My dog chewed through the virtually indestructible Everlasting Fire Plug the first night it was given to him. Their site claims that "It's made from an exclusively designed material that is both durable and tear resistant to hold up to even the toughest chewers." He is an aggressive chewer which is why I sought after this toy, but I never expected him to go through it so fast, and I am very disappointed that I wasted $20 on a toy that didn't hold up to its claims.

I was surprised to read the earlier reviews that this toy is easily chewed through, as I have not found this to be the case. I have a 65 pound, 7 month old puppy who loves chewing on toys and has not been able to chew through this or any of the other Everlasting toys we have. So I wonder whether this product has been improved since those reviews. I do, however, wish that the treats that are used as "plugs" for these toys were not so expensive; especially since they do not last very long. But having the compartment in the middle to hold kibble or other treats is great. It definitely keeps my puppy busy.My golden retriever was able to eat the everlasting treat fairly quickly. I have not bought any more replacements as he is very good at getting them out.I have however, found another excellent use for this. I put my dog's kibble inside and use it as a treat/food dispensing toy. He knows how to use other food dispensing toys and this is no different. He'll push it around with his nose and the food comes out. It take longer for him than our puppy that has smaller sized kibble that come out faster.
So, those that say their dog loses interest in this toy once the everlasting treat is gone-give the toy new life and make your dog use his brain!

Maybe rating this toy five stars is jumping the gun since I've only had it 2 days but this thing has done better with my dog than any other treat toy. I have an 8 month old mini Aussie (about 20 lbs) and surprisingly enough she chews through everything! The only bones that work for her are the strongest Nyla bones (the white ones) but she loses interest in them sometimes so I prefer treat toys that keep her occupied. She has chewed through many kongs in a matter of about an hour or two (puppy, red and black), but the material this everlasting fire plug toy is made of somehow prevents her from breaking off chunks. Maybe since it's chewier? The treats for the ends are pricy but for how long this thing keeps her busy, it is so worth it! I will try it with other treats inside to see how that works after she works away the end treats, so hopefully that works too.I read a number of reviews here and I honestly have no idea how a dog could pop a treat out of this thing within 10 minutes. It took me longer than that to get the darn treat in the toy! Realizing shortly after my initial attempts that you must use a spoon or butter knife to move the side out and pop it in. Also I read in one review that the treats give their dog loose stools. Again, I've had this for barely 48 hours and haven't noticed any irregularity but that could change.
All in all, I love this toy. My dog is a neat aggressive chewer with a smaller mouth. Maybe bigger mouthed sloppier chewing dogs don't have as much luck with these, but chances are, I will be a repeat buyer of these products. Best $20 I've spent on a toy for her thus far!!!

this is the ONLY toy we have found that our american bulldog/pitbull mix can not destroy. She loves this toywe put dog treats in the middle and she loves itshe also wants to play tug of war with it. not many stores carry thishave to purchase online anyway because its a lot cheaper on here. i highly recommend this to ANYONE who has a large dog that chews and destroys toys!
