This is the only variety of Wellness food that my cat refuses to eat. It is also the only variety that smells horrid. Most of the varieties actually smell good, especially the chicken or turkey flavors. This one is nauseating. In fact, the first can I opened smelled so bad that I thought the product was spoiled and opened a second. Now, either both were spoiled or neither were and it just smells horrific. Too bad, as the product isn't inexpensive (though this Amazon sale is, perhaps because it doesn't sell well??).

I love the Wellness Brand foods for my cats. I usually buy the chicken and herring the most but also throw in some different flavors like this into the mix for my cats. They both love the wet foods in the cans more than than pouches of food. I used to just give them a little wet food occassionally more so as a treat until I found out my one cat was diabetic and I starting researching a lot online. I worked at a pet store my first year in college and was always under the impression that dry food was best and wet food was not necessary. I always bought Nutro Natural Choice Dry Food which I knew to be a great quality brand with no by-products. We fed our cats the Wellness Brand wet foods occassionally but now primarily feed them only the wet food. It turns out that the only benefit to dry food is that it is better for their teeth. Cats are made to eat protein and get most of their hydration from the moisture in the food. Even if you feed them dry food and they drink water, it still usually isn't enough to keep them as hydrated as they should be. I had to feed my diabetic cat twice a day 12hrs apart and give him insulin shots. I switched him to all canned wet food by Wellness and within a month he went from a blood sugar level over 260 when I first took him and getting 2 shots of 2 units of insulin a day, to 1 unit each shot and now no insulin. Each time we took him in his blood sugar was normal since the switch. The vet tried to get me to put him on the Science Diet Perscription food instead at first but I read that it wasn't the best thing and decided to use this food instead and I am so glad that I did! There are unnecessary fruits and veggies added into this food that really has no added value for your cat but it is still high in protein which is what your cat needs and its free of any by-products. I would recommend this food to anyone with a cat and I hope if you have a diabetic cat you have as much luck as we did where your cat will actually no longer be a diabetic. The vet was shocked at how quickly my cat recovered from diabeties and my cat couldn't have been happier with the change to all wet food. He just hated only getting fed twice a day!

My cat loves the mixed source of protein. His fur is so soft and since he is sensitive to grains, it works out for him all around. Great product!
