I used to feed both of my cats a different brand name cat food that was supposed to be for those kitties with sensitive tummies, and it was okay, but this Pinnacle cat food has the other brand beat hands down.

We have been feeding our cats this food for about a year now and we have been having a lot fewer instances of upset tummies compared to the incidents we were having prior to switching over to this brand of cat food.

Both of our cats love it even though only one of them has a sensitive tummy issue. Initially, it took a couple of weeks of mixing the old cat food with the new Pinnacle cat food and then slowly eliminated the old cat food until they were just eating the new Pinnacle cat food. Now my cat will stick his head in the bowl and eat a hole to the bottom before working his way around the edges of the bowl. Quite funny to watch actually! Ha Ha Ha

My other cat is a strange one indeed, he will get a mouthful of food and then walk a couple of steps away from the bowl, drop the food onto the ground and the proceed to eat it from the ground. Not quite sure what is going on with that.

Anyhow, I would highly recommend this brand of cat food for your kitty if he or she has a sensitive tummy. And don't worry about the price; it is an investment in the health of your furry four-legged children, as all of us good parents know. My ten month old cat was switched from dry kitten food to dry adult food (Science Diet) He immediately developed bloody diahhrea. I took him to the vet. She gave him a clean bill of health and guessed it might be a dietary problem. I tried him on a few different brands of dry food, most containing corn or brewer's rice and chicken. No Improvement in his condition. I then found Pinnacle dry cat food. I noticed no corn or rice in this food. I fed it to my cat and it was amazing. Within 12 hours his diahhrea was gone. If your cat has a sensitive system, I would strongly urge you to try the Pinnacle dry cat food. It is a bit expensive, but worth every penny for the health and well being of your cat.

I'm so impressed by Pinnacle that I'm trying out some of their wet food such as Pinnacle Chicken & Tuna Formula Cat Food 24 5.5-Ounce Cans. It's tough to evaluate the health of the food when I'm not a vet, but it seems to have decent ingredients: the first two ingredients are Chicken Meal and Chicken, versus Friskies where you have to go three ingredients in to get to chicken by-product meal, and way down the list to even get to something with the word "meat" in it (meat and bone meal).

At least as importantly, my cats eat it. I won't say that they love it the same way they love the Friskies: I can harass Purina for their ingredients, but I don't think anything healthy will really ever match Friskies for taste! I guess it's sort of like hot dogs versus a chicken breast on whole wheat bread with low-fat mayonaisse. But I'd rather keep my little kitties around for as long as I can, even if the food doesn't taste all that great.

[Update November 19, 2012] After a few months of this food, my cats' coats have never looked better!

My 2 year old yorkie is ridiculously finicky. I've had him for 8 months and have tried about 30 different foods (a lot of small sample bags!). He hasn't liked any of them, he just hates some a little more than others :) I always had to trick him into eating; canned or rolled food as a topper, sprinkles of shredded cheese on the kibble, vita-gravy (which he won't touch), etc., etc. I most recently tried giving him a sample bag of this Halo small breed turkey, duck, and pheasant food, and it was instantly gone, like he was a little vacuum cleaner. I thought that maybe he was just really hungry and that was why he ate it all so quickly, but I figured I would buy a bag and try it out. At first I mixed it with the food he already had. He was just picking around at it. For his next meal I decided to run a little test. I put his old food in one half of the dish, and the Halo in the other half. He instantly ate all of the Halo! I think it whet his appetite a bit because after he ate it all he walked away, but then came back and ate a kibble here and there of his old food. Not only can I not believe I have actually found THE food for the little guy, but I am thrilled that, after a lot of research, I found that I will be supporting the best dog food company around. Now to get rid of the 5 or so pounds that I have left over of his old food :(

My 14lb mutt loves this flavor, more than the chicken flavor. She's not a picky eater, but she hovers over her bowl after every meal. She didn't do that with the chicken, lamb, nor salmon.

I love this food. I been trying to find a food that my small picky dog would enjoy and also didnt contain all these fillers that my dog is allergic to. I used to give him blue buffalo but the fillers in that food made my dog itchy. Afterwards, I looked for a food that didnt contains fillers or chicken which my dog seems to be sensitive to, and I found Halo food. My dog loves this food and this food stopped his itching as well. This is the first time I got a dry food that my dog starts eating it before I even finished pouring it in a bowl. I believe the balanced omega acids in this food has improved my dog"s fur and skin which stopped his itching. The Kimble is also very small and easy for my dog to chew on although at times the Kimble is so small that some escape my dog's mouth. The food is also rich with protein so you really need to measure the proportions of food for your dog. I ended up giving him less amount of food than blue buffalo food since this food so rich with protein and I learned that protein rich foods for dogs can cause them to gain weight.

The main ingredients are real food. I read an article today about how Royal Canin dog food uses "Chicken...aggregate" which is actually feathers ground up and that it can't be absorbed into the dog's cells, and the main ingredient is "Corn starch", which is just a filler with no nutrition. THIS dog food has none of that, and to the contrary, has all great ingredients listed. Very healthy, and my little Maltese loves it, and he's gaining a little weight because he loves eating it.

Having discovered that my cat's asthma has taken a turn for the worse, I was advised to put him on Flovent twice a day. After searching the web for cats and asthma, I found out about this product. Shipment was quick, the product seems to be exactly what is needed to use an inhaler with a cat. Now comes the problem the cat. We practiced for many days with just the mask until he would let me keep it on his face for over 10 breaths. There was no medicine involved (that is a whole other story). There is a little 'flapper' you can see move so that you can count the breaths.

While waiting for the Flovent to arrive, we had to make a quick trip to the vet after a day of serious 'wretching'. I brought the Aerokat with me in case the vet decided a rescue inhalant was required (Albuterol), which it was. This was our first experience with mask and medicine. The cat was so traumatized by the visit to the vet that he sat there and breathed in exactly as directed. I was proud of us both! The vet wrote a prescription for the Albuterol and I got it filled on the way home. We were to use the inhaler every 30 minutes if the symptoms hadn't stopped. By the time we got home, they started again, so I tried to put the mask to his face and that was that. Apparently not having strangers around and being at home removed the trauma and there must have been some memory of inhaling the stuff. He went nuts. Both my husband and I tried 4 times, together and singly, before giving up. Agitiating the cat further was not helping.

The albuterol he did get seemed to make an already irritated throat worse. The day after, the cat ate and drank very little. I upped his prednisone dosage by half a pill and his coughing has slowed down, but we definitely want to try the Flovent and lower the pill dosage. However, training for the mask must start all over and the treat for putting up with it has been upped to something really good. We have a long way to go before attempting to actually use an inhaler again. It may be my guy is just more stubborn that those I have read about. There seem to be many success stories about cats using this device check out YouTube.

If you are reading this review, I assume you have an asthmatic cat. Be sure and check out a Yahoo group specifically for cats on inhaled medication (FAIM, for short) . There are lots of good hints and folks are quick to answer your questions.

Update (11/23/12); We had our first 'puffing' session with the Flovent last night and he did amazingly well. I can't imagine any easier way to use an inhaler with a cat than the Aerokat. I had been putting the mask on without the unit and rewarding him with a treat if he even let it stay 1 second. When he got to the point where I could keep it there for 10 seconds, I started over with the entire unit. The longer it stayed on without him turning his head away hard enough for the mask not to be replaced into position, the more treats he got. Last night I loaded the unit and used the burrito method I sat down, placed him with his back to me between my legs, held his head gently with my left hand and used my right one to place the mask and push the inhaler. He's not happy about it, but is cooperating and getting 4 treats for his effort. The group to check out is felineasthma_inhaledmeds on Yahoo. There is tons of information and people on board to answer your questions and provide help. I can't praise them enough.

Update (12/31/12): After 5+ weeks using the Aerokat, Boots has been weaned off the prednisone and accepts his puffing sessions with grace. If I shake the treats bag, he will sometimes come to me on his own. The only thing he really doesn't care for is the after-session wipe down with a damp cloth. This is a great device, although expensive. In the long run, the cost will amortize out to next to nothing, but the hit to the pocket book in the beginning is a shocker. My advice to all is patience, patience, patience and treats, treats, treats!

My 12-year-old cat has asthma, which we've tried to control for years. The aerokat inhaler works extremely quickly. The little hinged flap (mine is green) will tell you when your cat has breathed in the prescription mist. Just two little tips: 1. When using, place one hand on your cat's butt so he can't "back out" of the inhaler the first several times, because he'll be a little scared (can't breathe, now they're shoving something over my nose and mouth, help!) 2. (Related) If your cat is on prescription prednisilone tabs, it is now available in chewable treat form. Dorian would eat the whole bottle if I let him.

Is this exactly what you are expecting? Yes. It, comes with two masks, it's a nice product, and is has a breath 'monitor." Still, in the end, it is a plastic tube, that is essentially a pediatric mask and air chamber. I think a fair price for this item should be about $30. No offense to the seller, who sent everything claimed (got it in a bout 2 weeks). My Cat has used this with 'Flovent' another over priced drug, that can be ordered through Canada cheeper (but that just seems sketchy to me). All said and done, for this gadget, and the puffer, we are looking at over $120. Sure your pet is worth it, but my Cat hates this thing.... I used it for two weeks, applying the mask alone and then giving a treat each time. Still, I am hard pressed to get 4 breathes with it, let alone the 7-12 suggested. It is hard to train an old cat. I think this might work better for a calm dog, or extremely mellow cat. Don't know if I will continue to use this product, at about $2 a puff, I am wasting more than is getting in the lungs. I think pets are well worth it, but, if it doesn't work great... and at $2 a day, we are talking $730 a year in puffer alone. My advice: If you have a pet who will respond well to things in their face for about a minute, go for it. Maybe try a practice run with a small paper cup with a large whole in the bottom. Hold it over their mouth and nose and count the time see, how they do. Good LUCK

I wasn't sure about this piece of equipment when it arrived, but it works great! It came with 2 masks, and the smaller one fit my cat's face perfectly. I can easily see her breaths with the indicator flap, and thereby count the correct number of inhales for her medication. She doesn't really like it, but she doesn't seem to hate it either. A big accomplishement if you ask me! I was worried about having to continue with her steroid shots, which are bad for her long term. When the option came up for using inhalers (which are better for her), I was skeptical, but not any more. I highly recommend this aerosol chamber for use with cats.

Been using this for my cat for a whole month now and i have to say this product is life saving, literally. My cat constantly needed to be brought to the vet for severe asthma. My puppy absolutely loves these treats! In the product listing, it claims they are a good alternative to rawhide chews. I definitely don't agree with that, as these last nowhere near as long as a rawhide. Nonetheless they are an excellent occasional treat. My pup goes nuts when she sees me opening the bag and can barely contain her joy once she's chewing on it.

I have a chihuahua/dachshund mix--so quite "petite"--but she's a vigorous chewer and can polish one of these off in about 10 minutes or less depending on how elated she is. I usually only give her half of a chew, to make the bag last longer and since I think a whole one is a bit much for a dog that weighs less than 10 lbs!

I recently got 2 west highland white terrier puppies. I love the nylabone company, but was worried about the regular nylabones, or getting them rawhides during their teething stage. I came across these at Petsmart. I am very concerned about what goes into their bodies, I always read the ingriedient list. I was very pleased that they offer flavors like lamb and apple and turkey and sweet potato that are better for their digestive system than bacon flavor, or roast beef, etc.

They are only 2 months old and teething like crazy. I love that they prefer these to my toes and fingers :) They gobble these things up. Which makes me wish they had these available in the larger sizes. Also, they leave tiny bits behind. Maybe my dogs just like to chew it and not eat the little bits. They are also easy to twist in half so if you have two dogs, they can share it, instead of fight over it! Great Product...But kind of expensive. Less than a dollar a piece for the non puppy healthy edibles, but over a dollar a piece for the puppy version. But it is cheaper than having to buy new furniture, cables or shoes!

I give my two small dogs a spoon of pumpkin every night the vet recommended it and they love it! The quality and taste of this product seems to be fine for them they eat it without complaint. However, the issue is that more than half of the cans were SEVERELY dented. Since the box was intact and whole, the cans were clearly already in this condition when placed in the box and shipped. Because of the degree of denting on the cans, I could only safely use about 2/3 of the package. Big picture great product but you are being shipped cans the store won't sell because of the denting. If you can accept that not all cans will be usable, this is good product. But I was disappoint by the condition of the cans and will not repurchase this item.

I have 2 poodle mixes and they had soft poop lately, so I tried giving them probiotics. It didn't help. So I tried giving them 1 tablespoon of this with each meal and now they are SUPER regular in their bowel movements and their poop has firmed up. I don't even have to walk them for them to poop anymore! They just go in the backyard. Trust me these two rarely pooped in the backyard before I started giving them the pumpkin. I do have a plastic dog can lid which I like to use to keep the fresher (at least I like to think so!). None of my cans were dented.

**TIP** I decided to give my dogs 1/2 tbpn since they are 15-20 lbs. Since I can't use the whole can up in 3 days as recommended by the can, I used the 1/2 tablespoon to scoop little mounds onto a small cookie sheet, froze them in the freezer and then put the frozen scoops into a freezer zip lock bag for storage in the freezer.

**UPDATE 4/25/12** My dog with the sensitive stomach, his poop got soft again even though I was giving him the pumpkin every meal. So, now I added 2 tbspns of rice, and that's hardened up his poop. I'll keep testing with different ratios of rice and pumpkin mixed with his canned dog food till I find the perfect output. Hahaha.

Because my local store wasn't carrying pumpkin yet for the holidays and I really needed it for my dogs, I took a chance ordering this product online. Twice I ordered out of necessity and was twice disappointed. Both times, most of the 12 cans in the box were so severely dented that I couldn't trust that it was safe to feed to my dogs. I would have never bought them if they were on a store shelf in that condition. The cans were not damaged in shipping, because the outer Amazon box was fine and the interior Nummy TumTum box was fine. Sadly, that means the dented cans were packed by the company itself, not damaged in transit. My e-mail to Nummy Tum Tum's customer service about the condition of their product went unanswered/ignored. Why I gave the company a second chance I really don't know. I guess I naively thought the extent of the damage to the first batch must have been a fluke. I guess I also thought that the Nummy Tum Tum company would take more pride in its product than to ship the garbage they couldn't sell to customers buying them off the shelves to online customers who wouldn't go through the trouble of shipping them back. Boy, was I wrong. I was willing to give the product a chance, even a second chance, but dealing with this company was a big mistake. Buyer beware!

I'm so sorry to hear about the people who's had a bad experience with the dented cans. My first order came out perfect! No dents and packed very well.

In terms of the product, I couldn't be happier. I first gave this to my shar pei, who has a very sensitive digestive system, in order to help him with his diarrhea. I use it as a supplement to his regular food, and mix it with rolled oats. This might be a little TMI, but within a month of this supplement to his regular food, his diarrhea is gone! His poop has been solid and nothing the vet has prescribed has been able to do that on a prolonged basis.

Note: I've tried the other pumpkins out there (non organic) because they were a bit cheaper...but it didn't have as good a result as the Nummy Tum Tums.

Update: My second order of this product was a bit disappointing. 6 out of 12 cans were dented. Took away a star for that, because it's still a good product. I'm going to see what I can do about those six dented cans.

Update 2: Amazon was fantastic and understanding about the dented cans. Thanks so much! I've since ordered several more boxes (I order about one box a month as it is a daily supplement to my dog's meal) and have had no more dented can experience.

We purchased these for our dog after reading about how bad real rawhide is, and how it can cause digestive damage.

A piece of this "treat" lodged in my dog's upper intestine, causing blockage for 3 days. She has never had trouble with any other type of chewy or rawhide. My dog vomited up everything she ate until this jammed piece of rawhide gradually dissolved over time. Anyways, we paid about $1300 to find this out over a few xrays and a puppy ultrasound, overnight puppy hospital, IV doggy fluids, and other tests.

Your dog will probably have a better experience with these bones, because I don't think it gets any worse. But I wouldn't recommend risking it. If I could vote negative stars I would.

Well, I have been giving these to my dog and she loves them and has never has any issues. Perhaps the prior poster's dog did not chew the bone well enough; I don't know. I have a dog that is part pit and has powerful jaws so she dismantles these with ease. Maybe some breeds are not suited for these chews.

According to research I did before selecting a kibble brand to accompany wet food for my 23# boston terrier, this is a good quality dog food that my dog likes. (I think she would inhale it if given the whereforall to do so.) I see quality dog food as either: good or bad and, if good, either "lick the plate clean" good or "better than nothing" good. My doggie puts this food in the "lick the plate clean" good category so what more can I say? (If looking to supplement online orders with local purchases, I recommend you check around to see how far the nearest Merrick Foods supplier is from your home as not all pet food stores carry it and I've yet to see it in any big box or grocery chains.)

I hesitate to give dog food reviews until our Lhasa has had sufficient time to make up her mind but she seems to like both the Buffalo and Chicken flavors and unlike some reviewers stated, she has not had a problem with gas. I alternate dog foods every few months to keep her menu interesting and it works. If she continues to look for more when her bowl is empty, I will order more and be glad to recommend it to our dog owner friends.

Taste of the Wild

Zignature

Natural Balance

Orijen

Different flavors of each. Until now, they really haven't expressed a preference. But it is very clear they like the Merrick. They go for it without hesitation. I'll put out some Natural Balance and some Merrick, and they hardly touch the Natural Balance.

Apparently the Merrick was recently reformulated, and I can't speak to what the old formula was like, but the new formula must be delicious. The only disadvantage is that it's very expensive per pound, even more so than the Orijen.

The seagulls also seem to like it.

My dog was having feeding issues---for some reason, he wasn't willing to eat so I took him to my vet and we were able to figure it out and get his appetite back. In the meantime, he recommended the 3 green dog multivitamins, which was formulated by a vet and a nutritionist and contained vitamins and supplements, which he thought Lightning needed since he'd basically wouldn't eat for weeks now. I was hesitant to try it as it is quite hard to give my dog any "medicine," and I figured if the vitamins were anything like human vitamins, it was going to taste nasty and it was a fight I did not want to battle. To my surprise, when I opened the bottle, it smelled like peanut butter, which my dog LOVES. Awesome start. I gave it to Lightning and lo and behold, he loved it!! And wanted more! I was so happy that I had to hold myself back from giving him more than 1 a day. He loves it more than some of the "treats" we give him when he's been good. I love it because I'm never sure he's getting enough nutrition from the dog food and the supplements (alfalfa, spirulina, etc) sound like the stuff we would want for ourselves but wouldn't know how much to give to our pets. Since this multivitamin is made by a vet AND a nutritionist and this brand was recommended by my vet (who is AMAZING), I feel completely at ease giving this to Lightning every day. He's always been energetic and that hasn't changed but I have noticed that his hair is shinier and he loves the taste. Highly recommended!

I was feeding my Corgi Science Diet Nature's Best and Merrick puppy food, but as he got closer to turning one I needed to get him on adult food. It's very important to me to feed him healthy food that has low grain content and a higher protein content. All of my dogs LOVE this product, however, with the recent recall and problems that have occurred with this product and others just like it (different brand names) I am sorry to say that my dogs started to get sick when they would eat these. I contacted my vet who insisted that

I stop giving my dogs these treats immediately. She stated that these, and others, were on a recall due to a chemical that was used in China. Yes, these are made in China and I did not know this until I received the product and after the vet brought it to my attention. If you can find this type of product, but NOT made in China, then it should be okay to give to you dog. I am still looking for one that is not made in China, because my dogs truly did love this product to have as a treat. Contact your vet before giving your dog any kind of treat like this. I am now giving my dogs a jerkey duck treat, and so far so good. None of them have gotten sick. I am sadden by all of the problems we are having with our dog food and dog treats coming from China. Now, when I shop, I DO NOT purchase anything made in China, only made in the USA.

As far as I can tell, these chicken jerky strips are a good, natural product. Even so, they do say clearly on the label that these are made in China, making them somewhat risky (because of the quiet jerky-poisoning cases of 2007). Another concern between Dec. 2008 and Feb. 2009, the costs of these went from about 11.00 to about 16.75 on amazon. At that price, it becomes both safer and more cost effective to just make jerky yourself from USDA grade chicken!
