My dog LOVES these. She eats a LID diet and these fit right in and work great for training. They are easy to break or crumble, the cookies are large so I break one in tiny pieces for rewards and by far are her favorite. Will buy these over and over.

I have purchased 26 packets of these treats in all the flavors and now feel I can give a fair assessment of it. The venison is the favorite by far though the others are right on it's heels.

These freeze dried treats/"cookies" are circular discs measuring 1.5" in diameter (across) and 3/8" thick and I've received 18 treats per bag consistently regardless of flavor. Alone in the re-sealable sturdy plastic bag they neither crumble nor disintegrate which is fantastic for both longevity and durability in handling. As a bonus, the bag itself is also pleated on the bottom to allow it to stand up on it's own (on our mantle or even on the shelf) once unboxed. In the fanny pack style training bag I wear during outdoor walks they maintain their disc shape intact even during lots of activity. The discs were either a lucky happenstance or artfully engineered for the trainer/pet owner to simply snap or break a sliver or tiny chunk off the disc to reward the correct behavior. All I need is a smidgeon of the cookie which is both great for the dog in terms of treat weight control and also to keep their digestive health on a even keel which can often become unbalanced (read diarrhea/very soft stool) with too many cookies.

As an example, a standard training session is about 5 minutes as a refreshing throughout the day or 5 minutes alone with one of my three to teach a brand new behavior. I have not yet used an entire cookie to get through any single training session where all 3 of my dogs are present (Australian Shephard/Golden mix, GSD and Anatolian/Pyr mix). It may seem odd but dogs need only a tidbit fitting into the pinch between your index and thumb as a single reward.

Therefore, the high value of the cookie far outweighs the dollar value of the treat in my book. And I haven't seen any stomach or bowel unrest when given as such.

As a test, I've frequently left un-bagged treats out on a shelf overnight and found no difference in the consistency or smell (can't attest to taste but the dogs don't complain EVER!).

All-in-all an excellent "cookie" alternative for our household training sessions (both new and continuing/ongoing reinforcement).

On a final note, I even dump out the crumbs on the bottom of the bag (left when I break a cookie apart with my hand inside the bag) into kibble and get my non-food motivated Anatolian to snarf up his Origens dinner at night.

My older dog never met a treat he did not like, but both he and his little sister seem to think the boost bites are among the best they have ever eaten.
