My dog Ralph got very sick after eating the Castor and Pollux Peanut Butter Flavored Wheat Free Mix. Initially, I didn't know what made the dog so sick, and even after a $500 vet workup they couldn't say, but a week later, when he recovered I reintroduced that treat and the puking began immediately. I contacted the company, surprisingly their vet found nothing wrong with their treat and I was stuck with the bill. I will never purchase any Castor and Pollux treat again and will tell anyone who will listen the same, starting with the dog park crowd.

This stuff is fabulous. I have a real chewer, and she knows how to break up the cookies almost immediately by throwing the Kong against the walls and into the air. By spraying some paste on the inside walls of the Kong, she has to spend some extra time with it, keeping her busy longer! All 3 of our dogs love the various vitamin-enriched "tasty pastes" available from Kong. Although they loved to chew on their Kongs before, we found that they really got into it when we inserted some of the paste into the cavity. All of them go "nuts" when we put down the "pasty Kongs" for them to enjoy and enjoy them they do!

I would highly recommend all of Kong's "tasty pastes" it's easy to use, doesn't seem to make any mess, and is a great extra treat for dogs. Our 3 give it "2 paws up"!

WE loved this for our dog, at first. Unfortunately after a few uses, his abdomen became distended, he became flatulent (and very stanky, yes STANKY), and had loose stools. Not exactly something you want in a large dog. Peanut butter will be on our shopping list from now on; it's cheaper and works so much better.

Let's get one thing straight first: dogs love this stuff. I mean they REALLY LOVE IT. Not just my puppy, but every dog in my office the second this stuff comes out, my desk is surrounded by noses that smelled it from across the office. And they want it so bad they'll watch wistfully as my puppy devours it, just a little bit, from his Kong. When he's done, they get in line to steal the Kong and the lucky one will spend several minutes working on it just in case there's any left.

By the end of the afternoon, I am choking on the odor that rises at regular intervals from under my desk in nearly visible clouds of pure dog fart stench. By the time we get home, even the puppy will stop in his tracks every few minutes and startle at his own rear end, not entirely sure what's going on back there but knowing it's probably not good. By the end of the evening I am swearing to myself once again that tomorrow, no matter how desperate I am to occupy him and get some work done, I won't give this stuff to the puppy and turn him into a 6.5lb tactical nuke.

I think today was the last time he'll be getting it, and the rest of the can is going in the trash. It's just not worth it!

The hay seems fine to me. Haven't actually tried it, but the pigs chow down and always squeal with excitement when they get more. I'll leave it up to the rodent nutrition experts in the Amazon community to argue out the more technical aspects.

One warning: Be careful about which vendor you use when ordering. Amazon appears to pick one at random to feature at the top of this page and not all vendors are created equal. I noticed this the second time I ordered the hay and for two weeks the order status was "shipping soon". Finally wrote the vendor to see what was sup and they replied. "Oh, yeah. We don't have that in stock" (!!) Well then why was it listed as in-stock on Amazon? And why didn't they send an update? Stay away from: Rollstone Fulfillment.

One of the pet-oriented stores is probably a lot better. I've had good success with All Pet and a few others. Not trying to promote any particular one. But just be sure you click the "other sellers" link and find a company you're comfortable with. The default Amazon choice might be a bust.

Go to any Guinea Pig, Rabbit, or small animal forum and they will warn you about Kaytee hay and other Kaytee food products. Stick with Oxbow or pretty much any other brand.

I have been a Kaytee brand buyer when it comes to Timothy Hay, however the past 5 months have been very disappointing in its quality.

Guinea Pigs enjoy the "buds" that are usually very evident in this brand. Unfortunately the past year it seems that their quality has decreased dramatically. Where there used to be nice firm stalks with lots of buds, there are now hard sticks with thistle and very little buds. The thistle is what sticks to everything and is hard to get out of their bedding. Especially if you use fleece for your floor and bedding. It is very hard to clean because it sticks to it like velcro and then has to be picked out by hand before cleaning it.

I have purchased it from the local pet store, online (2 different companies) and from a large department store. All places provided the same quality hay from Kaytee. I will try Oxbow brand next.

I thought I would give this brand a try to see if they were really rolled rawhide. As soon as I saw the package I knew I had been duped ... two of them were two inches across with the ends folded over and the other two were an inch across. Out of the four pack two were rolled, solid, sheets of rawhide and the other two were rolls of rawhide with a `filling' of scraps with the ends folded over. These shards of scraps are very sharp ... like a large splinter of wood and would definitely cause problems if a dog swallowed them.

As you can see in my photos ... the two on the left are the scrap filled and the two on the right are the solid sheets. The scrap filled one on the left, that was briefly chewed by my dog, is hollow where it was filled with scraps of sharp shards of rawhide ... that I threw away as my dog pulled them out.

Unless I sit next to my border terrier every minute and grab the shards as she pulls them out she will try to swallow them. My lab WILL swallow them as soon as he thinks I'm going to take the shard away. These rawhide rolls are dangerous! They may be cheaper, but it's not worth the worry ... vet bill ... or death of my dogs.

Rawhide Brand ... why not just put what you advertise in the package and grind up the shards for the pressed rawhides? You are committing false advertising, and needlessly endangering pets with this product.

I am returning these and will go back to the high quality, although, expensive brands like Wholesome Hides.

My 1 year old pit bull loves his rawhide. I bought these and cut them in half so they cost under a dollar for each half. They lasted about 45 minutes which for my dog is a long time. He usually has 4 inch rawhides gone in less than 30 minutes. So if you are looking for long lasting rawhide this is it. Pleased with this product and this purchase.

Rawhide Brand Dog Bones are great! My Lab can chew up somes bones pretty quickly but thes last a couple of days and she loves them. They are a good dental workout for large dogs and I will purchase them in the future.

I was wrong, there's no "chip" to it, just tough jerky the size of a half-dollar. I had to fold the leathery stuff in half multiple times to tear it into 4 smaller pieces (like trying to tear a leather belt) and my 11 lb. shih tzu still had trouble chewing it and even choked on the last bit. ive tried several chicken jerky brands, most of which have caused my dog to choke when he chews it. primal treats are dry roasted and stay crunchy versus becoming soggy and chewy while being consumed. unfortunately the treats are rather expensive, but overall are worthwhile.

My history with this product:

My dog was very ill for 3 days: violent diarrhea and vomiting. Called vet after first day, they instructed me to keep him on a bland diet, and to bring him in if this persisted more than 3 days. Luckily, he got better and I didn't have to take him in. I thought, maybe it's just my dog and he has a sensitive stomach?

I went to the web to research the product and found others had experienced the same thing. So I wondered...why is this product still on the market? I contacted Purina, and after no luck with them (who claimed they never heard of any complaints), I contacted the FDA, which currently has this product under surveillance.

By the way, my dog is not a toy breed, he's a 20 lb. mutt. So say what you want to say about the latest 'not meant for toy breed' disclaimer on the package, he doesn't fall into that category.

Sure, some dogs can tolerate this treat, but why take a chance on your pet's health and life?

I have tried lots of treats for my dogs, but these are the only ones they never seem to tire of. Most treats they love then lose interest in pretty quickly. I am not sure why, but these simple treats, a soft dried apple with a piece of chicken wrapped around it, are their favorite. I have to order these on Subscribe and Save because they can't get enough of them.

Also, the treats claim to have glucosamine and chondroitin in them, which is good for hips and back of dogs who struggle with those problem areas. As the owner of 4 dachshunds, I am always worried about their backs. In fact, two of my dogs have really hurt their backs in the past. I don't know if it is these treats or something else, but we haven't had a back incident in a very long time. I like to think it is the treats, but I couldn't tell you for sure. Although I am immensely happy the back issues have subsided! Not to mention, the treats make me the favorite person in the house whenever they come out!

My 18-month old cockapoo loves these Dogswell Veggie Life Happy Hip treats more than any other treat I give to him. He gets all excited if he sees the package. When he's a good boy and I give him one, he trots off to another room to eat it (like he wants to savor this particular treat and not just gobble it down). The treats are chewy and not easy to gulp down, so it lasts a bit longer than most. I like that these are natural and good for his hips. Although he is young, I believe he should have the "healthy hip" treats before he gets old and his hips feel achy. I only wish each treat were a bit smaller (sometimes I cut them in half, but you need a sharp knife or kitchen scissors to do that).
