I have 2 Alaskan Malamute pups, age 3 months and 3 weeks when I administered this product. They weighed 40 pounds each. One of my pups vomited and I saw a bunch of round worms, alive and crawling all over in the vomit. I was horrfied. Even though the kennel where I bought them from had given them de-wormer all along on a regular bases, they still had worms! I bought them this Sentry de-wormer and it worked like a charm! the next day after I gave them the chewable dewormer, I took them to the vet. On the way home, again the same pup vomited, but all over me! Oh Yuckiiii! I pulled over to the side of the road and really looked at that vomit for signs of worms and they were ALL DEAD! Yah! this stuff worked. The vet did give me more roundworm dewormer to give them in 2 weeks following the dose I had given to them. She told me that about 3 to 4 months old puppies need more dewormer because there are dormant worms in the muscles (I think that is what she said) that hatch out at about that age. I will continue to give my Mals a treatment of dewormer every now and then to keep them healthy. I like this brand and I know it works, easy to give because they are chewable tablets and my 2 pups liked them. Not a problem with them eating it.

Would that I could give this 10 stars! I was totally grossed out to discover that my dogs had developed tapeworms. I was even more dismayed to learn that I was looking at multiple vet trips for treatment. This is the same meds my vet prescribed, but at a fraction of the cost.

A single dose kills all the worms in the dog's body right away. Within 24-hours, you won't see any more worms in the poop or around the dog's butt (gross, right?). The medicine works by interfering with the worm's ability to not be digested by the dog.

The reason multiple treatments are often needed is because it's so easy for dogs to get reinfected. Make no mistake, dogs get tapeworms from eating infected fleas. Fleas get infected from eating the tapeworm segments filled with tapeworm eggs that come out in the dog's poop or crawl out of their butts (gross!). I was all in denial about having fleas (I think we had a very small infestation, and my dogs ate most of them, so it didn't seem like we had any). I'm using Home Defense pesticide inside and outside the house to control them in my yard (lots of my neighbors keep their dogs outside all the time, so I have to be vigilant about protecting my yard. Also, I take my dogs for runs in parks and the woods, and all they have to do is pick up and eat one infected flea and the process begins again.

Moreover, once your dog has tapeworms, if there are any fleas in the environment, they're going to want to eat the eggs in the tapeworm segments that the dog passes, and if the dog then eats those fleas: reinfection. So picking up infected poop promptly and getting fleas under control is also important. Alas, I think the little buggers, the worm egg segments and the fleas, can live for a long time in the yard, so I like that this is a 12 pack, and I don't have to go back to the vet each month. I will probably, totally without the vet's advice, give this to my dogs for a couple of months (maybe in smaller doses later on) to make sure we eradicate these suckers from the environment. I doubt this is what a vet would tell me to do, but I'm doing it.

My dogs are 55 and 60 pounds, so I just use the chart on the back of the box to figure out how much they need. The box says one pill for dogs 25-50 pounds and two pills for dogs 50-100 pounds. Since they're just over the 50 pound border, I split the difference and gave them 1.5 pills a piece (which, if my calculations are correct, ought to be enough medicine for 75 pounds). It worked. No more tapey worms.

So for my dogs, these 12 pills are a 4-month supply for both dogs. Great deal! I did lots of research, and praziquantel is definitely the drug you want for tapeworms!

Home Defense Max 1.1 Gal Rtu for environmental control of fleas (also cheap at Target in store).

Fiproguard Plus Squeeze-On For Dogs 89-132 Pounds for flea control on the dog itself. The same ingredients as Frontline Plus. I use a single dose to treat both dogs (Their total weight is less than 132). I'm cheap, but it works.

Gave it to my 3 dogs: a dachaund mix, a Border Collie mix and a German Shephard. All three did fine on the med. No side effects. Worked well.

This med works extremely well. The only thing you have to remember is that when dogs are passing worms (especially with an effective medicine like this), they need to make a bowel movement at least every two hours or so, so DON'T give this to your dog in the morning and leave him/her inside all day. You will have an extremely large mess to clean up!

Definitely worth the price for how effective it is.

I noticed some flat white worms in my oldest dog's stool. I researched it and discovered these were tape worms. They were in every stool for a few days and moving around. I bought this product and waited for it to arrive. My dog is right at the 50 pound mark, so I gave him 2 pills (50 pounds could be either 1 or 2 pills, according to the directions). I checked his stool the next day, and there were no tape worms in it, dead or alive. I've been checking it since then, and they seem to be gone completely.

I have now been making my dogs "smoothies" which I pour on their food everyday. I put carrots, nori sheets, chicken broth, kifir (like yogurt), and pumpkin seeds in my vitamix to make the smoothie. Pumpkin seeds are supposed to be a natural parasite killer, so I'm hoping it will keep the tape worms away for good. Walnuts are supposed to be another natural parasite killer, but I'm hoping the pumpkin seeds will be enough. If not, I'll use these pills again, and I still have some left from this order. They seem to be very effective for tape worms.
