I travel with my maltese mix dog ALL the time and this carrier is perfect. My pup weighs about 17 lbs so he gets rather heavy when lugging him thru the airport. The open window at the top is awesome because I can undo it and he can look out I usually push him forward (so I can see him in front of me) he loves seeing everything. The mesh panels are great because he can see out of all sides and he gets enough fresh air. There are also pockets on the sides for his paperwork, treats and anything else. I had to write a review because I purchase on Amazon based on reviews and wanted to share this great product with others. The bag fits perfectly under the first class seats on Airtran (not sure exact sizes) there is a panel at the bottom of the carrier I didn't understand why it is removable until I got on plane ..when you remove this bottom panel and then turn bag on side to slide under the seat the carrier is able to slide under seat in front of you ..if panel didn't remove it would be about an inch too large to go under seats ...They have just thought of everything for this carrier. I fly with my dog at least 14 round trip flights a year so I really put these to the test.

I absolutely love this carrier. Initially I was concerned about the safety of the carrier, especially how secure the side supports were and whether or not an animal could be crushed while inside. However, the carrier comes with insert rods that help it hold its form and also keeps it from closing in on the animal. I use the roller function and also the book bag option and have had no issues with either. I love the side pockets which I use to store treats, wet wipes, and other things we need on our "adventures" outside the house. The open mesh design on the front allows for better visibility between me and my cat and easily unzips if the need to give treats or comfort arises...don't worry about your pet being able to escape through it though because it is made of a pretty sturdy material. I get compliments on the carrier every time I use it. My kitten is still young and weighs around 3 pounds but this is definitely a carrier she could grow into. I'm not sure how it would be for larger, stronger animals but it works perfectly fine as a cat carrier. I am going to order another one in a different color soon!

This was not as sturdy as I thought it would be. The shape is held together by a couple of springy wires you slide into little fabric loops inside on each side and a plastic base with legs that attaches at the bottom with two screws. The screws didn't line up with the holes so I could only get one in. Luckily, I could still use it that way. It is too big to be guaranteed to fit under an airplane seat (depends on the plane). I needed I right away for a road trip and it was ok for that, otherwise I would have sent it back.

The item states that a 20 pound dog or cat will be comfortable..........Wrong!!! My cat weighs around 12 pounds and got squished. The item came with no directions. The screws and the holes did not line up. I have no clue what to do with one of the parts.

There are hard bars going through the back of the carrier. When you are pulling,pushing or tilting the carrier the poor animal is forced to lean against them. Not enough insulation between the bars and the interior of the carrier. When it stands upright as seen in the photo its okay.

Why would anyone take a cat for a walk???? Once a cat has lived in a big house, with a yard and lots of stairs to climb the cat goes nuts.when its owner has to down-size and move into an apartment. I thought taking my cat for a walk would help with his depression. Now he gets depressed j looking at the carrier. Me too!

Its an okay solution for now. Will look at other options.
