My cat, Callie, is a Calico cat... who is now 7 yrs old. I got her when she was 5 from the local Humane Society. Her previous owners moved to Australia and had to give up all their pets to do so... I was told that she ate only Pruina Cat-Chicken and Rice Cat Food. So I got that for her and when I would try to add any other small amounts of Purina Chicken & Rice type of cat food to her dish... she would throw up. So I gave up trying to get her on a better grade of Purina cat food. Until I got this pro plan... Purina Pro Plan Dry Adult Cat Food, Chicken and Rice Formula in the 7-Pound Bag. I know that when you change a cat's food you do so in very small amounts over a long period of time and slowly add more of the new food as the cat tolerates it... Well, finally, Callie started to tolerate this cat food... in just VERY small amounts, mixed in with her usual, less expensive and less health inclusive Purina Cat Food...and LOW AND BEHOLD... she has been eating it WITHOUT THROWING UP! :-) That was 5 weeks ago... and I am slowly adding a ratio of 2:10 amounts now... I started out with 1:10 ratio... I mix it together in a large sized "Lock & Lock" container and keep it in my pantry. Callie is eating it and I am happy. The pieces of this cat food are smaller than the other Purina that I am feeding her... and she is able to chew it better without having small chunks falling all over... there are still some small chunks that fall out of her mouth, but only a few now. Less gets into her water dish too... I am VERY HAPPY with this Purina Dry Cat Food... and I will be very pleased when she is on it 100%... She is NOT a big eater... she eats only about 12 to 14 bites at a time, but she eats every 3 hours. This is a personal addition... not connected to this product... My cat will NOT eat unless I am standing in the kitchen watching her eat. But she does let me sleep thru the night, but once I am awake... she meows until I get up and walk into the kitchen to watch her eat. WHen I am on the computer... she will stand in the doorway and MEOW till I get up and go into the kitchen to watch her eat. I don't know what her previous owners did to train her for this... but each time she wants to eat... she will NAG with her MEOWS... :-) I never had a cat that did that before. She is a sweet, dear loving cat, so I guess it is not much to do for her in exchange for her loyal love.

I recently adopted a cat and found out after having him home a couple of weeks that he has asthma. I am not saying that this food cures asthma, but after eliminating all other asthma triggers I was able to conclude that his asthma was caused by food allergies. My cat's adoption from PetSmart was sponsored by ProPlan so when I brought the cat home, I also received a free bag of this cat food. It was when I changed his food that he started having asthma attacks. I put him back on ProPlan (dry and canned) exclusively and he has not had any asthma attacks since. I have no local pet stores that supply this food, so I am thrilled that I am able to purchase this food on Amazon with free shipping through my Amazon Prime membership. Thank you Amazon!!

PLEASE read the first few main ingredients before buying the product. Do not look at how fancy the wordings look but look at the actual ingredients that your cats will eat. Most of these food contain-

1 Chicken By-Product Meal -"dry, ground, rendered clean parts of the chicken carcass."

2 Whole Grain Corn -grains = high carbs = fat.

3 Animal Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid) -a tocopherol is pretty much a form of vitamin E.

4 Corn Gluten Meal -that's a protein corn by-product; it's a little deficient in lysine, so it shouldn't be the only protein source, which it isn't. (Yes, your pet can digest it just fine).

5 Brewers Rice -another by-product, leftovers from the milling process.

Please consider Grain-fee food for your cat if you want it to live a longer life because grain-free obviously doesn't contain grains, leftover meats, and the price is almost the same as these cheap 'craps'.
