I have three cats, and the two males have both had UTI scares. These can be life threatening in male cats. The most recent scare cost me $750 after three vet visits. Alejandro started showing very early warning signs of UTI recently, including going outside of the box and licking his wiener excessively (sorry, it is what is!). He normally doesn't do that, but he did it during the last UTI, so I took that as a sign of irritation.

Anyway, I bought another product from another manufacturer on Amazon that contained numerous herbs I had read about from holistic veterinary sites, as well as this cranberry chew treat. I started giving him human grade vitamin C and echinacea (in kitty sized doses) while waiting for the new products to arrive. Between my supplements, the other product, and this one, his symptoms have vanished within a couple days.

This particular product is more for routine prevention rather than a singular treatment, or it can certainly be taken in addition to any treatment as a booster. But I would not use this product ALONE to treat a UTI.

** I should emphasize that for full blown UTIs, it is best to visit the vet for treatment! Untreated UTIs can cause renal kidney failure. Male cats get crystals which can cause blockages. Your cat can be dead in TWO DAYS if this happens! **

In the situation I described above, I caught the symptoms in the very early stages! If symptoms progressed or continued, I would have brought him in to the vet!

Should also mention that Alejandro loves the taste, and so does my tiny little female Mathilde. She has never had a UTI, but cranberry can't hurt her, so I let her have one too. I will keep using this as a preventative measure to keep his tract healthy.

Figured I should emphasize that I believe it is the OTHER product that cured my cat's early UTI symptoms, due to it's containing many other medicinal herbs other than cranberry. I give this one 5 stars because ANY additional cranberry only helps, and the cat loves the flavor. So I might as well give him a treat he likes that has an added health bonus. This is not a cure, it is for boosting other treatment and for prevention.

My cat Willow is a big boy and his system naturally creates urinary tract crystals. After he became blocked last year, I researched ways to keep his tract crystal free. I have a 6 year old female cat who has had 4 urinary tract infections over the years mainly crystals in her urine. This last time was brought about by the stress of moving. She was given an antibiotic injection which definitely helped, but I wanted to do something a little more proactive in trying to keep her urinary tract healthy, since she seems to have this problem at the drop of the hat. I purchased 4 different products and so far I've only had a chance to try 2 of them, this one and Vetri-Science Laboratories Renal Essentials Feline Supplement for Pets.

I paid about $11 and there are 120 chews in the Vetri-Science bag and it recommends 4 chews per day which breaks down to 30 days worth of chews. They are very soft and easily break into smaller pieces. My cat is suspicious and picky and won't eat them unless I disguise them amid crunchy treats that have no health value whatsoever. She will still try to avoid them, so I also have to give them before she eats. Considering the number of chews for the price, so far I'm happier with this one.

I paid about $8 and there are 45 chews in the Pet Naturals bag, it recommends 2 chews per day and that breaks down to only 22 days of chews. These are not that soft, so I've had to cut them into smaller pieces and again mix them into crunchy treats with no health value. She likes crunchy treats better than soft, so she doesn't pick these out, but the fact that that there are only 22 days worth of chews in the bag makes it not such a great deal.

As soon as I've evaluated the other 2 products, I will update this review.

I read several folks stating that their cat threw up after the first dose. 4/twice daily is quite a lot! I give my cat 1/day, and have seen great improvement. Only once in the month I've used them have I heard him cough a hairball as opposed to the daily I was hearing before (I work from home so you can be sure I hear it all). I'd try one once or twice a day and start there. We all know cat's systems shock easy anyway why risk a cleanup?
