I have always used hay for my winter white dwarf hamsters. They can take it or leave it (mostly leave it). Usually they would use it to pee in. That was NOT why I buy it. When I got this bag (which is HUGE btw) I put a handful in, suddenly they went NUTS. The babies, mom and dad were swarming over it like vultures on a carcass. I was surprised. Will be buying more of this. And the price for such a HUGE bag is great.
