My sheltie is on a limited ingredient diet, and she gets these as a treat. It really helps that she can have something she finds special to go along with the regular food she must have.

I just got these and holy cow (holy duck?) does my dog love these! He went crazy for them! They're not like what you would think of as a typical jerky--a bit more crunchy, but softer than Nature's Balance Dog Treats.I put my 8-pound terrier mix on Nature's Balance LID (small breed) duck and potato food a few months ago to see if it would help his itching, and it worked! After a month on this food his itching has stopped and, as an added bonus, the dark tear stains under his eyes have completely cleared up--no more tear stains, which I guess were also an allergic reaction. Additionally, my dog is very picky about his food, but he loves this stuff!
I mix the dry and wet LID duck and potato food, and have also added in the LID duck and potato treats. When I saw the jerky, I decided to also try that and it's a winner. It will be his new treat of choice!

My puppy has a sensitive stomach. After several trips to the vet to check for parasites and bacterial infections (she has none), we decided that perhaps a diet change was in order. I wanted to stay away from chicken and grains because she seems unable to properly digest those. So, I figured a limited ingredient diet would be a good way to go. I'm also starting her on the duck and potato kibble from the same manufacturer (will review in a few weeks when she's been fully transitioned).First off, and probably most importantly for a dog treat, does the dog like these? And the answer is a resounding yes.
Secondly, the list of ingredients is pretty short and doesn't contain a lot of artificial stuff and/or filler. (Mixed tocopherols are the preservative, but tocopherols are simply compounds with vitamin E -antioxidant -activity. There's also a rosemary extract that may have some natural preservative activity.)
Texture-wise, these are somewhere between a soft treat (not as soft) and a freeze-dried treat (not as crumbly). They don't have a strong odor. They're somewhat long strips, and since they're a little expensive, I just break off a chunk that's about one inch long. The dog's just as excited as if I gave her a whole one, and it makes the bag last longer. Smaller pieces are also useful if you're looking to control calories.
All-in-all, I feel pretty good about these treats and intend to continue feeding them to my dog.
