I HAD PREVIOUSLY ORDERED ONE OF THESE BOWLS AND IT WORKED GREAT. SO I ORDERED 2 MORE FOR MY OTHER 2 DOGS. NEVER HAVE TO BEAT ICE BLOCKS OUT OF BOWLS ON THOSE COLD COLD MORNINGS AGAIN. THEY HAVE SOME TYPE OF THERMOSTAT TO CONTROL ON & OFF SO YOU DON'T USE POWER WHEN ABOVE FREEZING.EACH HOLDS A GOOD GALLON.I HAVE SEEN ICE FORM AROUND RIM, BUT THERE WAS PLENTY OF UN-FROZEN WATER FOR MY PET TO DRINK.

Used this product last winter. Held up well, heavy duty bowl with protected heavy cord. My blue heeler never offered to chew the bowl and her water was kept un-frozen even through several single digit nights. Would recommend for all dogs that have to stay out in low temps. Just be sure you give them shelter to go with the water please...

The bowl never keep water completely liquid during really cold spells, (in the single digits) but certainly enough of the huge capacity was ample to supply water to a large dog. However, this is the 3rd season using it and apparently the last; the water was completely frozen over the morning after I plugged it in for the first time... temp got to only about 28 degrees. Debating getting a new one or not. Not sure the price warrants only 2 years of service.

I use it for the wild birds when weather is freezing. I wish it were a little heavier construction easy to spill when carrying with water in it. I also would like a much longer cord. It works as advertised.
