Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I don't purport to be an expert on dog food -I just will say that my shih tzu likes this food just fine and hasn't had any issues with it. I generally free feed her and she keeps her bowl cleaned out! So it must taste pretty good -at least to my dog. And fortunately, the cats stay away from it. I don't notice any other differences in how my dog looks or behaves, but then again, I wasn't expecting to.

The ingredient list is interesting -reads like a salad bar, with all sorts of fruits and vegetables -potatoes, peas, beet pulp, cranberries, apples, carrots, and broccoli. Who knew? I'm guessing that dogs don't get beets and broccoli in their natural habitat. The bag has a big "Grain Free" banner across the front, but the second listed ingredient is potatoes, followed by peas, pea protein concentrate, and potato starch. I don't know if potatoes as a replacement for grain is all that beneficial to dogs -but it's probably better than corn filler. Since Hills purports to be the brand preferred by veterinarians, it must be pretty healthy. The label reads "adult 1-6, but I couldn't find any explanation of what that means. I'm assuming it is for dogs aged 1 to 6.

This is kind of pricey -but for me, the large bag will last forever. Doubt that is the case if you have several big dogs around the house, and this could get expensive in a hurry.

Overall, I was pretty impressed, but I'm not sure I would shell out this kind of money for dog food on an ongoing basis.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've been trying out Hill's Science Diet for the last month, after switching my 55 lb husky/shepherd mix to it from Orijen Adult. My dog is very active, but I only feed him 2.5 cups of the Orijen a day. The feeding guide recommended 3-4 cups for my dog's weight, so I went with the lower end since it seemed like a lot more food than he was used to. The kibble is fairly small. Hill's does say they have food for larger breed dogs (over 55 lbs), but my dog didn't have a problem with the smaller kibble size. He seems to enjoy it and most importantly, he doesn't have any digestive problems on it at all. He still has plenty of energy on our hikes and his coat looks great. I haven't been able to see an actual improvement in his coat since I was feeding him a high quality dog food to begin with, but his shedding does seem to have decreased. One thing to note about the Hill's Science "Grain Free" formula, is that it eliminates several of the controversial ingredients from the regular Hill's Science Diet Adult Dry dog food.

Hills Science Diet Adult Grain Free Dog Food fits both description as one of the healthier options you can buy for your dogs. Plus both my dogs licked their bowls clean, then went to the other's bowl and licked it clean too. One of my dog has had some dental health problems and is missing most of his teeth, but he had no problem chewing this brand.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Okay, so when I got this, I had just bought him a forty pound bag of Sam's Club Select, which he's normally quite fine with as is his system. I put this in the pantry prepared to begin mixing it when he was halfway through with that. Well he wouldn't wait! Let me point out what a good dog I have, never gets into anything unless I actually leave food out and leave the house, and he's never gotten into a new bag of dog food before, different or not, but he tore this open and helped himself. The next day when I went to feed him his normal stuff he simply walked over to the new bag, enough said, my dog loves it. So I mixed it then and there and he's been happy ever since! I love how good it is for him also, he loves it and I find that he eats less as its more filling. Highly recommended!

I ordered Hills Science Diet Adult Grain Free Dog Food because it looked good as far as nutition and I like to switch every so often because she seems to get bored with the same thing. She is also a picky eater but she loved this stuff! I also love that the bites are small. I would deffinitely recommend this dog food!
