Mega Ring (available on amazon) and she loves it. The only problem was without something hard to chew on, she was developing plaque / tartar on her teeth. A vet cleaning was $150+ so we look for alternative chew toys. The dog came to us eating only vegetarian food, so we have maintained that (we tried giving her a rawhide, but she just left it alone). I emailed Nylabone and they confirmed that this chew is 100% vegetarian; the "bacon flavor" is an aromatic that is not derived from animal products:

Double Action® Chews ("DuraChew® Double Action® Chew", "DuraChew® Double Action® Chew Round Ball", and "DuraChew® Double Action® Chew Football"), "bended bone" and "stick" brand Nylabone products are unflavored, but contain a bacon aromatic in the ends to make them more attractive.

These products are flavored with a vegetarian (plant-derived) natural flavoring that does not contain any meat protein. Similar to "tofurkey" and "veggie-burgers," they have the meat flavor without the meat.

Our dog has had the bone for about a month now and the plaque / tartar is nearly gone from her teeth thanks to this chew!

I've been looking for a carrier for refuse bags that doesn't rattle or swing. This has two Velcro tabs. I attach one to the handle loop and one to the body of the leash. The first keeps it from sliding down the lead. Together the straps holds it flat against the lead. The second pocket is just adequate to carry a key. It's sturdy material, well-stitched.

I heartily recommend it.

I bought this after my old fabric bag dispenser (came free with a box of bags) fell apart. I've been using it for a few days now and I heartily recommend it. This thing is so much better than the cheapie dispensers. It has two velcro attachment points so it doesn't rattle or slide around on the leash, and the hole for dispensing the bags is just the right size not so big that the roll falls out, not so small that it's hard to pull out the next bag. The second pocket is a little too small to hold a credit card or ID when there's a full roll of bags, but it will hold a couple of keys, treats, cash. It's especially great for warm days when I don't have any jacket pockets. We use it with a rope-style leash, but it would work with a normal flat leash too.

Great Product, does everything it claims. Easily attaches to leash. I like that the pouch for the bags has a slit that they pull right out of and the additional pouch for another small item. I could fit about a dozen med-large doggie-poo bags rolled up inside.

Purina Busy Bone Dental Dog Treat

My dog LOVES this chew bone, is highly disappointed if I run out. She generally chews one each evening, and has been doing so for at least 1 1/2 years without ill effects. It is sort of expensive, and occasionally I try to substitute, but she gives me this guilt-inducing stare, may grudgingly take the substitute which she then may not finish. My vet recently commented that my dog's teeth looked great for a dog of her age 9yrs.

We are VERY consistent in what we feed our 20lb dog, so we are 100% sure that she got quite sick after eating a large busy bone as it was the ONLY change in her diet, and the symptoms came on within hours of eating the bone. We are on day three right now and she is obviously in pain as she whimpers every now and then, has had diarrhea for three days and is more clingy and timid than she has ever been. I just knew it had to be this bone and searched for "diarrhea" and "busy bone" and found this has happened to many, many dogs. Our dog has never, ever been sick until she ate that bone. PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR DOG EAT BUSY BONES!!!

Warning to dog owners! This product has caused many dogs, including mine, diarrhea, vomiting, and seizures.

~~~~~~~~~
My history with this product:
My dog was very ill for 3 days: violent diarrhea and vomiting. Called vet after first day, they instructed me to keep him on a bland diet, and to bring him in if this persisted more than 3 days. Luckily, he got better and I didn't have to take him in. I thought, maybe it's just my dog and he has a sensitive stomach?
I went to the web to research the product and found others had experienced the same thing. So I wondered...why is this product still on the market? I contacted Purina, and after no luck with them (who claimed they never heard of any complaints), I contacted the FDA, which currently has this product under surveillance.
By the way, my dog is not a toy breed, he's a 20 lb. mutt. So say what you want to say about the latest 'not meant for toy breed' disclaimer on the package, he doesn't fall into that category.
Sure, some dogs can tolerate this treat, but why take a chance on your pet's health and life?
Want Purina Busy Bone Dental Dog Treat Discount?
This treat has given my 120 pound doberman seizures and diarrhea badly. He is shaking all over and can barely walk as his hind legs are not wanting to stand. The muscles keep contracting. He finally vomited a lot of the bone.
I fed him one small busy bone. How can a company allow this to be sold?????????????
The chemicals and colors in this treat are off the chart. PLEASE DO NOT FEED THIS TO YOUR DOG. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO PURINA AND THE FDA
