If these didn't cost so much, I would buy them more regularly. This is one of the very few chew treats that actually last long enough to require dedicated chewing, but they cost too much to but regularly. So, they're a treat when I can find them on enough discount to warrant the shipping costs.We give our 7 year old Chow one large treat every three days. Never any problems. Vet comments on the excellent condition of his teeth. We switched from Greenies after the scare. He never had problems with the Greenies. As an only dog, he guards it for several hours, then slowly grinds it up. As a grinder, he never had problems with Greenies, either. I would not advise it for gulpers. I would also be concerned with multiple dog families. They need to down it fast to keep it. But-for an only dog that has demonstrated that it eats treats slowly, it is an excellent item. We also give it to him when we are away for the day. He carries it around all day, like a security blanket, and eats it after we return home. We believe that dental cleanings/dental problems pose more risk than these items. While these last several hours to even a full day, he finishes the new Greenies in 15 minutes. They are just too soft.
