We tried probably five different brands without any success until we tried this one. It appears that different brands/formulas could work fine for one dog but not another even though the ingredients seem to be the same. The first five brands did absolutely nothing with our female German Shepherd and the burn spots were destroying our lawn. After several months of trying one then moving on to another we finally purchased this one as a last attempt. After using this product for several days we caught our dog using the neighbor's lush green lawn and we panicked. We waited until the next morning to see if we needed to apologize or repair or make amends in some way, but the grass was as green as the day before without a sign of her being there. Put your dogs on the tablets for two weeks. Then re-seed the yellow spots and be sure to keep watered. New grass grows in and doesn't turn yellow. No, it won't bring dead yellow grass back to life.

Be very careful when using this product, it gave our pup a bladder infection and she started having accidents while laying down. Once we removed this from her diet she healed and has not had an accident since. So it could work for you, but it could also cause unnecessary harm to your pet. Look into preventative maintenance for your lawn before you put your pets health at risk like we did.

People do have to be very careful with what kind of medications they give their pet, even if the medicine is something as seemingly innocuous as lawn protector tablets. My mom had a little bichon frise who she used to give these tablets to. After a while the dog developed urinary problems and required surgery. The poor thing's bladder was consumed by ulcers and scarring. Unfortunately, at the time we had no idea what was causing the problem, because she was also giving the tablets to her Border collie, with no ill effects. Sad to say, that after long term use of the tablets (note that the recommended dose/ weight was being used), the bichon's bladder ended up rupturing and he died. Mom bought another bichon soon after. In two weeks he started to show the same weird symptoms and after taking him to the vet it was determined that it was these lawn guard tablets that were the cause. The new pup is off the tablets and doing fine. Maybe it is the size of the dog or the breed that makes the difference? I'm not sure because the tablets worked fine when we were giving them to the collie and she never had a problem with them. I just wish that we found out about this sooner, before it cost us one of our pets.

My 6 month old GSD female has done a number on the grass at my current rental. I have used Green Grass tablets for 2.5 weeks now and as far as I can tell, there are no new burn marks on the grass. I have seen no side effects with her either. Her coat is still shiny and her breath is still just as dogish as before.

UPDATE: 1/13/11

My dogs hair started falling out shortly after writing the above review. You couldn't touch her with out an handful of hair coming out on your hands! If it was July or August I wouldn't have been concerned but this was December! She also developed a huge sty on her right eye and she lost her eye lashes! I stopped this product immediately and within a week she stopped shedding and the sty was gone. Her eyelashes are starting to come back in.
