My dogs (2 Dachshunds, a Chihuahua and a French Bulldog) love these Cardinal Laboratories Pet Botanics Training Rewards bacon and brown rice flavor, and their size in conjunction with their consistency (neither too moist, nor crumbly) makes them ideal for keeping in your pockets so that they are readily accessible when training your dog.
They are MADE IN THE USA, have only half a calorie per treat, and contain neither soy, corn, nor BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin (artificial preservatives).
The primary ingredient is Pork Liver (bacon is 5th on the list see below). Pork Liver is a nutrient-rich organ which provides your dog with protein, fat and vitamin A. It is also a good source of copper, iron, niacin, phosphorus and zinc. It provides many B vitamins, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and essential amino acids. Liver is of great benefit to your dog's health when offered in moderation (too much can lead to a condition called hypervitaminosis A, or an overdose of vitamin A). These little treats are a great way to add the benefits of liver to your dog's diet.
They are also great for crate training, too. Just give them to your dog through the crate door as soon as you put them in and eventually they will associate something good with being crated. Soon enough you can just toss 2 or 3 in the crate when you need to crate them and they will happily go right in. My dogs have their own room that their crates are in. When I open the door to their room they run and get in the crates sometimes quicker than I can put their training rewards in.
INGREDIENTS: Pork Liver, Barley Flour, Potato Flour, Sucrose, Bacon, Potato Starch, Glycerine, Wheat Bran, Gelatin, Rice Flour, Flax Seed, Salt, Natural Smoke Flavor, Garlic Powder, Potassium Sorbate, Mustard, Iron Oxide (for color), Citric Acid, Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary

Picked it up at petsmart for my new puppy And 6 yr old german shorthairs(the 6 yr old is rescued, we suspect they abused him but were not sure and they tried to make him hunt and tried to hard) ,btwcant teach a old dog new tricksit's a lie I have trained them to come to ranger ( puppy's name) come and two short whistle blasts and Chester ( 6 yr old) come and 2 short whistle blasts and they each come if I want them both its dogs come 2 short whistle blasts, the puppy points a little bit and I'm working on it with the 6 yr old, they hunt better in pairs, I hear, in order for them to hunt on this little of training, you have to have an excellent relation ship with them and i plan on taking them this upcoming quail/pheasant season with my dadso excitedhight highly recommended hunting dogs they LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!Apparently the company has changed the product and the packaging. The product I received has 1 1/2 calories per treat and the previous packaging. The product pictured notes 1/2 calorie per treat. . . . not a big deal unless you realize that for a small dog, that means he/she can have three treats with 1/2 calorie or one treat with 1 1/2 calorie each. Be sure you purchase the package you want. (My local pet store is still stocking the older package with 1 1/2 calorie per treat.)Want Cardinal Laboratories Botanic Training Rewards Mini Treats Small Dogs, Bacon, 4-Ounce Discount?
I needed to keep the weight down on my dog, so I was looking for a lower Calorie treat and came across these. Now I can train and not worry much about how many Calories I'm feeding my dog. She loves them and runs when she hears the velcro of my treat bag. They are high enough reward for her that she will learn tricks fairly quickly. Overall, I'd recommend them, particularly if you want your dog to be a healthy weight but still have fun with training.
