Since this was our first attempt at dog grooming, we found the dvd very helpful. The basics were good however a summer cut was not our thing. Not much was shown about the use of clipper combs for longer cuts, we had to take our cockapoos to a former groomer to find out why we were not getting the cut we wanted using the attached combs. The author answered our first e-mail question but our second question was never answered.

I was hoping this would be an informative dvd about how to cut my lively cockapoo a variety of ways, but this dvd was kind of a grim lecture done with a dog that must have been heavily sedated or frozen with fear. The thrill of grooming one's own dog ended up being as exciting as watching the corn grow. The groomer seems to be sincere, but needs somehow to jazz up her presentation, maybe using more than one dog, more action and less talk, a few shots taken outside with examples of different styles, a jazz band...anything to get us out of that bleak room and comatose puppy.

Where do I begin with the rating the Fiesta diet? For starters, it is junk food, feeding your rodents garbage may be healthier. Kaytee attempts to make their diet "nutritionally complete" by providing a pellet mixed in with all of the nuts. However, just like small children, most rodents eat the fattening nuts and corn (which holds little nutritional value) before eating the healthy pellet mixes.

If you have rats, guinea pigs, or other small animals, feed them Oxbow. I have fed my rat girls Oxbow for ages and it is much better for them. If you insist on buying Kaytee brand food, buy their forti-diet pellets. At least that isn't as fattening, though it is still not the highest quality of ingredients. Rats also do well on Harlan Tekland, yet it is very pricey and difficult to find in stores.

If people disagree with this harsh but true review, ask any local vet or true rat breeder. They will tell you that any of the Fiesta diets are terrible for any animal.

I ahve 4 picky rats and they will mostly pick and choose through the food I give them and just take what they like and leave the rest. I ahve found that with this food there is more eaten and less left for me to throw away because they won't eat it. This is a good food for rats and they like it.

I have a 7 year old Beagle who has suffered his whole life with severe seasonal skin allergies. Hot spots would start to develop in spring when things began to bloom and last until the end of fall/early winter when things start to die off and freeze over. My dog enjoyed this toy TOO much. It was fun until the outer cover was breached. It was apparently filled with rope scraps of a size EASILY ingested. Additionally, the outer cover unraveled into extremely LONG and apparently easily consumed sections. Long story short: this toy cost me $3K in surgery costs to remove ingested sections from her intestines and cost my dog extreme misery. It is a fine toy ONLY if enjoyed under CONSTANT monitoring (mine ate hers at night, so take it up in the evening if you purchase one). BTW: the toy only lasted one month before breach. We have had several tough soft stuffed toys that have lasted two years and are not yet breached. They were more expensive, but definitely worth the money. (I have two Golden Retrievers, for reference on the dog type. The impacted dog was 5 years old not a puppy.)

Purina One Beyond is the top-of-the line when it comes to Purina's dog food product lines and a great middle of the road dog food when you compare to the whole dog food market we usually alternate between the lamb and the chicken to give our dog variety. It is better than the bottom shelf varieties in terms of whole ingredients and less fillers. It is an affordable option if you want a pretty good, relatively healthful dog food without spending a fortune on designer dog foods.

As far as I can tell by comparing the ingredients in Purina One Beyond with lower tier dog foods (specifically I compared Purina One Beyond with Purina One SmartBlend Dog Chicken Rice, 8-Pounds), what sets this dog food apart is that they don't use as many corn and soybean fillers. I have also noticed that many of the cheaper products contain more animal meal (animal meal = crushed up carcass including the bone), and to compensate add "animal digest" to help your pet digest the food, whereas this product and more expensive products contain less animal meal and no animal digest. That suggests that the cheaper products may need this "animal digest" enzyme supplement in their food or else the food won't be very well digested by your pet (probably at least in part due to the animal meal and corn products). One anecdotal piece of evidence that supports the hypothesis that the lower tier dog foods are less easily digested is that once my husband accidentally bought a cheaper bag of dog food, also from Purina, and our dog was extremely gassy the entire time she was on it. A bit gross, but I point that out because it is certainly evidence that she was not digesting it very well.

Purina claims this product has no fillers, but I guess that depends on what you define as a "filler" brewer's rice, for example, is the second ingredient, ahead of barley which is in the title of the dog food, and has more nutrients. Brewer's rice is the little rice fragments that break off from when they mill rice to make white rice, and they separate out the pretty whole grains of rice from the broken pieces to make a prettier product for human consumption. From the little reading I've done it seems to me it has about the same amount of nutrition as regular white rice, which is less than brown rice, and certainly less than barley. However, I think it still may be better and more easily digestible than corn products.

Overall, great compromise for a relatively healthful dog food if you don't have the budget to spend a fortune feeding your dog! I am mostly comparing this product with cheaper products. On the higher end, there are definitely products that would be even more healthful for your dog but they come with a price tag attached! I have found this to be a great middle of the road option. Unfortunately this is the only particular Purina One Beyond product that is available for free shipping and subscriber discounts on Amazon at the time of this review. We will consider buying this from Amazon if they ever make the larger bags (which are cheaper per pound) subscriber and Amazon Prime eligible. Great option to get this through Amazon though if you don't live near a store that sells this at a reasonable price, or if you don't have room in your apartment to keep tons of dog food around at once.

First, pork bones should never be given to dogs. I would not have purchased these but, like a bad consumer, did not read the label and thought they were beef bones. That was MY bad. But the blame goes to this company who markets these pork bones. Both of my dogs (~40 lb. mutts) splintered these bones in a matter of minutes. The next day, there was blood in both of their poops and one of them stopped eating completely for three days. $438 dollars at my vet's office put me on the warpath. I went to my grocer who called the sales rep; she told him that it "rarely" happens that the bones splinter. I should have played the lottery that day because it happened twice in one day at my house. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THESE BONES!! Do not risk your dog's health for the flimsy assurances of a company that makes a lot of money off of something that is potentially very dangerous.

I received the book in the mail yesterday, the treat cutters are pretty nice and it has different sizes for different sized dogs. I have not made any of the treat/food recipes in the book yet but i looked through it and there's a lot of really nice looking treats with easy ingredients and instructions. I noticed one of them includes garlic powder ( i thought garlic was bad for dogs! ) but i just won't use garlic powder on the recipe asking for it. 4/5 stars because i have not cooked any of the recipes ,so i can't comment on their quality,even though they look delicious on the pictures inside the book.

I am so glad that I have found Taste of the Wild. This dog food is made by Diamond, which is a well know, good quality dog food. Taste fo the Wild is a grain free formula for all life stages. I've been trying for a year now to find a good quality dog food that won't break my bank. I tried Nutro Max, Nutro Ultra, Nature's Recipe, and even the highly claimed Canidea (which he did not do well on at all). I found Taste of the Wild (among other high quality foods) at a local feed store. I placed 5 different high quality dog foods down, and even his current dog food, to see which one he would go to first. He went to the Taste of the Wild first and went between this and another brand. What really got me was that my parents' very picky pomeranian went straight for this food, and ate it without wet food on it!

So I brought Taste of the Wild home and have been switching it, slowly, over. PLEASE make sure when you switch your pet's food you mix it slowly and gradually over time or else your pet may get an upset stomach.

Overall he's doing much better. His coat is shiner, he has more energy, and he gobbles up the food. Taste of the Wild costs about as much as some name brand foods at Petsmart and is a much better quality food. Email them and they will send you samples so you can have your dog try it.

We've been feeding Taste of the Wild (TOTW) to our puppy for 6 months. He is thriving on it. We have tried the Salmon and Lamb with tons of success but the Fowl was a little too high in protein for his young body and gave him some loose stool. While we haven't tried the Bison, I would assume that would be the case as well since they're similar in their guaranteed analysis. If you're shopping for a younger dog, I'd stick with the Lamb or Salmon formulas for now. All of the formulas are all life stage (ALS) foods so they can be fed from weaning puppy to senior pet. I can do nothing but sing this food's high praises. Not only does my dog LOVE this food, but it is affordable, grain-free, and has good ingredients. I have yet to buy this food on Amazon.... I just don't understand the extreme mark up on the Lamb formula ($58). It is available locally at many pet food stores and at Tractor Supply (on sale usually for $37.99, best price that I've seen!) If you're looking for a new food, this is one that you should definitely try.

My dog has alergies to some proteins (chicken and beef) and for the past year, I have been trying different brands of food with single proteins. During that time, I tried her on the TW Salmon, and she ate a bag or two and quit. I did notice, however, that when she was on the TW food, her stools were perfect and her coat was like velvet, so I was sorry she stopped eating it. Last month, I went into the pet store and was so happy to see this new single protein flavor from TW. We are on our 3rd bag of TW Lamb, and she loves it. Had her bloodwork done last week and the vet said it was beautiful. Thank you TW for a great product, and finally one that has a single protein. Exceptional noticeable results! Have used Taste of the Wild Lamb for 4 weeks. All six dogs(an Aussie, Standard Poodle, Minature Poodles, and Chinese Cresteds) have experienced improved teeth/gums, coat/skin, digestion, alertness and energy. Samantha, my Border Collie, can chew through a 'retriever' rawhide roll in 15 mins or less. Needless to say, finding toys for her has been a challenge. I found this product with the hope it would last more than a few days. Although she got the tennis ball inside out in less than 2 days, the clear outer ball lasted 11 months. A record! It quickly became her favorite as she could chew to her heart's content without destroying it.

I have a giant-breed dog who likes to chew and I thought, after reading other reviews, that this large chew would last her a good while. She certainly loved it. Even as big as she is, she had a hard time carrying it around, but it lasted no time. Within less than an hour she's disintegrated an entire head off one end of the femur and was sawing down on the rest of the bone.

Which is fine, I guess. Happy as can be.. but I've had much smaller bones last longer. And bought a whole box of hooves and had ONE last well over a week (the smell was even worse than these bones, though).

So, anyway. Yes, it's a hit.. but the duration is obviously going to depend on the size and determination of your dog (mine's a "soft mouth gripper" herding breed, btw.. not some wolf hound that likes to tear things to pieces for kicks and giggles..)

As for basic facts on the product itself (for those not familiar w/ chew bonesI wasn't until recently): They're greasy-feeling to the touch (you always have to wash your hands after touching them/getting them out of the wrapper for the dog); they smell pretty bad (fantastic to the dog, though); they've been smoked or something so there are baked-on flecks that are going to flake off all over your floors like crispy bits.. the dog will eat most of them, but you'll be sweeping/vacuuming behind him/her for quite some time and once the bone is finally broken down to bits, there will be shards (most often) and small round tiny bits that can be stepped on or hazards for small children (just be aware if you have them) and your vacuum that will have to be picked up by hand before vacuuming. Best for an outside treat (unless you have roaming neighborhood dogs that will steal them like I do.. she has to keep them inside and I just have to clean them up.. and a lot of the reasoning behind getting these things is to keep them from chewing inappropriate things IN the house). So they have their pro's (they WORK, they attract the dog's chewing attention very well) and cons (a freaking smelly mess).. I find it worth it but will find a different product (probably go back to hooves).

I opened this bone upon arrival and set it in front of my eight teacups. At first they all became skittish and began barking at the bone. I figured the reaction wasn't unreasonable since this bone is about three times the size of each of my babies. Then Pooberry took a snap at the bone, she has always been the aggressive one, and came away with some yummy flesh. The other seven looked at her, then to the bone, and pounced in a single flurried motion. For the next 10 minutes there was a writhing cuteness ball chomping and gnawing in frenzy. I poured a scotch and watched the maelstrom with affection. After the party died down and my little happy girls went their separate ways, I expected there would be something to clean up as I typically find with other products, but not this time. The floor was spotless.
