My dog will do anything for one of theses treats, in fact I break it up into four pieces and she is very happy to get four treats and I am happy they are heathy.

A very healthy and safe treat for my dog. Too many other treats have suspicious ingredients that concern me. I am a strong supporter of Castor & Pollux products. I will continue to order this product.

Great concept for those of us who take our pets everywhere! It has pockets and pouches to store everything (food, water bottle, bowls, toys, collar/leash, etc). It folds up into an attractive and durable carrying case w/handle-a pet suitcase. We travel often and use our "pet suitcase" a lot-we love it!

My dogs love these, especially the roast beef flavor. One of the dogs is allergic to chicken, so this is a very welcome treat!

These are definitely more of a treat than a chew. Since it had some rawhide, we weren't sure how long they would last, but the answer is not long. Our lab can demolish one in seconds. She really likes them though and they have been great to break in half and stick in a Kong.

I've had this gizmo for about three weeks now. My trainer sold me on it and though I haven't had a chance to fully utilize it, based on my initial experiences with it, I strongly believe it will work very well for the training I'm attempting. That being said, I am disappointed at what I discovered to be a very simple but important engineering flaw. I noticed that at random times, the machine would grind to a stop during maintained dispensing (sit-n-stay mode as they call it). I tried the different size dispensers provided no luck. My kibble is hard and oval in shape, fits well within the hole size of the dispenser, so it was ideal for the machine but was still jamming it. After further inspection, the holes in their dispenser rings had a ridge around the opening which was sometimes trapping my kibble against the edge of the main unit as the dispenser ring spun around. The kibble, pinned against the main unit, caused the dispenser to jam and fail.

To fix this, I took a dremel tool and carved out the side of the edge which was trapping the kibble and now it works like a dream. No issues. I still can't figure out:

1. why they built the ridge out in the area i had to remove

2. why they never caught this issue during the product testing

I recommend purchasing this unit, but if your kibble jams the unit, don't switch your dog food to meet the machine's poor engineering find a friend w/ a dremel or other tool and cut away the outside part of the ridges on the dispenser rings. If for some reason you foul it up completely, you can always buy a spare dispenser ring.

Note: this unit requires two sizes of battery four D size batteries for the main unit which you'll need to provide, and a 23A for the remote which came included with my unit.

The first day will probably the hardest part of training your dog with the Manners Minder so that's what I'll describe here:

I read the quick start instructions which briefly outline how to set up the unit. I added some kibble and placed the base unit on the floor within my arms reach. I pressed the remote and a couple of kibble dropped into the bowl. The dog and the cat had been sniffing from about a foot or so away both jumped back several feet when they heard the noise the motor makes. I patted the bowl where the kibble was and reassured my pup it was okay, that he could go get the treat from the bowl. Took a minute or two of coaxing but he eventually, timidly approached the bowl and took the kibble. When he backed away to look at the bowl I pressed the remote again sending more kibble into the bowl. They had the same reaction to the motor noise but they didn't back up quite as much this time. I verbally reassured him that it was okay and encouraged him to take the treat. I repeated this several times and after about ten minutes or so my dog lay down in front of the bowl waiting for the treat. I told him what a good boy he was. At this point, each time he stood up to get the treat he'd then lay back down in front of the bowl. I started to wait just a little longer after he lay down so he'd eventually get the idea that he had to lay down before the treat would be released. Within 20 minutes he was in down/stay mode, waiting for the treat and no longer afraid of the motor noise.

I had read many of the reviews here on Amazon and had a good idea of what to expect; I must say I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly my pup became acclimated to the sounds and function of the Manners Minders. I didn't exactly follow the instructions to the letter from the manual but it was just that quick and that easy to get my dog to get comfortable the sound of the unit without fearing the noise it makes to lay dow and stay to get the treat. This had been my biggest concern but in seeing how well day one has gone, I am looking forward to seeing how the results with my dog will continue to improve over time .

The cat on the other hand just sneaks up on it, snatches the treat and runs away with it. We'll work on that :)

Now that I am confident that the Manners Minder will work for my pup I will follow the training method outlined in the full manual. I'll continue to update this review as our training progresses.

UPDATE: Day Two

My dog is raw fed. I am having a little trouble finding treats that work with this unit *and* his diet. I am looking for a dehydrated, close to single ingredient, meat based/grain free treat. In the meanwhile I have been using Zuke's Minis which works very well with the smaller plate of the MM, giving out only one or two tiny treats. The company makes Premier Liver Biscotti Dog Treats, Dog Treats,Wheat/Egg Free Recipe but when I called customer service to obtain the ingredient list, they did not have it and suggested I request it by email. It's been only a day or so since the email request and I have not heard back from them just yet.

I followed the training manuals steps to introduce the "beep" sound which is supposed to give that Pavlov response that a treat is coming but it seems he already figured out that the motor noise means a treat is coming; on low the "beep" is pretty loud and I would rather LESS noise involved with this process so I am not using the "beep" at this time.

Since treats need to remain in the unit even when we aren't practicing, I was concerned that either the dog or cat would try to tip this over and/or figure out how to get the lid open by fussing with it; so far it seems that they cannot get it open or flipped over.

This is a great product. It dispenses treats when a small keyfob type activator is pushed. The dog's focus is not on the treats in your hand but on the machine. This frees up your hand(s) for other training activities. The dispenser works flawlessly and is very well designed.

I ordered two of these, one for my mom and one for me. I wanted my mom to have something to help her thunder phobia dog whom loves food be more calm during a storm and to be able to set the timer for when she leaves because he has separation anxiety as well. Only issue is finding a food that will not jam the disc. Be sure to get a round or M&M shaped food. Still jams some. I use it for my dogs to teach them to go to their place when the door bell rings to keep them from freaking out. It is working to help with their recall as well. If it didn't jam it would be a perfect item. I still find it worth the money, just might not be able to use it when I leave the house using the timer. Lots of videos on uses on youtube. A great one is taking the bowl off and putting it on top of a wire crate to teach calm and quiet in the crate by treats falling into the crate.

Thanks to all of the Amazoners who wrote reviews! I ordered this last week for my border collie. He is not that big of a dog, but a big chewer. He used to chew on everything, outdoor furniture, plants, wood, rocks out of our pond. And anything I bought for him didn't last. He is still chewing on this big ring after a week, and has only taken about a 3 inch piece out of it. At this rate, it should last a couple of more weeks.

Last night he even got up in the middle of the night and wanted to go outside and chew on his ring. Very good value.

Update 8/17/2013 I've ordered several more of these since last year. They all last him a couple of months. He now gets very excited, and whines when the UPS truck comes. He's expecting another Chunky Chew!

Thanks for taking the time to read my review, and I hope you found it helpful in making a purchase decision.

I think this is a good product for small dogs. My shih tzus enjoyed these, even chewing them before swallowing. These are not overly hard for older dogs' teeth. Unfortunately, I missed that these contain natural chicken flavor many dogs including mine have skin problems aggravated by chicken. If not a bother to your pup, then I would recommend this product.

My dogs love these little chew treats. I buy these as a variety to my go-to chew treats from Get Naked. I get all the varieties from Get Naked make but these Bonies Minis are a good sub for the Joint Health Get Naked sticks. I prefer the Get Naked ones because they also contain chondroitin (19mg). By contrast, although Bonies does not contain chondroitin, it does contain more glucosamine (50mg as opposed to only 32mg in the Get Naked Joint Health sticks). However, the Get Naked sticks pack less calories at only 19kcal per stick; the Bonies come in at 29kcal per mini bone. The two different brands of joint chew treats last fairly equally under the powerful masticating jaws of my supposed "toy" breed dog but I wouldn't ever want to be on the receiving end of his jaws! I did check their website and it states all their products are made in USA. I was concerned when I didn't see it on the package. Rexie loves these and knows enough to chew things until he has tiny bite sized pieces to swallow thankfully as I gather most chews have a choking risk. He looks better since he refused his commercial 4 and 5* dog kibble and canned foods. I am now giving him low fat filet mignon which is reasonably priced, sirloin, fat removed lamb chops and chicken breast skinless. He gets some supplements and nourishing chews. He is learning to eat vegetables slowly but surely. His coat is much softer and actually shimmers for the first time since we got him!

(She's a fussy eater who has refused other types of natural chews and brands of sweet potato treats.) The vet diagnosed my little Pom(Tazzi) with renal failure and suggested Tazzi be put to sleep on the spot. Of course, I disagreed and took Tazzi home. After 30 minutes of internet research, I discovered several recipes for dog food for dogs with renal failure. I began to make and feed those recipes to Tazzi and he made a quick and remarkable recovery. Making your own dog food can be a little time consuming though so I began to search for pre-made dog foods that would provide the same benefits as the home made dog food. "Science Diet Mature" met my criteria. Reducing the intake of phosphate is extremely important for dogs with kidney troubles and Science diet mature contains the least amount of phosphate I have seen in any other non-specialized, over the counter dog food. Anyway, I put a small handful of Science Diet Mature in a little dish(Tazzi is only 4.5lbs), add some water and microwave it for 1 minute. By the time the mix has cooled, the water has soaked into the food pellets to make them soft and very easy for Tazzi to eat. I feed Tazzi like this whenever he is hungry(about 4 times a day) and fortunately he really likes the taste. I should have had Tazzi on this Science Diet all his life. He is more alert and active than he has been in years! The day the vet advised me to put Tazzi to sleep I thought I only had days left to be with him. Now Im convinced he and I are going to be together for at least another couple of years(he is 13yo atm).

This food is wonderful. I used to buy cheap, grocery store stuff and tried this on a whim. I'm so glad I did.

My dog is a little older and is missing some teeth. Since he is a shih tzu he also throws up from time to time after eating. (Do all shih tzus do this, mine has since birth) Anyway, this food seems to cut down on the incidents. The pieces are very small and easy for him to chew.

It's good for him, a great size for my little dog, and I will continue to buy it.

A few years ago my now 19 yr old cat Squeaky stopped eating and hid under the bed. After a few days the vet kept her overnight on an IV, ran tests and unable to find anything wrong with her explained that when cats get ready to die they stop eating and hide. He wanted to keep her another night but I felt so helpless and desperate I took her home instead trying different things to get her to eat. That Sunday I power walked around the track at the gym for an hour praying so hard in between crying and when I left I stopped at a local pet store and found this product. It was high in nutrition and I knew she needed the taurine and calories soon or she would get a liver disease. I didn't think she would eat it but as soon as I got home, I squeezed some out and she lapped it up straight from the tube. A half hour later she was in the kitchen eating a can of cat food.

A few years have passed and although she has since gone deaf, she cries out for her JIT several times per day. She walks to the bedroom, cries out "NOW! NOW" over and over and waits for me to lift her up to her spot where she laps up as much of it as she wants. She did go through a spell for about 2 or 3 weeks a couple of years ago where she wouldn't eat it and we could see all the bones in her body. I feared God was ready to call her up to be Jesus' pillow cat. After a few weeks she decided she wanted it again. I truly believe this product sustains her and keeps her alive. Although she spends most of her time on a heating pad, she still likes to play on occasion and is fairly healthy. My youngest 2 yr old likes to clean up the tube after her and my 4 yr old likes it.

If you are considering this product, I would start with one tube if you haven't tried it yet. Not all cats like it. We've tried to trick our 16 yr old into it and can't get him to eat it. He can't weigh more than 5 lbs dripping wet and needs it badly. He has a hearty appetite for food but can't gain weight, is always freezing and could really benefit from it. He also has been tested for everything with the vets and is otherwise healthy. So not all cats will like it unfortunately. It also makes a difference how you store the tube. We buy 10 at a time and keep them laying down flat until a tube is over half empty. At that time we stand it up to get the product to the opening. We find if we stand it up full, it doesn't mix properly or something and Squeaky won't eat it. 3 of our 5 cats like it though and it's worth a shot if you need vitamins, nutrition and calories for your cat.

NutriCal was recommended by a vet for a week old, abandoned kitten. It stimulated her appetite. Unfortunately we lost the kitten to an infection shortly thereafter. We then decided to give it to one of our 15 year old cats that was losing weight. She HATES it. Then again, she hates anything that isn't cat food from a can or bag. We put it in a syringe and then squeeze it into her mouth. She acts like she has a mouthful of peanut butter. After about a hour we notice an increase in her appetite and activity level. We gave it to her daily for about a month and she started to put on some weight. We got overconfident and stopped the NutriCal only to see the weight drop off again as well as the activity level. Even though she doesn't like it, we are starting to feed it to her again. I look at it like the icky medicines I had to swallow as a kid. It wasn't fun, but it did the job. Putting up with the mess and protests are the least I can do for my friend. Conversely, my other 15 year old cat loves to lick the stuff from the tube (she also likes hairball medicine from the tube, cake, cookies, fritos, table scraps, ice cream, pizza and pasta), but she needs more poundage like she needs another tail! (We don't feed her all those items, but she can steal like a veteran politician!)

Buy NutriCal For Cats Now

My little best friend is almost 15. As a kitten, she swallowed magnets (playing with those darn pics we all post on our fridge. Tell all you know don't do that! Use a photo album or tape instead!) Ever since her little lifesaving surgery, she can only eat certain kibble and only 10 or so of them at a time, and each feeding spaced well enough apart. Any more, and she'll get sick.

Needless to say, she is always begging. She just doesn't understand her situation until it's too late. And then, well it's too late for my carpet. Not to mention that she doesn't feel well afterwards.

She has been healthy as a horse otherwise until a scare a few months back. At the vet visit, she weighed in at a mere 5.5 lbs (runt of the litter, asian persuasion --not starvation by me). While she was deemed utterly healthy (and sweet :) by the vet (albeit, diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia --the probable reason for her 'unwellness moment' (see my Excel Glucosamine Cat Paste review)), I felt as though we could put a bit more weight on her to possibly help with her hips and all-around health... it couldn't hurt, she's so darn kitten-cute-small and wirey --and I'd sleep better at night.

Here's where Nutri-Cal came into play....

I'd spent at least an hour at the local big pet store reading tubes, canisters, you name it. I had to be careful in my final pick as it needed to be easy enough on her tummy. I ended up with 2 choices. I found one of the employees and asked her about the two (one being Nutri-Cal, the other some 'senior supplement). The minute she said that Nutri-Cal was recommended by vets -my decision was made. She also added that anything 'senior-oriented' would not include good-for-you-fatty-type nutrition (if you're looking to add a bit of weight onto a cat). That is, if your needs included weight-gain, one would be better off buying a product (even food) geared towards kittens, not senior cats. Just a tip for anyone else out there in my older-tiny-(or skinny)-kitty situation.

A tube of Nutri-Cal was purchased. It has been a godsend! Sage is so much more content now; she has gained a bit of weight, and I believe she feels better all-around including her hips. She's back to her kitten-at-heart ways. She doesn't sit and beg anymore, she'll actually go play or lay down after licking some of this stuff up! AND, she adores the stuff.... she just loves it!!

I don't just give her some 2 or 3 times a day, she gets this in between almost each feeding (except when she gets fed by her automatic timed feeder while I'm at work). She gets a good 7+ fingertip blobs a day. I've found no side-effects; she has never gotten sick even when she begs enough that I'll give her some 10 minutes or so after her regular food; and she has filled out fabulously. This stuff is a gift from god!! I just squeeze some out onto my finger, blob the stuff onto her plate, and she's a happy camper! I truly feel that this has made an incredible difference in her life... and I don't say that lightly.

I would recommend this stuff to anyone in my situation, or someone with an aging or sick cat who won't eat regular food much (or at all). Anyone who cares about their kitty, or is worried about their kittycat should drop a dime on this stuff. I really cannot push this product enough. The happy life (or even extended time) spent with your best little friend that this product offers is worth more than I can put into words.

I've hesitated writing this review because there's always some corporate suit out there that gets wind of reviews like mine and decides to raise the price. I'll hope not this time around. I spend the time here hoping rather that this review helps you as much as it has both Sage and myself. Peace of mind, and a happy life for my cat.... can I ask for anything more.

On a final note... buying this stuff off amazon is also worth it's weight in gold. I've already picked up 6 more tubes via here. Local (big) pet stores around me charge overly EXCESSIVE prices vs. the cost found here. THIS is the DEAL kittycat owners... look no further.

These bully sticks are great for my lab and my wallet. My lab, lulu, seems to like it alot. When I take one out of her treats cabinet, she would start performing her series of tricks and commands until I give it to her and off she goes to her corner.

It's thicker, and my lab spend a bit longer chewing it, it does smell, but it never stains the carpet and leave any lingering smell there. I've also gotten other bully sticks products from BBB, and I tried the himalayan dog chew. My dog likes them all. It's a great company overall.

Although, I hate paying a lot of money for shipping and handling. So I'd buy it in bulk whenever BBB has free shipping offers.

My miniature longhair dachshund, Ginger, loves these! She has been working on her first from this order for three weeks and it is just now getting too short for her to have. They really keep her teeth nice and reduce the amount of time she spends chewing household items. You will definitely want to keep these away from you when they have been chewed as the scent is not pleasant to humans. I have been ordering these for months and they have always been wonderful, 5 stars, normally 3/4-1" think and with a very mild odor. My dogs love them, they don't stain anything and they last well. This time I am very dissappointed. The packaging has changed and most of these 'thick' bully sticks are less than a 1/2" thick! I don't care about the packaging, but if I wanted tiny thin things suitable for a shitzhu, I would order them. My German Shepherds are not impressed. I will order once more in hopes that this was a fluke since they were great in the past, but if I get the same product I got today again, no more.

I have a one year old boxer that loves these, but they do smell. If you're sensitive to strong smells, you won't be able to handle these. Pig ears smell like nothing compared to these. They do keep my dog busy for hours sometimes, which is great because she's an extremely active dog.

These Bully Sticks were better than expected! There were not nearly as smelly or greasy as some other ones I've bought in bulk, and they and were much bigger too....super thick. They last a lot longer with my Mastiffs' super chewing skills.

4 stars instead of 5 because a little pricey, and when first applied to cake, it was too runny and kept dripping off, so I kept scooping back onto cake and it finally set up. I liked it enough that I ordered a 2nd pouch so I can make homemade dog biscuits as Christmas gifts. I think I'll just add a little less water next time so it won't be quite as runny/drippy. Once it did set up and dry, it was hard/dry to touch ... this will make packaging homemade dog biscuts easy.

I provide childcare for a 6 year old girl. She enjoys creating dog parties. So, for my dog's 6th birthday, I ordered this frosting mix along with a peanut butter cake mix and a bone shaped cake pan. The 6 yr old enjoyed making/decorating the cake and creating the party. Her 2 dogs and my 3 dogs attended the bday party and all enjoyed the cake ... the little girl even cut a piece for herself and said it was pretty good!

It was very easy to prepare and was very cute with bone shape and frosting, and we sprinkled with Wilton (human brand) Rainbow-colored sprinkles for color (I'd ordered bone shaped, rainbow colored bone shaped sprinkles but they didn't arrive in time).

Not only do I own a business that makes animal accessories/treats, but I also volunteer and donate things to a local non profit no kill animal shelter. Overall, I love this product as you can make dog treats and not worry about them melting or getting messed up before selling them or before the customer gets them home. Yes, the dogs don't care what the treats look like, they only care about taste, and most things are tasty to them. However, for someone who loves to make donated treats, this is a little expensive. Not that I can find it anywhere cheaper than here, but just overall, a little more. Just makes for having to charge a little bit more for the product you sell.

The ingredients are the same, just in a different order. Not sure what exactly the difference is but I did not like this product at all. I have been using the Royal Icing for a year with no problems and decided to try this because it says its good for frosting cakes... the icing starts to crack and flake off of cakes after a few days. And, when used on cookies, it cracks and makes the cookies look very old and not fresh. Royal Icing is amazing!

I own and operate a small pet bakery. I bake tasty, healthy treats for pets. A lot of my clients want their treats decorated and I've tried many different types of frosting. This frosting is by far the best and easiest to use! I can frost bones, biscuits and cakes with no problems at all. I love that it dries hard and will not melt. Makes shipping and transporting treats a breeze! This is my go to frosting. I've yet to have a dog not like it either!
