My dogs (2 Dachshunds, a Chihuahua and French Bulldog) LOVE RedBarn Lamb and Rice Dog Food Roll. And I love feeding it to them and here's why:

1) It is MADE IN THE USA and contains NO corn, soy, or wheat which dogs can have or develop allergies to.

2) It is cooked in the casing for less nutrient loss and specially prepared and packaged without oxygen so that it will remain fresh at room temperature without the use of artificial preservatives such as BHA, BHT or Ethoxyquin.

3) It is 93% digestible which means less dog poo and fewer cleanups.

4) It is a complete and balanced meal, but it can also serve as a protein supplement when mixed with dry food.

5) When cut in cubes, they make wonderful treats and training aids (yes, dogs find them that yummy).

6) In a pinch (when I am out of Greenies pill pockets) a cubed piece can even be used to hide pet medications.

Once you have sliced open the roll, you must seal and refrigerate the unused portion. I usually cut the entire roll into 1" slices and then cube the slices. A cubed roll fits perfectly in a Rubbermaid 10 cup container for storage in the refrigerator.

I discovered this alternative to Natural Balance rolls. I use them to supplement my dog's kibble. She gets a small slice cut into bits stirred into her kibble. She likes all the flavors. I am very pleased with this product. And my dog and her friends at the dog park love them.

I had been feeding my dogs Natural Balance dry food and roll food for many years, but I recently noticed a review of Natural Balance when I went to buy another of their roll products. A gentleman pointed out that Natural Balance had changed the ingredients in their roll products. I checked the label on the roll I had purchased recently and he was right. Natural Balance had at some point started to use cheaper parts of the animal products they use in their rolls and to add sugar.

Red Barn has higher grade meat products in their rolls and no added sugar. I've switched to Red Barn roll food.It's too bad that NB decided to go the cheap route on their roll food, especially since they didn't lower the retail price to consumers. Be sure to read the ingredients on products even if you've used them before.

The Red Barn Lamb roll is one of my german shepherd's favorite varieties of the meat roll "family" of products. I really do trust the brand name because I have been using this brand for many many years with different breeds of dogs.
