I am VERY happy with these chews and that's saying a lot because I usually hate rawhide. My Great Dane normally devours most rawhide treats in 15 minutes and during that time manages to tear off at least one soft wet chunk big enough to choke on and scare the daylights out of me.
These PetAg chews are truly CHUNKY they are very large, made with super thick rawhide, and designed in a way to prolong chewing pleasure. The knots make it so he cannot pull large pieces off to choke on and he has to work very hard to get even small pieces off. Normally if he has to work hard at a chew he will just give up but not these! He carries them all over the house, plays with them by throwing them in the air (which is very loud, these are HEAVY), and then settles down for some chew time -they keep him entertained for a good hour or more. In this hour of chewing he does NOT devour the rawhide like many other brands we have tried, he just barely manages to get a small 4 inch section gnawed soft then gets tired and takes a nap. In 3 days he has not gotten bored with this routine and we still have 98% of the original chew left! To me that is a cost effective chew toy! We also purchased one of the beef basted braids (and will be posting a review with pics there) -the basting looks to be thoroughly embedded into and throughout all of the rawhide not just brushed on the outside; it also does not come off on his legs, which are white, or my carpet, which is beige --WONDERFUL!
I feel it is important to note also that these chews are MADE IN THE USA (Illinois to be exact). Yes they do say "a product of Brazil" on the outside of the package but they are a PetAg product (a USA company founded in 1930) which is a division of Borden (another USA company). These are all-natural rawhide chews MADE IN THE USA from free range, natural grass-fed BRAZILIAN beef hides (without chemicals, preservatives or bleaches). They are antibiotic, hormone and preservative free. All products are lot-coded for traceability back to the cow.
They might seem a bit expensive at first glance, but I have discovered they are high quality, long lasting, and dog entertaining... that to me is worth every penny and if my dog ever makes it through the 2 chews we already have -I will happily purchase more!

I'm giving 5 stars here for its size and the relative safety of the product in terms of origin and the experiences of other buyers. Unfortunately my dog just stared at it in wonder and only gave it a few licks to get the peanut butter I dabbed on. Now it sits waiting to be re-gifted.My dog doesn't seem to like the raw white type of rawhide, so was pretty sure this wasn't going to be the Holy Grail for us -that treat that keeps her occupied and entertained for as long as possible, especially now, as she is recovering from knee surgery. Chewing on rawhide means NOT chewing on the incision area, which means no Cone of Shame, bite-free collar, improvised toga, or other no-fun fixes.
I've gone back to the little rawhide stix, brown-colored usual from the grocery store, the size meant for itty bitty dogs. I figure this means 100-pound Luna can have several at a session, which she knows perfectly well is better than one. Even one reallly big one.
I still think Big Bone deserves the 5 stars. I can see other doggies out there's eyes lighting up when they see it. Its vaguely obscene appearance will make the humans smile, making it a good choice of holiday gift to my way of thinking . If your recipient turns her nose up at it, make sure it's passed along to a needy pooch Santa doesn't visit them all, you know.

You just cannot go wrong with these rawhide's. Our Lab loves them. I love that they are good for him. A plus is they actually last a lot longer than the cheap store bought ones do. He gets hours of pleasure out of them. The store bought ones make him sick and he sometimes chokes on them. He chews these so well there has never been a problem with them. Will never buy him any other type of rawhide but these!This is the worst rawhide I've ever purchased.I figured I would give it a try as the picture makes it look like it is mostly 2 knots. My black lab is a speed demon when it comes to the straight rolls, the knots on bones slow him down. While the straight piece was about as thick as my arm the knots were rather small. This is not really bad in itself, just not what I expected and if that was the only issue it would get a min of 3 stars.
So why the 1 star? During the life of the bone (which wasn't long at all, maybe a day) there we chips all over the house, the average size was about the size of a piece of shredded paper coming from a cross-cut shredder. Some splinters were longer than my fingers and really sharp. I definitely wasn't expecting that seeing how "Safety-Knot" is in the name of the product.

I recieved my order in a few days. As soon as my dog got her paws on it she went to town. I limit her chewing sessions to about an hour a day. I will definitely be ordering this product again.
