I'm crossing my fingers that my shihtzu tolerates this food and thrives on it. I've done hours and hours of research. She has allergies on top of being a very picky eater. She just doesn't care for kibble, personally I don't blame her. But after researching and finding so many great things about this food I brought it home and tried it out. She ate all of it and was searching for more. I was thrilled. I will post again later and update. This is a grain free all natural dog kibble. Made by the company that makes Orejin, this line has less protein then Orijen. I highly recommend this for any dog. Just make sure when switching it's done slowly. Adding some fresh pumpkin, or frozen green beans thawed, can help with the digestion during the switching proccess. Acana gets a 5 star rating on dogfoodadvisor.com.

We have been having some allergy issues with our furbaby and thought it might be gluten related. We still aren't sure if this fixed the possible gluten issue, as this will take some time, but we are sure that both our dogs LOVE this! They don't seem to eat as much (we free-range them) so the price isn't as bad as it might at first seem.

The various grain-free Acana foods make up a good portion of my two keeshonden's diets. I've done a good bit of research on dog food after the scare from the Chinese additive fiasco several years ago. Acana is highly rated by several dog food research sites. One of them even has Acana rated at the top. My dogs like all the Acana varieties. This is one brand of food I rotate for them. Others include Fromm grain-free and Canidae grain-free.

I believe Acana is a good quality food which is the reason I recently switched my dogs and cat to it but the Grassland flavor is by far the least favorite...well I shouldn't even say favorite. They seem to dislike it completely. They do not touch their food all day until they realize they are not going to get anything else and then they will only eat enough to stop the hunger pain it seems. I feel bad for them. I will not be buying this flavor again. They seem to like the Pacifica though. Grassland also seemed to cause one of them to have allergic reactions. Oh, for those who are brand snobs, please don't waste your time commenting on my review if its just negative because "the dog food is still good quality". If my dogs don't like it, it's not getting a good review just because it's a good quality food.

We are using the fish version Pacifica and it is truly wonderful. However, I'm trying to find another flavor to use in addition to Pacifica. The reason we started using Pacifica is because one of our dogs is allergic to chicken. I thought this version, Grasslands, was the answer, and almost hit the buy button, until I noticed the disclaimer about ingredients on Amazon.com. I"m glad it is there stating that perhaps not all ingredients are listed and to check their website for complete lists. So I just checked the Acana website: (...) and found out that one ingredient in Grasslands -missing from the Amazon description is Chicken Fat.

Although this company makes fine dog food, please check the ingredients on their website before purchasing, if your dog has food allergies. The most frequently diagnosed allergen for dogs is chicken. Unfortunately, this is an ingredient in 99% of most dog foods, including the fine brands, such as Acana.

I would normally rate this pet food company an almost perfect score, but I went with 3 stars instead because of the crucial missing ingredients in the description.
