Initially, I bought this to tuck into my pup's backpack for trips to our local dog park. Our park is outside city limits, so no doggy water fountains or water spigots. After a romp in the park on a particulary hot day, I put both dogs in the back of my Honda CR-V with the bowl filled with water. Then I ran up front to start the car and run the AC.
At some point it occured to me this little bowl was just a bit wider at the bottom, with a slightly more narrow opening. It's bottom heavy, it probably won't tip over if I start toward home. We rode through small towns with stop lights, around hair pin turns and over steep hills; and sure enough, it didn't tip over. At least a thousand miles in rides to the park later, it still hasn't tipped over. Running the ac can't cool off the entire car on 90 degree days, having the ability to put water in the back for my dogs really opens up the range of our travels. Anymore, going anywhere without our Kyjen bowl and a gallon of ice water just seems uncivilized!

This is great for travelling. Some reviewers misunderstood the purpose of the collapsing bowl. It's for TEMPORARY watering of your pets...not for holding water all day long. Put water in it on stops with the dog, let dog drink what it will, dump out excess water, collapse and put away bowl, and travel along again. Repeat at next watering stop. If you want something that holds water ALL DAY, then get the solid bowls that don't collapse. It's really that simple, folks...really.Buy Kyjen Outward Hound Port-a-Bowl Now
This is a very well made, light-weight product that conveniently folds up for travel. As a bonus, it's much less expensive than similar bowls that I've seen in local stores. Initially, I was concerned that the 48 ounce size would be too big, but it isn't. I'll mainly be using this item for water when my dog and I are out on trips.Read Best Reviews of Kyjen Outward Hound Port-a-Bowl Here
Big enough for my coonhound to get her nose in. Left water in it for over an hour without any leak through. Easy to dry off and store.Want Kyjen Outward Hound Port-a-Bowl Discount?
I had been looking for a portable water bowl for our pup for quite a while, and was really pleased to find the Kyjen Outward Hound bowl it really seemed to fit the bill perfectly! I would like to thank Boycottboring for sending me a sample to review.QUALITY/DESIGN
First of all, as with all the Outward Hound products, I would like to mention that this bowl is made very well. Not only is it leak-proof (as expected) but it is made of the same durable material that you might find on a hiking backpack. The bottom has an extra layer of durable nylon (I believe it is) which really will reduce potential wear as your dog pushes it around with his or her nose. For our 25lb whippet, it really is the perfect size it holds enough water to have plenty left over and isn't so deep that she won't stick her nose in it! With a quick wash in the sink it is easily cleaned and can be placed on a drying rack to air-dry. By being slightly wider at the bottom, it is pretty stable when in use.
FUNCTIONALITY
Due to it being made of fabric, the port-a-bowl is easily stored in a backpack or even a jacket pocket. The last portable bowls we used were made of silicone, and while they were good, they did take up more space than we wanted and weren't as convenient. The bowl also has a loop on it so it is easily clipped somewhere if desired.
OVERALL
This really is the perfect portable dog bowl, and will work for most dogs. It may not be the best solution for shorter pups, but for us it has become a staple in our family excursion. For a durable and functional design, I give it five stars and highly recommend giving it a try!
