The original Himalayan Dog Chews aka"cheese bones" have long been super popular with my dogs and my extended family's dogs as well. When I saw this seasoning, there was no doubt we had to try it. I was actually really excited, and it wasn't even for me!

No surprise: they love it.

The seasoning is made of the same ingredients as the chews: yak and cow's milk, salt, and lime juice. That's it! No preservatives, no fillers, just 3 natural ingredients.

The seasoning is actually powdered Himalayan dog chews. I first expected it to be coarse, like salt, especially considering how rock-hard cheese bones are. I am amazed at how fine the powder is.

Since it's a powder, a delicate dusting over dry food will flavor every bite. The value is amazing, because it takes so little to season the food, and a jar will last a good long time, even in multi-dog households.

The lid is like that of any average seasoning, all one piece, divided in two flip-open caps. Flip open one, and you find the sprinkling side, the kind with many holes. Flip open the other, and it's just a wide open mouth, for heavier doses. Or you can unscrew the lid and use a scoop if you want to accurately measure any amount.

The lid is very high quality, and the flip-caps shut tight. I fear any moisture getting in there would definitely be a problem, but it's not an issue.

To season your dog's food, you just sprinkle it over like you would your own food. You want to give a good, even dusting that gets on every bit of kibble. Alternatively, you can add a scoop, or a strong dash from the big opening side of the lid, and then stir it into the kibble to season it well.

On really cold nights I sometimes make a "stew" for a special treat. I add some very hot water to dry food, stir it up, add a hefty dash of seasoning, mix that in, then finish with a sprinkle on top and serve it warm. It's mushy-crunchy and both girls love it.

Most importantly, my picky eater, a dachshund, will now immediately start eating once I've seasoned her food! This is a dog who used to strike for days, no matter what kind of food or brand we tried. It's Himalayan magic!

Another reviewer expressed hand-wringing, red-flag-waiving concern over where the product is from. The label says it is packaged in the USA, then directs you to their website for questions, comments, FAQs, and more information. If you visit the company's website, [[ himalayandogchew ]], you'll find a TON of information, including a really cool, detailed, illustrated description of how and WHERE Himalayan dog chews are made, down to which percentage of the process is done where.

The company is straightforward about their sources and manufacturing process: a portion is done in Nepal and eastern India, in the Himalayan mountains, and the rest in the U.S. They also describe how the yaks and cows the milk for the cheese comes from are cared for. I've never seen a pet product company share this much information!

The company employs small co-op farms in the Himalayas, where they make the hard cheese that's been a traditional part of the regional culture for centuries. Their ingredients are Fair Trade. I am more than just very happy with the products; I am also proud to support this company.

My dog loves this sprinkled on his kibble. A safer and much more 'doggie friendly' cheese than supermarket brands. Very hard to find in dog food stores, lifesaver to find a reliable resource online.

My cane corso isn't an eater. Funny, huh? He's a freakin' cane corso and he is indifferent about food unless its meat or cheese. He should be at 95-100 right now but he's topped out at 88. I put this in his food today and he ate an entire bowl! I am so happy!!!
