I bought this leash (not on amazon for more $$$) and am extremely disappointed. At first I thought it was better quality than other retractable leashes but within the first week the rubber 'comfort' coating began wearing away. A few days later the whole coating fell off. A week later and the leash won't retract. I've had this problem with retractable leashes in the past so I'm not entirely surprised, but before I was walking a 90lb. labrador who decided to chase a squirrel. This time around it broke on a 13lb. puppy without any sharp pulling. What a piece of garbage. Back to the store it goes.

This Dog lead is not very strong for a black lab puppy. She broke it on the first day. Not particularly pleased with result.

Bought two of these for my two 70 lb dogs. The first one broke within a couple of weeks. The cheap plastic part that holds the spring for the lock button broke so the leash would no longer retract. Replaced the plastic piece by drilling a hole through both sides where the plastic piece broke off and replaced it with a small bolt/nut. The second leash broke in the same spot a week later. Fixed that one the same way. Two days later, the spring inside the retractable wheel broke so the leash could no longer retract. These are junk!

This leash is high quality and a great deal for the price. My dogs are smaller and this leash is the right length and size for my dachshund and rat terrier.
