We bought a cheaper similar bird cage for our hermit crab. We live in South Florida and left this cage out back one afternoon. The crab ran away because someone left the door open. We found him TWO MONTHS LATER. His shell had a big hole in it, but the crab was healthier than when we bought it!!?? I had given the smaller cage away. We bought this one with prime & it arrived in 2 days. We got rid of the bottom and sunk it in the ground out back with a sand floor. The crab loves it. Nice and tall and he is outside where he wants to be. My husband thinks there's enough room in there for birds, too.
