My dog was recently diagnosed with a thyroid problem which means daily medication. I had bought the six bags of the duck & pea pill pockets before as he also has allergies and was frequently on medication. He was on his last bag of the pill pockets so it was time to order a new supply. Luckily, his thyroid pills are very small so I cut one pill pocket into quarters and each quarter will encapsulate one pill. In fact, he seems not to mind taking them at all when they are that small. However, if he has to take a capsule or a larger pill, I have to use half of a pill pocket and put it at the back of his throat to get him to swallow it. You can't beat the prices here on Amazon initially when I tried the duck & pea pill pockets, a bag at the pet store cost $9. There have been many periods when he's been taking 5-6 pills/capsules in one day so a bag doesn't last long, however you stretch it. It's a little expensive to order six bags at a time but in the long run, you'll save money.

I bought a small bag as a tester to see if my dogs would like these. I have to give my dogs 4-5 pills a day but only 2 that they will not take by themselves (not coated in bread, peanut butter or some other treat). Both dogs enjoyed these and I ended up ordering a bulk pack from Amazon.

UPDATE JAN 2013: I switched my dogs to the peanut butter flavored pill pockets because I think the duck flavored raised my dogs cholesterol. I do not know this for a fact, so please proceed how you see fit. One of my dogs is 11 years old and we have to monitor his blood counts every few weeks. Within the months of him taking these pill pockets with his pills for his liver function, his cholesterol levels rose drastically to 538; normal levels are between 112-328. Nothing else in his diet changed except for the addition of these pill pockets. I chose to remove these from his diet and try the peanut butter ones rather than put him on additional meds for his cholesterol. After a month of being off of the duck flavored pill pockets on the peanut butter pill pockets, his blood work showed his cholesterol levels at 368. Nothing else in his diet and activity changed.

Our 13 yr old lab mix was put on three meds several months ago and continually spit out all three pills. Since becoming a gluten-free family four years ago and seeing subtle but big changes since then, and knowing our sweet dog had a serious itch at times, we've put our pets on low-allergen food and it was important to me to find a product that would not add additional allergens as we administered the meds for arthritis. Thanks so much for providing a way to buy these wonderful pill pockets at a reasonable price. My poodle has had pancreatitis several times and is allergic to beef and corn. With your "duck" pill pockets she loves to take her medication and has no ill effects. I know people complain of the awful odor. But, apparently, my dog thinks they smell great. And, after all, she's the one that eats them.

We go through these like buttah! My dog has some prescriptions AND food allergies. She is a pig for these, loves them! These are a great price too; to buy them in the store or at the vet (no offense guys), it costs a lot more. If you go through them they we do with our dog, these are great! Nothing else will substitute either, she won't eat anything else as consistently as these.
