Since I'm not a dog, I can't say how these treats tasted; but they must be good because my dog made his disappear in about a minute. I thought the idea was to keep him chewing for a while to work off the tartar on this teeth. If that's the case, it didn't work unless it works really fast. I was unfamiliar with treats of this texture, so I had to watch him while he ate it to make sure he didn't choke on it. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but the day after he consumed one of these treats, Tucker had the worst stomach problems of his life and was sick for almost a week. I threw away the remaining snacks and won't buy any more.

I've been using these for years for our dogs and they work great. They love the taste. The bone is thick, gritty and pasty (don't ask how I know) and if you get the right size where they HAVE to chew them you will see their teeth get nice and clean. I hate having to take my dogs for a dental as they are expensive and rough on them. I know myself the importance of keeping my teeth in good shape and these will help you share that with your beloved pet.BTW, RIP Roxy 10/24/11 Daddy, mommy, Shadow, Mason & Dixie all love you and miss you so much. We'll all meet someday at the Rainbow Bridge.

My Lab Mix is a mega chewer so it's hard to find things that he actually chews rather than gulps and swallows. My understanding is that any tartar control item needs to be chewed to provide maximum benefits for the teeth. These Iams tartar treats are tough enough that he does a lot of chewing before he gets them into bits small enough to swallow. He must like the flavour because he gets pretty excited when he hears the bag rattle.Read Best Reviews of IAMS Tartar Treats for Large Dogs, 9-Count Treats Here

I really like the Iams brand of dog food which my 4 yr old female boxer has been on since her adoption at 6 mos. of age. She's starting to have a little build up on her back molars, so I began looking for a good tarter reducing dog treat. After researching the various brands/types of tarter treats, I decided to give Iams tarter treats a try. Iams was among the most expensive dental treats on the market, but I figure Iams agrees with her system and why upset the balance when it's not necessary. Upon offering a tarter dental treat to my boxer girl, she wasn't quite sure what to make of it. After careful inspection she took the treat and retreated to the other room. The 4 star review was given because of her reluctance in taking it out of my hand, which leads me to believe it's not as appealing in smell/taste as is a beef, chicken, veal tasting treat. The treats seemed a bit on the small side when offering it to a 70 lb dog. I would have expected them to be a little bigger. She ended up eating it rather than chewing on it, so I'm interested in seeing how well they work. At almost $2 per treat, her teeth should be sparkling clean in no time!
