Wow! My dog has jaws of steel and can crack deer antlers, so I decided to go with this antler (and my dog is the size of a border collie). I got the Amazon Prime delivery to my work... I work in an elementary school. This antler is so big and heavy that I couldn't help laughing a little when I unwrapped it and showed it to my students. They suggested perhaps I use it to smack them when they are naughty (I wouldn't...this was their suggestion).
Anyway, it's about a foot long, an inch and a half in diameter, and must weigh about a pound and a half.
The only thing one might worry about is that the thing feels like a piece of concrete. A dog with a strong chew might break a tooth on it if he bit down the wrong way.
My dog really chews on this, although he tends to lose interest in it unless I occasionally slap some peanut butter on the cut ends. He'll chew on it when he gets bored, too, but he's mostly a chewer who likes to chew for a purpose, and he can't do too much damage to this. Fortunately, he knows to not bite too hard, so no tooth damage has occurred.
Keep an eye on your dog when he chews it, and avoid giving it to dogs who bite down too hard on things, especially if they have a history of chipping teeth. Great for dogs with strong jaws.
Oh, and don't throw this thing.

I have tried antlers from different companies; my dog loves them all.
This last order from Chasing our Tails had one as big around as my wrist. She typically carries them with her just about everywhere when she's working on one, so keep that in mind. This very large antler lasted about one week; she lliterally ate it. She is a larger than average English Bulldog, and a very strong chewer, but it was down to 1 1/2" in days and had to be taken away. This one also smelled really bad there at the end. It was leaving red ooze from the marrowit was just unpleasant. I'm sure that's why this larger one lasted less than the typical 2 weeks; it was fresh and smelled strong.
I'm going to use them again, but just a warning to keep an eye outsome of these are softer than others and get small fairly quickly.

Our 2 1/2 year old lab is 90 lbs and loves to chew the nyland bones, so I thought I'd try the Elk Antler. He loved it, but after about two minutes I saw that half of one of his teeth broke off. Since he's not even three years old, I was surprised at this. It's not like he's an old dog with weak teeth. So although, I read the great reviews on the elk antlers, I wouldn't recommend it.

This is awesome bone. We have a 60 lb chocolate lab and she went nuts over this thing when we gave it to her. It is her favorite chew toy.
It's very durable and looks like it will last for years.
Since it is a natural product, it has "wild" scent to it that dogs are attracted to by instinct. We play hide and seek with it. She always sniffs it out.
(Don't worry, it doesn't "stink" like cow hooves or pigs ears. But, your dog will love it just as much. It's just a subtle smell and it does fade after a week or so.)
I probably could have gotten the smaller version. But, this one is fine for our pooch.
It is pricy, but I expect that this will out live my dog.
