I didnt know when I first had to buy a muzzle for my dog that the mesh ones that slide over their nose are not kind because they cannot pant properly when hot and running or drink water whilst wearing them. Not a huge deal since I kept it on him for short periods and always offer my dogs water back at my car before I load them in their crates after we walk. However my dog hated the old muzzle and would spend half the walk trying to pull it off and rub his nose in the sand and be overly stressed out.

I'm sure he doesn't LOVE this one either, but the difference is he doesn't NOTICE it. Its a non-event and I feel happier knowing he can open his mouth without risk of biting. Oh, also with the other muzzles he could still swipe a bit of dog fur from an unsuspecting bypasser (he is a long haired chihuahua, about 15 lbs, so maybe they underestimated him, but biting is biting and its not ok whatever the size). I definitely recommend attaching the collar through the loop provided, it helps it stay seated and makes it easier to get on and off. Its a bit of a fiddle but worth it I reckon. I got the size 1 for my little guy and although there is a bit of movement around his muzzle he cannot get it off once through the collar and it does not get in his eyes. I'm very happy with it.

This was worth the money to have. Fits my chi weenie nicely. However he can still get it off but I believe this to be my error or he is just really clever. It's cushioned on the inside so doesn't seem as uncomfortable. Heavy duty muzzle but not inhumane would recommend

they can drink and breathe normally. the other type of muzzles always constricted our dogs so they were panting the whole time they were muzzled.

Hi have a female larger sized yorkie (11lbs) that became aggressive towards my male yorkie after five years together. She would attack him for no reason, no warning, anywhere (even once while he was asleep) and it was extremely tramatic to witness and difficult to break up. I took her to the vet and tried many different things over many different months. This dog is the sweetest dog around people, our other small dog, and loves children. She just decided she no longer could live (at random) times with this older yorkie. I can not imagine choosing between these dogs, so I decided I would try a muzzle for the evenings when we are all together. The muzzle works great for me in this situation. She has only tried twice to hurt my other dog while wearing the muzzle and she can't do anything other than poke at him with her nose, which is easy for me to spot and correct. I do not leave my dog alone for any period of time with this muzzle on; I seperate my dogs when I'm away. I first purchased a more (3x's more) expensive, highly rated muzzle, which was effective but slightly heavier and had a alarming look on my dog's face. This one is perfect for my situation and doesn't look nearly as menacing. I don't use the snap between the eyes because I harness my small dog and it kept slipping into her view if attached to the harness. The muzzle works well for me without that strap. She has never removed the muzzle and she seems to prefer this one over the last one. She eats treats, pants, barks, and naps with this on. This was truely a life saver.
