My pit can entertain himself for hours with a chew toy but few toys survive more than a week. Ordered one of the "ultra" toys back in February and four months later, it's still intact. If you have a aggressive chewer who's torn up every other toy, these (admittedly rather goofy looking) chews are the way go.

The doggie destructors! Who could tear apart a toy in no time, may have met their match. During supervised playtime the toy has withstood the Labs torture. Time will tell, but so far so good...

8/2008 Update!

9 months later and the Giant Doggie terrorists have yet to do damage to these toys. I am amazed.

Give your dog kongs instead of real bones!! Real bones are dangerous for dogs! We almost lost our Saint Bernard in a choking incident with a raw beef bone when he was able to bite off a piece that was too big to swallow. Since then, we have replaced his nightly raw bone ritual with a kong frozen with canned dog food, leftover meat, cream cheese, and other stuff. Cream cheese on the walls of the kong seem to keep him the busiest.

So far, so good the Saint who was able to bite off a piece of raw beef bone has not been able to break the black kong. The black extreme does seem a little stronger than the red one because we have one of each and the red has more teeth punctures than the black, although the red one has not been broken yet either.

Also, this supplier had an excellent price and the kongs arrived very quickly for reasonable shipping.

I have a dog that is capable of destroying anything and everything that can be chewed on, rammed with his fat block head, or drug across any open space. With jaws that rival a car crusher, it can make it hard to find a suitable toy that can not only put up with his waves of destruction, but he will enjoy as well.

This is by no short stretch my dog's #1 possession. He LOVES his Kong with a passion only rivaled by pizza and belly rubs! And it can take all the punishment he can dish out. It does need replacing but usually around the 1 year mark instead of many toys, only lasting a day or, at best, a week. He plays catch with it, tug of war with it, and just chews for hours on this poor little chew thing.

Brutus is an American Staffordshire Terrier, or pit bull type, so he is a very strong chewer. If you have a pit type or other breed that is a power chewer, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the black Kong's!
