Our old English bulldogs are ball crazy! especially our oldest a 95 pound line backer who is in every way an accomplished soccer player, his partner in crime a 70 pound 11 month old is more of stick fiend. Needless to say hardly a week goes by that big box of dog toys arrives from Amazon.
This particular ball was featured in my recommendation so I added one on a lark. Had I read the dimensions which I somehow missed I would have passed due to the small size of the large it's only ( 3.3 x 3.2 x 3.2") fine for small to medium sized dogs but may pose a choking hazard to larger dogs.
As for the design this ball is not made for aggressive, hardcore chewers. Within a few hours our 11 month old puppy Elvis had chewed off a piece of the ball from one of the wedges 5 years ago our oldest, Harley had swallowed a piece of rubber which blocked his intestines and required extensive and major emergency surgery.
The toy was not made by this manufacturer nor was it meant for Harley to begin with. I only mention it to re-enforce the importance of supervision and choosing safe, time proven toys.
My other issue concerns China. it's now well known that China has a complete absence of safety codes and regulations for pet products. Pet products from China have been the cause of virtually every major recall of a pet products from foods, ingredients and toys.
The Center for Veterinary Medicine and animal safety at the Food and Drug Administration advises consumers to avoid any pet products made in China. There are better an safer alternatives for toys made right here in the US with a time proven track record of safety. Nylabone, Kong, Planet Dog Orbee and others and they deserve our collective support.
I believe dog lovers are more aware an savvy then ever before when it comes to choosing toys wisely. It would serve manufacturers of these products who continue to source materials and or manufacturer in China well to recognize the inherent risks their products pose.
Although another reviewer claims this toy is "lead, cadmium, DEHP, BPA and phthalate free" there isn't a single independent lab report to verify this, nor are these claims made by PetProjekt. What is more rubber dog toys from china have been known to contain lethal above 250/pm of lead arsenic, chlorine and bromine. There is one reason to manufacture in china -greed. If the complete lack of saftey regulations, a waring from the FDA to avoid these China imports at all costs isn't enough. The lack of child labor laws and protections, and the human rights abuse of children who work in horrific conditions to produce these products should be.
Based on the above I can't recommend this line of toys whatsoever and would suggest taking a pass.

This ball is wonderful for any dog who chews up it's toys. My dog is a 1 1/2 year old Queensland Heeler mix. When she's not trying to heard our cats around, she's trying to chew up all her toys. The problem is she also eats what she chews. This ball is perfect for her. She can't get a hold of the edges and chew it (and believe me, she has tried) and when it's thrown for her it bounces in different directions making her chase it more getting more exercise. I highly recommend this toy.
