Here's our story: We have two really sweet dogs we raised from puppies a male Cocker Spaniel and a female King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, both about 4.5 years old. In the evenings we sit together for an hour or so (outside in good weather) while the dogs chew on 2-3 rawhides. They seem to "space out" in that time, content to be "with the pack." For years we could get Exer-Hides Rawhide Twists with Chicken Jerky. They were perfect. Both dogs ate the jerky, and then chewed down the rawhide, slowly and completely. Neither of our pups ever showed any distress or ill effects, but some folks complained that this product was dangerous and harmed their pets. Exer-Hides "chicken chewies," as our two knew them, are gone, alas!
We have been on a hunt for a replacement, and wanted to share our dogs' history to assist anyone in a similar situation. There are many, comparable products, but we have found none so far that gives our dogs the same experience. That said, here's how we rate Alpha Dog Duck Wrapped Rawhides: They almost fill the bill for us. While they are a bit expensive, the quality is great. The only drawback for our situation is that the rawhide portion is a bit too soft. Our critters just eat them up like a dog bone treat. They don't provide the prolonged "chewie" session we like. Yet, both our dogs like these very much!

I don't care much for the extra layer of plastic wrapping and only the outer wrap has the pre-cut indentation so it requires scissors but my 3 dogs love them just as much as the boots and Barkley chicken twists.
