I have three dogs, and one dog is allergic to beef and chicken, so it is important to find a food for him that he can tolerate and that is low fat since he has also had pancreatitis in the past (he is a miniature schnauzer). My three dogs love this food and are doing very well on it. My biggest dog has fur that just glistens in the sun, and I credit this great food for making her look so good. We were buying prescription Kangaroo and Oats food from our Vet until a salmonella problem shut that company down. The Addiction Wild Kangaroo and Apple food is great. My big dog loves it and she doesn't have the upset stomach and belching as she did before. The best I've found on the market.And my very picky Australian Terrier loves it (well, with Australian roots it should not come as a surprise). The fat level is a little high for him, due to IBD he can't have more than 10% total dry matter fat content and this food has a minimum level of 8% and a maximum of 14%, so I mix it with a 6-10% fat food. He carefully picks out all of the other brand kibbles, puts them on the floor next to his bowl and eats the Kangaroo. So I have to ground up the other kibbles to a meal for him to eat it. Unfortunately the other food is not a novel protein, but this far he does good on this combination.
When he was only 7 months old he got a bad infection and developed IBD. He lost weight from 14.5 lbs to 10.5 lbs and his poop loose as water we thought we were going to loose him. After diagnosis he's now on steroids and is getting a well managed food:
A combination of 2oz Kangaroo and Apple, 2oz of other low-fat kibble, 1oz canned pumpkin and 1oz of Addiction Venison or Brushtail canned food together with a tablespoon of Metamucil powder to increase the fiber content. Total dry matter fat content between 7-13% fat depending on the batches, I figure it evens out to around 10% (got extremely good response from Addiction when I requested information on max fat levels in their food). Two servings of this per day comes out to 500 kcal per day.
A lot of work, I know, but it's worth it. A month later he's back to 14 lbs and is growing muscles and his stool is fine.I started my four year old shar pei on this food when California

this food she thrives! She is riddled with health problems; food
allergies, IBD, liver issues, skin issues, et cetera, et cetera.
She is stable and happy with the Addiction Kangaroo. Fine stools,
her hair hasn't fallen out, her ears are not infected. For
such a sick girl, she is healthy and happy. Well worth the expense
if your dog is a delicate flower.
