I use these as treats for my Pappilon now & my Shelties in the past. I cut each ear into strips with a big ole' shears/cutter-leaving a bigger piece at the bottom of the ear where I'm not strong enough to get through. They chew on them as if it's rawhide, but it's easier for them to get through it than actual rawhide, so they actually chew them!
My vet exclaims at each visit how great the teeth look on my dogs. They're always white & clean-I've never had to have any of my dogs' teeth cleanedwhich involves putting them to sleep for it so involves some risk. Shelties are apparently known for bad teeth and both of my Shelties had clean white teeth until the day they reached the end of normal life spans.
Of course, if you're bored, you can also give a whole ear to a tiny dog and laugh your head off as you watch them attempt to chew on it!!!
They're like 80%+ protein, like 4% fatno preservatives, easily digestible-so very healthy treats & not fattening, and very very good for keeping teeth in great shape-and with all this my dogs actually love them.
The only drawback is that they tend to cling to things & you can easily walk out of the house with a strip of cow each hanging from your pants! Somehow in bed they also seem to all migrate underneath your body so they bug the heck out of you.I ordered the Beefeaters ears because they looked very similar to what we were buying at Chuck & Don's. Since they were no longer available, we were looking for an alternative. In the photos, you see basted, brown ears, but in reality they were white with no flavoring/basting as it looks like in the photo. My dogs still chew on them from time to time, but not as voraciously as they did with the others I had been able to get. Beefeaters should update their photo to look like their actual product. It is misleading.
