These are Arctic dried catfish skins. When I took them out of the shipping box, although I couldn't smell anything, all at once my three dogs were clustered around me. They wouldn't leave. Because the skins are quite large length wise and my dogs are small, the skins have to be cut. not broken, not cut with scissors, but cut with a sharp knife. Although there is a smaller size, the "tall' ones are more economical. And the "kids" LOVE them. It takes a while for them to eat these skins too, because they are really tough. We keep the opened box in the refrigerator in our garage. A little too smelly for in a cabinet. But the dogs adore them. These are something they'd never turn down.

I have two dogs one with severe allergies who only tolerates fish protein. I purchased these chews so she could have some treats as she can't have Greenies anymore. Well, the dog I bought the treats for isn't fond of them (hence one star off), but my other dog adores them! I love that they are just one ingredient and made in the USA. The only thing I'd like to know is where the fish is processed (research tells me that even companies that buy US-caught/raised fish send it to China for processing, where chemicals are added. I haven't received an answer from Honest Kitchen about their processing practices). I'm hoping they process in North America. After posting my review, I received a reply to my inquiry of Honest Kitchen regarding where their fish products are processed. This is the message I received from Kat in customer service:
Our fish is processed in Iceland and sent directly to us for our use. It does not pass through China and we do not use Sodium Tripolyphsphate. The fish is simply dehydrated, without the use of chemicals of any kind. This is a great treat for dogs so pure and without all of those by products normally found in dog treats. I cut them in half for my two smallest dogs and leave them as is for my slightly larger one. There is definitely a fishy smell, but for a healthy treat I'll tolerate it!Read Best Reviews of The Honest Kitchen Beams Catfish Skin Chew Dog Treat, Small Here
I stumbled upon these at a new dog store I had been meaning to stop in and visit.I have a Newfoundland and try to stay with a fish diet because of her breed's history and genetics. My dog knows what the Beams box looks like and will stand on her hind legs to get them on the counter after her morning meal. She really likes the thick sticks.
I have starting using other Honest Kitchen products, and my Newf seems very excited to eat them. I feel better knowing that I am feeding my dog "clean" products and also knowing that she is really enjoying her fish chew!

I have the nobbiest dog I know. She generally is all about dried bananas, dried apples (sometimes) and chicken jerky. The only dog food she will eat is the dehydrated food from THK, so when I found out they also had treats, I figured I've wasted more money than this on a treat she hated. She LOVES these. I cut the beams in half and she chews on them for quite a while. I think I might have been more excited than she was, because she rarely chews on anything. Hard treats are not for her. I'll totally buy these again. The only downside is the fish breath in your face when they give you kisses for the yummy snack :)
