My dog had to go to the vet this afternoon because he swallowed the last little bit of this treat. Some of it is lodged in his esophagus and will not move. He may have to have surgery tomorrow.

Our three dogs love these chews, which we alternate with Sam's Yams Big Boyz Sweet Potato Dog Treats, 1-Pound Bag. A daily dose of these chew treats seems to minimize the tartar buildup. We feed the medium size to two of our dogs (50-55lbs), who make pretty short work of them. This large size we give to our bigger Aussie/Chow mix (65lbs), who relishes hers for 10 minutes or so before it's gone. (Update: We've started giving the large size to both of our larger dogs, and the medium to just our smaller border collie). We appreciate the all veg, highly digestible ingredients and great chewing action (they're good and chewy, but not hard enough a dog might break a tooth on them), and the fact they're made in Holland, while our dogs seem to appreciate the flavor and gum-massaging action. Be sure to have plenty of fresh water available for your dog, as ours always enjoy a good long drink after finishing their chew treats.
The previous reviewer was disappointed in the size of these, and we had trouble ourselves knowing which size to order. The sizing given here, which misled the other reviewer, is the size of the PACKAGING, not the product. We'd originally found these sold individually in a local feed store at a higher price and gave them to our dogs to make sure they liked them before buying them in bulk from Amazon, but even after visiting the manufacturer's web site we had a hard time figuring out which size we'd bought. These Paragon LARGE-sized Star Toothbrushes measure 5 1/2" long, and are 1 1/2" wide at their widest point (the handle). The medium size is 4" long, 1 1/8" wide at their widest. I hope that's helpful.

I know my hounds would have loved these, but they were destroyed by Aus customs, even though they are 100% pure veggies, Its difficult to recommend these due to that. If you can get them in good luck, they are a great product.

My doodle loves these treats and usually won't bother with anything but ears. I bought them because a co-worker swears by their ability to reduce dental decay and dental visits. We'll see about the latter, but they apparently taste pretty good.The large really are large. He's 65 pounds and I'm glad I didn't order the extra large for him.
