The toy smells terrible to me. Weird chemical rubbery nastiness. The dog is completely in love with it. He's a Chessie mix and ball crazy in general. A ball that dispenses breakfast must be magic. He brings it to be filled every morning. It will only hold a cup of food but that will vary with how the pellets are shaped. It only takes him about 15-20 minutes to empty the food our but then he enjoys dropping it and catching it when it's empty. It is heavy for its size and it bounces erratically so it does bang into people and furniture pretty hard and unexpectedly but so does he. I do very much hope the smell fades but even if doesn't, I am still using it every morning.

I bought one barnacle toy... then both my dogs wanted it.

My fiancé is a veterinarian and she says that you are supposed to rotate your dog's toys for maximum stimulation. That makes sense when I think of it. This toy fits in well with the waggle, squirrel, and Kong. It is unique enough that my dog doesn't have a technique for it yet so it keeps her occupied for a while.

Our dogs are pretty good at getting the frozen meat out of treats balls they have learned. This one was hard enough that they initially couldn't so I cut the prongs covering each hole and they are starting to figure it out. We really like it because it keeps them busy.

I like it. I can't imagine not needing to trim the prongs back, they are so long that nothing will come out if you don't. I would like to see the opening refined to change that issue. Rubber has a strong odor. I have large and small, it is very difficult to trim the prongs on the small toy.
