I purchased this toy at petsmart and was a little skeptical regarding it at the time of purchase. I was concerned that my cats would break it but when I gave it to the (supervised) I didn't even let them hold onto it that long.
My cats had never had a toy like this before (they both have food-dispensing balls) but nothing they can sink their teeth into. Immediately they tried to get the salmon stuffn' and treats inside the kong by just going through it. My larger cat (DSH, 9.5lbs) bent the kong and stuffed it in his mouth. I was legitimately concerned that he would choke on it, so I took it away from him. My smaller cat (tonk, 5.5lbs) just tried to take chunks out of the plastic since when she put her paw on it to stabilize the toy, it just squished and made getting the treats impossible.
Anyway, I contacted KONG regarding this product and they sent me a sturdier version made of the red rubber stuff like the dog kongs, only in a teeny tiny cat size (smaller than the smallest dog size). My cats love the new hard rubber kong but I'm pretty sure it isn't available for retail sale yet. But when it is get that, not this one!

PLEASE, SUPERVISE ANY PLAY WITH THIS TOY. If your cat likes to chew like my cat does, then you best not leave your cat alone with this Kitty Kong. This particular "pictured" Kitty Kong is of even less sturdy purple rubber than the one I have in pieces in a baggie. Here is Sylvie's and my story. One day as I went to work, she licked her chops when left her with her purple rubber kitty kong. Though I washed it under hot water with soap and water regularly, she was mesmerized. When I returned home, part of the kong was missing. Turns out, she ate the smallest section or the top section leaving behind the two snowman-like fatter rounds. Much later, I learned that the smallest round was eaten in four pieces.
Almost four months later, the larger two pieces were thrown-up during an 18 hour long vomiting session. After taking her for an $385 I.V. drip and x-rays, I saw my investment spew out all over my floor and I found the third piece. Observing that the Kong three pieces didn't add up to the small round, knowing she rejected fresh TUNA as well, I told the surgeon to go ahead with surgery. Did you know that X-rays don't reveal anything about rubber toys in a cat's belly? Luckily, the surgeon found the fourth and smallest piece -only another $1100 later. It was lodged in her 9 LB kitty's small intestine. However, there was another complication, as my Sylvie was being shaved for surgery, she aspirated her vomit. Over the third day and taking her to an additional 24-hour care location, this place threatened not to give her the care she needed unless I paid them 75% of the high estimate cost upfront. So, overall, my penance for not supervising the $10 dollar toy experience was that I received vet bills that totaled more than $2400 in veterinarian care.
My Sylvie is well-loved, if not famous now, at Bideawee. I am lucky Sylvie is still with me. I will never allow a toy to be chewed or torn by my cat again. This story was not the fault of the Kong brand, but, I can advocate for better "Kitty Kong toy & Cat playtime" supervision. As a consumer, you should be aware of the condition of your cat's toys.
I BELIEVE THAT THIS TOY IS NOT A GOOD FIT WITH RESCUE KITTEN BEHAVIOR. This is my first and possibly my last Amazon review. Please supervise your cat's play with this toy.

I have a cat who chews. He loves this thing and likes to chew it as well as bat it and carry it around. He likes the salmon paste it comes with and licks at it like crazy. I would very much reccomend this product to anyone with an active cat or kitten.Read Best Reviews of KONG Kitty KONG & Stuff'N Easy Treat Salmon Combo, Cat Toy Here
I have 3 cats. None of them care a lick about the Kong. No matter what I stuff in it, they ignore it. But I'm giving this product 5 stars because the salmon flavored... goo... that comes with it has been a life saver. My elderly cat goes absolutely bananas for the stuff, and I realized that if I smear some of it on his pill at night (he has hyperthyroidism), he eats it like it's a delicious treat. Now whenever I take his pill bottle out he gets all excited. I put his pill in a dish, squirt on some salmon stuff and he gobbles it right up. Anyone who's ever had to pill a cat every day knows how awesome that is. Thanks Kong!Want KONG Kitty KONG & Stuff'N Easy Treat Salmon Combo, Cat Toy Discount?
