Okay first off, there are a lot of negative reviews for other PetArmor products out there and I think we may all be the victims of trolling by the competition. They all promise that if you use this product your beloved pet will die a horrible death, become paralyzed, lethargic, throw up bile, etc. etc. I'm sure that some animals have allergic reactions to some medications, this is nothing new. I put this product on my cat and she is fine (other than being quite irritated at me for putting something on her that she can't reach to clean off). I can't speak to the effectiveness of the medication, I'm only writing this review in an attempt to counter some of the deplorable scare tactics that the competition is trying. Do you ever take generic equivalent medications? I certainly do, and that's exactly what this product is. My cat is fine. My sister's cat is fine. My friend's cat is fine, and we all use this product. One thing you can do to see if you are being trolled is to look at the reviewer's history and see if they have reviewed other products. If not, you might be dealing with a paid troll. I have a tendency to trust reviewers that have reviewed more than one thing.

I was a bit apprehensive due to the bad reviews, but upon searching for all the other OTC flea products, it seems that they ALL cause seizures, "foaming at the mouth" and will kill your cat immediately. I'd already tried Seargent's Gold, which didn't work and caused a bald patch on the back of my cat's neck, and have been treating the house, using natural remedies, and frequently using a flea comb on my cat. These did a pretty decent job in reducing the number, but not eliminating them and it was exhausting to keep up with.

Within 24 hours of using the PetArmor (24.99 at Target) I found no live fleas upon combing her with a flea comb, and I found several dead fleas on the windowsill where she sleeps. She had no adverse reactions (neurological or skin, and she seems to have sensitive skin). I applied the product more toward the top/back of her head just to be sure that she wouldn't lick it.

I have used Frontline on my cats for years but the store was out and the only option was Petarmor. I applied Petarmor then had a bit of a panic attack when i read the reviews here. But, low and behold, my cats are fine and the flea situation is diminishing just like if i had used Frontline. Great Product, Worked great on my pets and at almost half the cost of Frontline i am probably going to be using this product instead.

So I'm noticing a few different kinds of post, half saying this works the same as other products, and half saying it will kills your cat, because they were told that by a vet. First off, I am a pet specialist, and I am not biased in any way. I believe that most flea topical medications work the same way, because most have the same active ingredients.

First off, only buy a 1 count pack the first time you try this. Cat's can have adverse reactions, same as humans. There are MILLIONS of people who have to switch medications because they are allergic to the first one give, cats are no different. If you have a kitty with bad reactions or sensitive skin, only put a tiny dab on their back between the shoulder blade. Check it every half hour for 12 hours, being careful not to wipe it off with your fingers. If your cat does get a reaction (redness, swelling, broken skin, peeling in the area) use warm water to wipe it off immediately. Pat dry, don't rub.

Second, this will not work instantly! I see so many post saying they put it on their cat an hour ago and the cat still has fleas! REALLY? The way topical medication works is that it absorbs into the skin and is rereleased in the natural oils all over their body. This can take as little as a few hours for some cat, for others a few days. Then the fleas will try to wait it out or run to areas of the cat that don't have medication, or flea from the cat entirely. This means the fleas will get in your funiture, carpet and other soft spots. Make sure you are Vaccuuming daily or even twice daily! Most people don't know this, but you can vaccuum your bed and couch as well. Wash sheets and pillows and blankets twice a week or more and put flea powder in the carpet. Flea powder only cost about $2-$5 in most stores and it's easy to use.

Lastly, people are claiming their vet said not to use this. PetArmor is a private brand that does not distribute to vets offices, meaning that Vets can make money off of it in any way. Vets want you to bring your pets in for flea dips and buy medication through them. Or, don't mention right away that you used PetArmor, see the different ideas you get as to what is wrong with the cat. Also, vet offices get paid by the companies to promote the medications they sell. Look at the ingredients in PetArmor compared to other topicals. 90% are the same, and the few I saw that weren't the same were natural materials mostly for consistency, color and scent.

So, don't take all reviews as fact. All that I said above is unbiased and true.

As for a review of this product:

I have used this product for many years on many animals. I even use small amounts on Ferrets and Hamsters without any negative results. This product works a little slower than some, but for a third the price, it's worth the extra wait. Make sure you get it on the skin, because it is a thin consistancy and tends to spread out on the fur. It takes about 3 hours to dry, so pat up any areas that may have spilled where the cat might accidentally consume it. Don't bath your cat after this for at least a week, otherwise you might wash out the chemical that kills the fleas.

If you want to wash your cat, to get the process started, wash them with dawn dishsoap BEFORE applying this medicine. Use a Knit or flea come and go through it's fur, making sure to kill the fleas or drop them into boiling hot water to kill them. Dry the cat completely, then apply the medication. Because the cats skin will be dried out, it will actually get their body going and they will start producing natural oils faster.
